The Trump party leadership unilaterally deciding to kick Trump off the ballot would lead to both a total collapse of the current party structure (i.e. themselves, the leadership) as well as electoral disaster, neither of which the Trump party, in its own self-preserving interest, wants any part of. I feel confident in saying that the old Republican guard is largely just hoping that they can outlast Trump one way or another without ever having "betrayed" him - that's why, over the years, you've even seen cracks in the wall here and there, such as after January 6th, where Republican party leaders did actually attempt to pivot away...before quickly realizing that no, even that still wasn't enough to turn their core voting base against him, and attempting to pull further away would only endanger themselves instead. Powerful cults of personality do not leave easy/feasible ways of getting out once they've taken hold, and they signed an unbreakable deal with the devil by embracing Trump that they're now reaping the rotten fruits from.3 points

@BruceVC you may or may not find this interesting. After my favourite Russian blogger left Russia at the beginning of the war, inside information sort of dried out. Stumbled across this girl a few weeks ago, ethnic Tatar (she also has videos about the 190+ ethnic groups living together in the federation), but Russian citizen, giving insight into life in Russia. Her blogs are from the perspective of what I consider "enlightened" Russians, not the "bogans" from the "only in Russia" videos. If interested, you can find a 2 year old video on her channel where she explains why she isn't leaving and why politics doesn't interest her.3 points

To be fair, working crew and I took about 2 pictures across the entire time. I was wrapped up fixing costumes and herding cosplayers for events, and running on about 3 hours sleep each night. But to give you the general vibe...2 points

You should not, as FSB has employed loads of young “influencers” and not only in Russia, who are payed to talk positively about Russia. These are aimed especially at Latin American, African and Asian countries. But not exclusively.2 points

Isn't that what you get as a politician if you put all your eggs in one basket... and the basket turns out to be a basket case? Personally, I see that as karma for being followers rather than a leaders, despite marketing yourself as society's leaders. Sometimes the path of least resistance is a dead end... Edit: That last one actually sounded quite nice, have to remember that, if I think I need to sound profound some day2 points

My wife tells me this is the least interested she's been in the finals in a long, long time. We started playing fantasy football basketball just to get back into the NBA and now we're all over it.1 point

Great video, thanks for posting. I watched the whole video but Gorthfuscious she is DEFINITELY an FSB agent and Im surprised you would post such outrageous propaganda Im joking obviously, she is not a FSB agent . I think she is exactly what she says she is and the whole video is a well meaning video from a young person about her life in Russia and she objectively discusses what she thinks matters and what is important since sanctions after the invasion of Ukraine And I believe everything she says But the real criticism towards Russia is the politics and the reality of freedom in Russia under Putins autocracy. Its not about SM hyperbole around " no food on supermarkets" or " I cant access FB anymore " and its interesting at the end where she says "I always wondered how people in China could survive without FB or Youtube " like that really is a big deal, " OMG I cant access FB anymore " But she is your average young person and thats a big deal to them and she means well But going back to the real issues within Russia, she openly admits politics doesn't concern her and thats expected unless you support the authoritarian reality of Russia. How would she feel if she was member of the LGBT community? We have just had an election in SA as you know and the belief that people have in free and fair elections was the winner, it doesnt matter who wins because its the will of the people through the ballet box that is the most important thing We had weeks of opposition parties campaigning, townhall meetings, candidates coming onto talk shows and news networks and openly and freely criticizing the ANC and its policies with both fair and unfair comments. Our state owned media station provided the same platform because we allow and encourage those basic political freedoms and that matters to me and always will None of that exists in Russia, there is no free media and no real criticism allowed of the state or its policies and they dont have free and fair elections And thats not a concern to many people in Russia because there is nothing they can do about it like this young lady which is why she specifically mentions her video is not about politics So her is video is honest and truthful but what she talks about is not the real criticism I have towards Putin or his system of government. Its what his interpretation and implementation of a government means And I will always believe governments must support basic freedoms like human rights, freedom of speech and leadership change being determined through free and fair elections But if you ignore this you can absolutely be happy in Russia or have a normal life like she explained in the video1 point

IIrc her name was Natasha or something close. Last video I saw (a year ago) was posted from some other country. I *think* she was staying in Georgia https://www.youtube.com/@NatashasAdventures/videos1 point

She doesn't mention the pricing of those electronics compared to before the sanctions. I always wondered if Kazakhstan taxes the goods that go through their country to Russia.1 point

A Dance of Masks. Not exactly informative and I am quite certain that these are combat barks from the base game, but the focus on the companions is welcome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sycs4vdpxYw1 point

Well that's what I get for making a joke without knowing Florida law.1 point

Would be cool if the Republican Party leadership wasn't completely inept and they decided to push him off the ballot. It seems weird because they would win the presidency with a different candidate, but I guess they are worried about losing their own seats. Crazy time.1 point

For state charges, Florida defers to the state where the convicted criminal felon has been criminally convicted as a convicted criminal felon...criminally, as to whether they're allowed to exercise their right to vote as a convicted criminal felon as a result of their criminal felon conviction. So in this particular case, Donald Trump the convicted criminal felon would be allowed to vote, as a convicted criminal felon, in Florida, because his criminal felon conviction occurred in New York, where criminally convicted felons are still allowed to vote with criminal felon convictions. Woof, sorry, that was a mouthful, but I couldn't think of any other possible way to word it.1 point

Trump has been convicted on all 34 felony charges of his hush money / election interference trial. (e): Damn it, sniped by literally like one second. Oh, it looks like the Associated Press website died anyways. Don't know if because of the news or if just coincidence...1 point

Because people are lazy, or they have forgotten that other storefronts exist. Have you tried downloading a mod from Steam if you don't own it on Steam? In some cases it is impossible, but in all cases it's definetly a headache.1 point
-
Yes normally they are for mod purists but Steam offers financial incentives so it create a reality where some people are considered "sell-outs " because they list only on Steam But I find almost all my mods exist on Steam and Nexus or smaller mod sites that are still active like moddb.com https://www.moddb.com/1 point

Yes if you take games like BG1&2 there is a recommended order and by not following that order you can crash the game or create problems and that happened to me For this type of game there is mod order document you need to use which is categorized into mod types like "all NPCs at the end " So yes thats true but I include that in the 4-5 hours of prepping that I mentioned around watching videos Its 4-5 hours of inclusive research. But end of the day Steam Workshop does generally work but always read the specific comments from members around each Steam mod because they will normally say "install this mod manually " or " dont use Steam automatic install for this mod " I also think you dont install lots of mods so automatic mod installation will be fine for you But imagine installing the 2000 Nolvus mods manually1 point

First big thing I've done to get out of the house for non-work or non-funeral related matters in the past couple of months. Took the step from just stewarding to being full crew at MCM ComicCon at London over the weekend. 4 Fairly packed days doing all the behind the scenes stuff at Cosplay Central there. So dealing with the Cosplay Hospital, and then everyday the mass public, the Kids Cosplay Showcase, the Adults Cosplay Showcase, the Cosplay Variety Show, and the Cosplay Masquerades. Slept terribly so was in a fairly constant state of exhaustion. Caught up with a bunch of people I only see a few times a year. Got more hugs in few days then I have in the past 6 months. Then stuck around London an extra day since Lucasfilm and Disney sent all the SW costuming groups a batch of invites to attend the Premiere of The Acolyte at Liecester Square. It was interesting, but not quite sure the entertainment value was worth sticking in London an extra day and spending 2+ hours stood on the Red Carpet. But to be fair, that might have been affected by the previous 4 days of Con on my feet. Now doing the wfh for a few days as the post-con crash hits and I deal with some of the con-crud kicking in.1 point

I think I'll just repurpose my old thread here as a general Warhammer universe thread... I might even put some of my old paint jobs in here some day... You guys feel free to share your own armies whether Fantasy, WarCry, Necromunda, whatever... Anyway, It was hard to not notice the **** storm that occurred when current heads of lore in Nottingham decided to introduce a female Custodian... can't say I liked the idea either, but there is one thing WH40k does over and over, it's retconning, big time and consisten retconning Makes me wonder about the two missing legions and primarchs (2nd & 11th). My current (personal) conspiracy theory is, those were female primarchs leading female legions. But the Emperor foresaw how the world would react 40 years later and so decided to eliminate them in "Thunder Warrior Style" and remove all records of their existence1 point

So true you get railroaded so often and so badly. Act 3 is atrocious in that regard. "Die with honour" Oh come on And I think they killed off the guy at the start of act 2 too quickly and unceremoniously. I don't even get a goodbye? After the reveal at the end it's just sad. In the republic path in act 3 in Rome certain someone's demise was so... Unneeded. It didn't even matter in the end. Also I think it's understandable that you're given an option to sleep with Cleopatra but banging Cato is... So funny.1 point

Would be nice if the legate didn't suffer from so much plot stupidity1 point

On my second playthrough of Expeditions: Rome. A pretty fun turn-based RPG, I just dislike sieges and hate pacification quests. Don't like managing 12 characters at once or being forced to use non-companions. Otherwise being a legate felt cool.1 point

Got to the point in Necromunda Hired Gun where you can farm reputation with the different factions. I think it is funny these include a Genestealer Cult, a Helot Cult, and the Corpsegrinder Cult, with the devs not having bothered to give any of the three some cover name.1 point

So... Heiliung is going to tour Australia, with special guest Eivor. I would go see either without as a main event (both together just means I must have been a good boy), but... I am torn between getting tickets for their Brisbane concert or their Melbourne concert. The former is closer and more convenient, but the latter is probably a bigger event with better facilities0 points

There is no Light Ironically, there was a special death animation for the area, where the spiders were not retrieving the MC's corpse. "Don't listen to him, listen to me instead". It might be not exactly the best line, but he spider had a point. One of the collectible side quests. Well, they have tried with the altered quote. Her axe kept winking at me. All cut-scenes (except the secret true ending) are shades of grey. Stylish. They had been trying to murder me throughout the area. Did not meet the creature that cast the shadow. The boss. The arena had purple poison activated. The jars were providing protection from it and had been introduced earlier in the area. Unlocked the bestiary. I couldn't shake the feeling that the writing was off. The rocks were possible to stand on, despite looking like a part of the background. A rather unpleasant boss battle - the boss had no windup for most attacks, so I was just hitting once and dodging, occasionally using the rage/special/ability attack. Got a shield from it, which I proceeded to ignore. The backers, I assume. And this boss battle was worse - the arena had pits and the boss was zipping around. Cute fox. Such a nice and welcoming place. One of the few areas with maps. Since there were 3 objectives, which I deduced from staring at the map, trying to explore blindly would be horrible. As is, it was just unpleasant. A pretty bird. Did not do anything and was not a boss. The actual character development system was unlocked by defeating bosses. There were 4 souls possible to equip at the same time, so while sprinting was convenient, higher damage and regeneration felt more important, and so, traversing settlements was always annoying. The final boss and ending. I used the attack speed + increased regeneration built and was mostly just eating the damage. Felt actually good.0 points
