Voltron
So while I was testing around Fighter/Troubadour combo, I tried to figure out if it's worth to get that +2 Penetration and 25% Crit Damage for giving up a lot of great weapon combos you can get. While there are of course great weapons from each group, like for example 3 sabers, two which you can get quite early: Sasha's and Fin or sword, like Modwyr and wishper of yearwood early- there are a lot of weapons that provide superb effect on your character, like:Immunity to flanking, 30% recovery bonus, 20% recovery bonus, 33% of hitting targets again, self heal, evade, applying afficions on target or buffs on you, dealing area of effect elemental damage, reseting recovery, 50% chance to paralyze enemy on crit and much more. You can combine those especially when dual wield to get max from your character: for example immunity to flank and 30% recovery bonus + weapon that gives you immunity to intellect afflictions and 2% recovery for every hit in combat or weapon that give 50% chance to paralyze on hit, giving chance to trigger with on charge/Cleave etc. Or equip crush weapons vs enemies with armor vs piercinmg and slash and slash vs targets with high armor vs crush etc. When you are Devoted you are stick with what you have. Basicelly give enchantment to your weapons +2 Pen and 25% Crit damage and you are stuck with those. So to people who got far in game and discovered a lot of those great weapons- is Devoted worth for you over Fighter flexibility in terms of weapons? Let me know what you think. Edited May 16, 2018 by Voltron 1 [POE1] Nirvana Monk build- Tank/DPS monk for soloing PotD and Endless Paths. High anti CC build. Climhazzard
Swords were a good choice for Devoted and totally worth it imo. I think a lot of the other weapon classes wouldn't be though.
Voltron
Swords were a good choice for Devoted and totally worth it imo. I think a lot of the other weapon classes wouldn't be though. Well, rapiers in terms of power are, but sadly there are only two Unique rapiers in gama, although they combine well, giving total of 50% recovery bonus if there are at least 3 enemies and giving you immunity to flanked: So, I would say: swords, sabers are rapiers are good. Though it's easiest to get swords early game. However at the same time on no-Devoted you could run Squid + Modwyr and have a lot of good benefits combined. Climhazzard
Well, good swords are found early and often, so you don't really need meta game knowledge to go Devoted swords. And since they hit two damage types you'll very often be getting the overpenetration bonus (especially if you multi class monk). Big crits and big damage all around, very reliable. If you know the game well enough combining weapons from different categories may be better, but it won't be as easy at the start.

Voltron
Depends on what weapon u pick, if u pick for example pike, u r mostly screwed up. That is obvious :D. But do you find Devoted bonus worth loosing some weapons effects combos? [POE1] Nirvana Monk build- Tank/DPS monk for soloing PotD and Endless Paths. High anti CC build. Tosho
Yes. I'm currently doing a Great Sword Crusader, and there are like 5 unique GSs so it's nice and fun (POTD SOLO). I have this sword https://www.reddit.com/r/projecteternity/comments/8i8ws5/spoiler_reforged_whispers_of_yenwood_blade_of_the/ It seems to hit twice on special attacks such as FoD, and in a AOE frontal cone. It's quite amazing.
KaiG
I'm going Devoted swords just for Modwyr. I wouldn't use another weapon after getting her, it'd be like cheating.
theBalthazar
Devoted was one of the best class. Sadly, a massive nerf of disciplined strike came. And now... hum... I will see that when I will do my tiers list, but I think he his end of top-tiers-High mid-tiers. Extremely problematic in a sense, because he is mainly single damage. Cleave is a good tool IF you kill fast. Paladin/Berserker is now better than him on any point at level 20. ppscurry
I never found the need to switch out of my swords on my devoted run. There's even a sword that does crushing damage so honestly there's nothing a sword can't do. Whispers of Yenwood hits veil targets easily so you're basically set for any kind of interaction in the game.
Nefarious7
I'm not super far yet, but my devoted/berzerker with sword specialization is just killing it. Right now he's way better than my paladin/monk combo. Modwyr fully upgraded makes his frenzy not cause confusion, so it's a good sword to build around for a zerker. The crit damage of devoted is great for a multiclass that does a lot of critting (zerker). I don't think I would combine devoted with many other classes though. Clerith
My Devoted/Soulblade w/ swords was my strongest character by far until late teens when Aloth (pure Wizard) started doing disgusting things. Even at max level, he was extremely solid and good, would recommend. Never had trouble with enemy armor/immunities except those curse totems, but ranged takes care of those. Sarakash
I play Devoted/Assassins with sabers and it didn´t dissapoint. The alpha is just disgusting, and even out of stealth it´s not hard to reach overpen. The only thing I regret I is going singel weapon specialisation so it´s on hold until the respec buff is fixed. Cleave is a good tool IF you kill fast. Paladin/Berserker is now better than him on any point at level 20. Fighter is still better AOE than zerker. Cleave Full Attack from Stance deals much much more AOE dmg then carnage and Charge on lvl 19-20 destroys group of enemies while triggering Cleave at the same time. Not that Paladin/Zerker is not strong! But Fighter/Zerker would be stronger group killer and Paladin/Fighter would be be imo better combo than zerker/paladin as with Pal/Fighter you combine cheap single target bursting (Sworn Enemy returning cost + FOD for 1 Zeal) + perfect defenses (Passive Pal + Vig. Defenses) and awesome AOE clearing with Charge + Mob Cleave Stance. This is my next character to play as. And you also get Lay On Hands, Greater Lay on Hands, Auras and White flames from Kind Wayfarer for yet another healing and the you can easly skip Unbending totally. Encurance Aura + Rapid Recovery + FoD is enough to be pretty much immortal. Beast for solo. The Ultimate mass murderer would be Fighter/Zerke. Disciplined Strikes giving 15% Hits to Crit, Zerker giving 30% Hits to Crit, Passive giving 5% Hits to Crit, Fins hat giving 15% Hits to Crit (+probably some weapons) = giving at least 65% (probably 70-75 with pet that gives 5-10% hits to crit) Hits to Crit and Having both Carnage, Charge and Mob Cleave Stance together with Nature Godlike and Frenzy buffs triggering +2 Power Level. Not good on solo but hell of a fun with party or at least one healer behind Edited May 17, 2018 by Voltron [POE1] Nirvana Monk build- Tank/DPS monk for soloing PotD and Endless Paths. Judicator
Crusaders are better thanks, while Brutes are better DPS. Fanatics are kinda middle of the road. All three are great though.
theBalthazar
Cleave is the thing difficult to estimate. Paladin is also extremely DPS with a bleak walker well build. Bleak + Devoted is perhaps the most jack of all trade of all. Devoted solo, I don't know. Nothing really interresting in Line 8 and 9...

Haplok
Note that Crit isn't necessary only +25%. If you're using an effective weapon against enemy armor (like an estoc), it can often lead to Overpenetration for another +30% damage. If you're playing a Streetfighter who is On the Edge, that's another +100%. If you're playing an Assasin and it's an Assasinate crit, then +50%. Plus various on-crit weapon effect, such as aoe damage for Amra Axe, or elemental bursts for Acolyte's Frostbite handaxe or Magran's Axe. As for fighter's crit rate... it's almost the highest in the game. Berserker has a slight edge in sheer crit rate, but is much less dependable overall (no graze-to-hit unless externally buffed). Intuitive Strikes (which should be active always) provide 25% critical conversion. If you use sabers, swords or daggers, you can use Fair Favor hat for another 10%. Ring of Prosperity's Fortune can provide up to 15% if you're filthy rich. Now the other class can provide boosts also. Rogues get Dirty Fighting for another 10%. And there are natural crit rolls as well. But those obviously depend on your accuracy vs enemy defense.
Boeroer
Just keep in mind that multiple crit conversions don't stack additively and thus a 25% and a 10% conversion "only" result in an overall conversion chance of 32.5% (not 35%). If you add more and more you can see that it makes less and less difference: 25% and 10% and 10% and 15% result in 48% (not 60%). 2 Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
