Well you haven't played BG3 so that's not a surprise.2 points

No, that was Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor. While I did not like ToEE, it was never that bad. The only time my computer got infected was back in the ancient DOS times from a shareware collection on CD from a trade show I went to. That was in '93 or so. Well, techically untrue, I once installed a remote control tool with trojan capabilities to test it out. Should probably say the only unintentional infection with malicious software.2 points

18 hours into Skald. It's pretty good. The mechanics are clearly D&D inspired, but different enough to be interesting, and not complex enough to weigh down too much. The game has stuff like eating, resting and crafting, but does all these more fluidly than games like the new Pathfinder RPGs, so they don't feel tiring. There's some rough edges to the mechanics, but overall it's decent. Somehow, the creator also managed to mesh the writing really well with the retro look. The game has a clear atmosphere to it and doesn't feel too generic or too weird to comprehend. It won't be the best RPG I ever played, but I found it to be worth the price.2 points

I used MO back then, and it was strange changing to Vortex for Skyrim.1 point

I think that's gonna depend on what mods you use. If you do get it wo work and have the inclination, let us know what you think about the new archetypes.1 point

That’s surprising to me, as I feel Varric would fit BG3 rather well. „A dwarf but beardless and sexy, with quirky attachment to his crossbow” seems like something Larian would be into. Well, aside from him being a short race with looking at Larian’s companion roster, seems like a no-no Though I might be unable to decouple him from games he was in - and to be fair I do remember him, while other companions from DA2&3 are more of a blur.1 point

I can very easily say exactly this sort of thing about BG3 and its cast of characters. <shrug> For me, Varric is a character I absolutely love and consider one of the best-written characters in all of fantasy gaming. There are also several other characters from across the three DA games I love. But there are no characters, not a single one, from BG3 that I would consider well-written or worth remembering/caring about.1 point

^This. Seems like Obsidian is doing what WotC has done with D&D's FR setting. Lore is consistent only within a specific game series, and not the entire franchise. So, if there is ever a PoE3, we can expect it will honor lore/events from the first two games. But any other series of games, games that are set in Eora but NOT PoE games, won't necessarily honor what happened in the PoE games.1 point

Rogue One was the best of the new SW movies, so I don't think it was a huge shock that the spin off series from that movie turned out good. They really are the only ones that use Star Wars as a sandbox to tell a good story, instead of trying to capture a reminiscent moment from the original trilogy.1 point

It's set shortly after Deadfire but pretty disconnected from the events of POE2 (confirmed in an interview with Eurogamer). As for Lodwyn it could be the new agent of Woedica ? Or even a deathguard (the eye of fire) ?1 point

Ah, yes, performance leaks and performance expectations are wonderful things. AMD expected RDNA3 to outperform Ada Lovelace. The rumor mill expected a 40% IPC increase with Zen 5. Leaks said Intel is going to up the core count on the 14th gen i5s. Intel thought Meteor Lake would be able to outperform Raptor Lake. There were leaks once about how Battlemage was going to have 512MB of L2 cache. Karzak once expected that Temple of Elemental Evil is going to make people forget about Baldur's Gate 2. You can guess thrice which one of those turned out to be true.1 point

According to the interview on June 5th 2024, Putin has indirectly said, they are suffering 5000 KIA per month. During 27 months of the war, this means 135000 fatalities. Which is in other words pretty much in alignment with the 500k casualties presented by various western/UA intelligence groups. math behind the 5k/month number can be found here (the plausibility is as always anyone’s guess )1 point

I'm in the position where I wish it was bad, it's so generic that I remember next to nothing about the gameplay a day later. I remember that the player is some kind of ninja doing superhero flick stuff and is being guided by a depressed middle-aged alcoholic dwarf to fight an uncanny looking albino twink elf, but there's just nothing specific that is interesting to recall. Maybe superhero fatigue has spilled over onto videogames that ape that kind of maximalist action spectacle.1 point

It looks plain bad to me. Don't know who their audience is for this and which player base are they hoping to catch with the Dragon Age name.1 point

Not sure whether to post here or in the anime thread... The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, an official feature film coming to theatres somewhere near you this December... ...No, this isn't a joke, this is really what a Lord of the Rings feature film is actually going to look like...in theatres. Well, until it horribly flops and they release it to streaming shortly after, anyway.1 point

They fixed DX9 a while ago, it is now supported natively in the drivers and no longer emulated. GN retested Arc every now and then.1 point

Well, here's to hoping Intel's Battlemage can deliver better compatibility at a decent price. The A770 cards wouldn't be half bad as alternative to nVidia's and AMD's very underwhelming cards at that price range, if it would be less of a dice roll with fresh game releases.1 point

Semi-related: the only malware I've ever had in my entire life was thanks to my brother installing a pirated version of Temple of Elemental Evil on my PC back when I was like eight. No, I'll never forgive him for it...though there was one good effect: it permanently scared me off the whole sordid affair of online piracy. Squeaky clean ever since.0 points

I regret marrying Sarah in my recent playthrough. She is awkward as heck. Like, keep it professional, lady. Andreja was a lot more chill.0 points

What Russia is basically doing is plundering from their future to prop up their present. Western welfare societies pretty much do the same thing, but just not in as draconian a way as what Russia is doing right now.0 points
