Both excellent documentaries. The former I have linked on these forums before, and if I made a list of ten documentaries I think every human should see 'The Century of the Self' would be one of them. I mean, ideally, moderation would set standards of behavior that are conducive to a constructive exchange of ideas and clamp down hard on pointlessly antagonistic bull**** (which, again, I'm sure would get me banned in, like, two weeks but still) - but given that they apparently don't consider setting up such rules a priority, I think it falls upon the participants to combat that kind of crap. Which I'm not entirely sure how to do - I guess politely phrased, informative and topic-relevant posts in great enough numbers to drown out the noise would do the trick? Yeah, these forums are a complete and total garbage hole when people are actually getting upset at each other*, and moderation, administration, ownership et. al. doesn't seem to care one bit. Why have rules against flaming and trolling when you can have rules against criticism of other companies? ... *Not that I haven't contributed to it being so...but hey, if the rules weren't such trash, it wouldn't be a problem to begin with. A warning is usually all it takes for people to calm down because I think despite our differences, we have a lot of respect for each other here. As for the mentally retarded discussion Bruce, its mostly because some people are really sensitive to the word retarded. Its become more of an insult for people who act moronically or in a way people think is stupid, rather than as a scientific term, and because of that, people who know developmentally disabled people and the PC tend to not like to use the word as they see it as disrespectful to the developmentally disabled. Some people therefore think it shouldn't be used, and others just see it as the evolution of language same as the word ****. A lot of people who get butthurt over its use in general dialogue don't get calling some random person the term is not the same as insulting or making fun of those with actual disabilities in that area. So, you should never use because PC Warriors will think you are the devil because they will take it out of context and make you out to be some sort of evil monster. I perosnally never use the term word with disalbilties. It is more fitting as a meaner term for idiot. I've had it directed at me.
