This is a good read, Trump has definitely lied and embellished the truth much more than Trump   :teehee:

Oh my God! A President who says things that are not true?! STOP THE PRESSES!

From Obama going all the way back to, well, Carter and Ford (maybe), then another long stretch back to Eisenhower & Truman (maybe) our Presidents have looked us in the eye and told us lies, knowing that they were lying. But with Trump, it is conceivable he thinks everything he says is true. It may even be he thinks it becomes true just because he's saying it. The rich are different after all. It the words of George Costanza "It's not a lie if YOU believe it".

And somehow that makes it so much worse. I guess I rather have a liar than a fool.

But GD did you see  how many statements  Trump made that werent true ?

They are all liars Bruce. Every one of them. Just because some rats are dirtier than others does not mean they are not rats.

Oic, were doing the "he didn't grovel" to a "dictator" dog and pony show. Googling is hard, but if you use the search term I handed you, you will also see him kowtow to some Saudi prince/king/whatever. Are they "dictators"?

Actually, he probably did Google as about half of the first page of results are in reference to the Japanese Emperor.  The rest are to China and one to Castro.  Last one is somewhat laughable, you'd think Cuba is so beneath the US there's no need to act hard with them.  Oh right, Miami voters.

You're not kidding. Almost all of the relevant images are of Obama and the Japanese Emperor. I did see the one image of him and the Saudis, though.

Z: "Trump does it more"

Not really, I'm saying that 'kowtowing' is irrelevant, ie Obama or anyone else (since GWB did it as well with the Saudis) bowing is simply irrelevant and means nothing. Unless you're obsessed with not showing weakness, and- to paraphrase the great philosopher Tywin Lannister- the people obsessed with such things are themselves deeply insecure. Practically and politically Akihito is irrelevant but bowing to him is regarded very positively in Japan.

MbS/ Salman is different since they're definitive tyrants in the old meaning, but still Trump could literally have dropped to his knees in front of MbS on live TV and nobody should care- if it has a purpose and if the rest of his policy had been sensible.

The one with appearing to bow to the Saudi King was one of the main ones. Plus the whole 'apology tour' meme.

Pot calling the kettle black.

It's preferable to have these things articulated than not and we are all pot's and kettles at the end of the day, so pots and kettles will have to do the calling.

Speak for yourself. I am neither a pot, nor a kettle.

Voting isn't the answer huh? Well Val, what do you suggest?

Well GD.... you can't solve problems without first realizing who and what you are (see above).

And do you really think voting is the answer? Truly?

Voting is important because without that facility guaranteed, people would be even more disengaged with politics than they already are.

Not really.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

The stock market panic is pretty funny, everyone is acting like the correction is a crash... Poor unintelligibles are trying to somehow relate/blame the drop to political scurry but don't know the difference lol

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

Begone! Lest I draw my nail...

A crash would be something more akin to the 22% drop that happened in the 1980's, this one as a percentage was only like 4%. Certainly looks dramatic compared to the constant upwards movement that the stocks have been going in for a while.

Yep, exactly!

It's just funny how the panic spread so quickly yesterday, the interruption of the tax reform speech in order to cover the stock drop. Instantly, people questioned the economic growth and success because of the drop. Of course these are people who have no business knowledge so it just tickled me a bit is all.

I mean, with more and more knowledge of the stock drive, a reset is normal and certainly was due so it (in hindsight) will only support the acknowledgement of economic success, as corrections are daunted upon resets - as has always been cased in history of Wall Street's stock trade.

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

Joys of a 24 hours news cycle.  Local news here was pretty calm about it, said they can't call it either way after just 2 days.

4% drop is clear indication that investors don't believe that current economic measures will bring growth at least on short-term view, so they are shorting stocks. Which is not best development for Trump and GOP who marketed their tax cuts to bring economical growth, as markets are betting opposite effect, even though stocks it is probable that stock will soon turn back to growth after prices have drop enough for shorters to start buy stocks again, such drop will most likely reflect badly on GOP's claims about economical growth which isn't necessary thing that you want to happen during election year.

Are we sure this isn't what the GOP want? There is a lot of profit to be made by shorting stocks, dipping the market and buying low. I'm sure there are people who saw this coming and have been offloading for a while now. Some people really love recessions.

Most likely there are republicans who are happy about this turn of the events, but members of GOP in congress and Trump have parroted narrative about how stock market growth shows what economy growing under their leadership and for said narrative big stock market drops isn't best turn of the events.

If someone hadn't incessantly bragged about record-breaking stock markets this would hardly even be news.
