melkathi Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I tried a human mercenary band. First couple of missions went very well, beating up chaos cultists and rival mercs. Then came that sisters of sigmar warband. Ouch. In the end only my archer was still standing. Well, running for his life more like it. It was a short, brutal romp with the mercs. Will have to start a new warband and hope for better luck. Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
marelooke Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 Made it to the Cistern in Amnesia: The Dark Descent, I have the feeling I should be closing in on the final stretch now...
Blarghagh Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 The Cistern is the third out of four hub areas in the game. I'd say you're about 2/3rds in.
HoonDing Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 The part in Dead Money where you need to reach the Sierra Madre casino from the bell tower amidst hordes of zombies, red poison clouds, traps, beep beep beep and the useless Pipboy map is one of the worst gaming experiences I've had. Must be real fun DLC for a character with no 100 in sneak, silent running + light step. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Rosbjerg Posted November 4, 2015 Author Posted November 4, 2015 TMust be real fun DLC for a character with no 100 in sneak, silent running + light step. I got a lot of lag in that part, so I just sprinted through... Of course it helped I remembered the route. So pretty ok actually. Hated it back the first time though, but mostly 'cause it's a DLC that doesn't hold your hand at any part. I found accepting that helped my enjoyment immensly. Fortune favors the bald.
HoonDing Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 You get the two best light armours in the DLC (although one of those is super ugly) so it's worth playing through at least. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
WDeranged Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 The first time I did Dead Money was a real slog, I think I hated that DLC. Weirdly though I got nostalgic about it pretty soon afterwards, I still think it's a ****ing hellhole but I suppose that was exactly the intent.
HoonDing Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I completely forget the weight limit to start Honest Hearts. Also, hilarious, tribals with anti-materiel rifles and brush guns. How come they didn't conquer NCR yet? The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
GhostofAnakin Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 I hated the constant beeping thing in Dead Money. Then again, I hate any game mechanic that serves to remind me I have to do certain things either within a certain time limit or within a certain parameter. melkathi Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 The new mercenary warband was off to the same good start as the previous one. The first mission anyway. On the second day my scouts could just not find any really opportune targets. I decided to send my men into the merchant district in two strike teams. I had a bad feeling about it. And was proven right. An Eshin assassin was upon the first team before they even had time to take a single step. My men outnumbered him, but the swift rat simply danced around their blows (though the warband's youngblood got a couple good hits in with his halberd). My marksman retreated to high ground, trying to discourage any more skaven from joining the fight. He took a few good shots at the two warpguards rushing to help their leader, but it was not enough to discourage them. The three rats quickly cut down the warrior and youngblood. It was then the Captain and second Warrior finally arrived on the scene, with the wyrdstone they had scavenged. The warrior charged one warpguard, the captain the other. While one rat went down, the other managed to evade the furious swings of mace and hammer. Meanwhile the assassin had decided to go after the marksman. The rat drew deadly shuriken and... completly failed to impress anyone. Least of all the marksman who reloaded his rifle and calmly trained it on the skaven leader, pulled the trigger and BAM. dodging gunpowder was not among the skaven's tricks. When the rats saw their leader fall, they scurried back into their holes. The youngblood made a full recovery. The warrior will too, but will need a few days of rest to get over his near death experience. And right for the victroy celebrations, my gunsmith contact send a new blunderbuss to the camp. Just perfect for the second marksman joining the team. Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

Must be real fun DLC for a character with no 100 in sneak, silent running + light step. One trick with the zombies is that cripping any of their limbs instantly kills them. The bear trap fist is a weapon that has an extremely high chance to do so, given a passable unarmed skill. I guess that's one constant of any semi-recent Bethesda-engine games: melee builds absolutely obliterates ranged ones, be they guns or magic. L I E S T R O N GL I V E W R O N G
Cantousent Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I've had a little extra time the past few days and I've taken advantage to try to get to Dragonfall's ending. I *think* I'm at the end soon, finally, after weeks of playing. It's truly a splendid game and, unlike the first one, I feel a real connection to the NPCs. They did a wonderful job with them. GhostofAnakin Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I'm enjoying Wasteland 2, but a lot of the "choices" seem to spring up on you without much chance to do much else. I'm currently in that Canyon of the Titan, where you have to choose between two factions. Problem is, I happened to run across one of the factions and because I needed to reach an area safely, I decided to let one of their dudes join my party. This basically caused me to be against the other faction, even though I didn't quite think I'd have to decide yet. Fenixp Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 So, bought Skyshine's Bedlam. It's pretty damn entertaining, but very random and the combat system is quite simplistic for the most part, yet it's quite difficult and extremely suspenseful - your dudes die fast and it's got the XCOM level of "Okay, cool, now I'll do this to secure my highly trained sniper, right, nothing can happen to him now. ... Oh. That happened. ****.". Still, a) Fantastic art style b) Postapocalyptic That's all I need to be happy. Yes, I'm a shallow person. It's truly a splendid game and, unlike the first one, I feel a real connection to the NPCs. They did a wonderful job with them. And not only NPCs, they have constructed the entire hub area to be extremely relatable. Dragonfall is an excellent RPG. 1
Blarghagh Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 I played "Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes" with my friend and he is no longer my friend.
Fenixp Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 You should move on to something more friendly and relaxing to rebuild the bond, like Monopoly. 1
Bartimaeus Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Mario Party is also an excellent friend-maker. (Truth be told, I've never actually lost a friend over Mario Party...but boy, I sure have gotten close...and some of my friends definitely *have* actually lost friends over it...but hey, that's not my problem. ) Edited November 5, 2015 by Bartimaeus Quote How I have existed fills me with horror. Longknife Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) I played Isaac Rebirth: Afterbirth and continued to wonder why everyone hates on Maggy. She's like one of the best characters and hands down the most reliable. :c Also I play TF2, both casually and competitively. Bartimaeus Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Because her activatable is terrible, her damage is terrible, and uh...if I recall correctly, she...moves slow? I'm not sure of that last one, but the first two are definitely true. I have the complete opposite play style: I play with little to no health (just spirit hearts, usually), and instead go entirely for damage output. She's counterproductive to that, and makes deep runs into the game nearly impossible for me (and presumably most other people). Nonek Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Regarding the Ghost People of Dead Money, I simply stayed in the Bell Tower and sniped most of the gentlemen with the Holorifle. Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. HoonDing Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Honest Hearts sure is short and banal. Complete waste of time, even, if I'd be harsh. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Fenixp Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 (edited) Yeah, Honest Hearts seems incredibly appealing on the surface, a brand new landmass... Tiny landmass largely in the style of the main game with some unique aspects, yes! But then you find out just how incredibly forgettable it ends up being. Edited November 5, 2015 by Fenixp
Rosbjerg Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 My favorite dlc actually, I really liked the shift in tempo. While the main quest was completely forgettable I agree, I really appreciated the backdrop it provided. From tribal life to the very personal account of the war from 'The Survivalist' and Graham and Daniel's musing on the future, redemption and sin. Fortune favors the bald.
Cantousent Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Honest Hearts is my favorite also. I especially loved the further explanation about the Burned Man, and even moreso his depiction. 1 Fionavar's Holliday Wishes to all members of our online community: Happy Holidays Join the revelry at the Obsidian Plays channel:Obsidian Plays Remembering tarna, Phosphor, Metadigital, and Visceris. Nonek Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 One should prepare for Honest Hearts with a viewing of the Mission, and thus approach the dlc forearmed.
