If I didn't import my save for DA1, those things would not affect DA2.

Please stop cherrypicking.

What effect it give?

Those "effect" is there in 3 default history anyway....

Every single game that boasts this feature has a canon choice if you do not import.

I fu*king knew it, they delayed the game to do the the keyboard + mouse interface...

You say this like it's some sort of horrible thing.

Mapping controls isn't that hard.

So it means if you play and replay different default history you play it all, import history is a moot point by that. It is all in the game, you just have to replay different default history

If you want to say "i want to play my Warden history", there is actually no such thing, your Warden never being recognize, it just some point "ticked" as dead Warden, living Warden, Amell Warden, dead Elf Warden...ect

Guys here is some good input around DA:I, I am still impressed and getting more impressed as I read further updates :)

It looks like those terrible tacky armor designs from DA2 is returning too -- That along with the questionable design choices, like weapon restricting all classes, because their idea of balancing and making each of them unique (lolwut), is to remove content as opposed to adding content to provide a neat balance of customization between each. Finally, there are the healing spells being partially prevented for use in combat, where you can barely use them... Not really encouraging.

I actually like the removing of healing spells. Means you're not half-required to bring a mage along anymore.

I'm ambivalent on the weapon restrictions. It looks like, unlike DA2, party-NPCs will be able to use both weapon styles of their class though.

I'm not sure about the no-autoheal after combat though. If done wrong, it can lead to all battles being really easy because you have to retain your health through the whole level.  So I hope they don't mess it up.

Hm, the only video I've seen seemed to show a more DAO-like weapon selection for characters. If it's DA2 level, it's quite meh. But it's not like I ever play anything but a 2h or sword and board warrior or mage in a DA game, anyway :D

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

Bleh, I don't remember half the things from DA:O and I don't want to go through it again.

You think so? Idk, it seems to me like all the flag selections give you a little background and I don't remember what choices give you what outcome anymore.

Removing healing from combat seems to be the new trend. I doubt anything can be done about it so we just have to suck it up until the trend reverses.

And it will reverse because "no healing" is a terrible idea based on false assumptions. It will not promote diversity in character builds or party composition like developers seem to think for some unfathomable reason. Instead it'll promote MMO-esque ultra-powergaming where DPS will be be-all and end-all. Welcome to the world of spredsheets, strict ability rotations and mandatory best-in-slot items.

Not a fan. Only 8 abilities in the toolbar? And no ability to add more bars, poor.

Why would you need more bars if you can only have 8 abilities? ;)

Seriously though, BioWare guys talk a lot about how great the game is going to be. Like they always do. But recent facts are disturbing and seem to confirm our worst suspicions. The game was apparently designed for consoles and now - only now! - they're adding keyboard/mouse support. We all know how good and functional such last minute additions tend to be.

I fully expect DA:I (the PC version) to be a console port of abysmal quality.

Where does it say that?

It's been confirmed on twitter (and the bio forums I think). Max 8 abilities on the toolbar per character on the PC.

If the ability design is similar to DA:O and DA2, and you don't have to use those slots for sustainables, 8 is enough IMO.

Only 8 active abilities per character?

That sounds especially bad for mages. I enjoyed having lots of options as a mage in DAO.

The combat keeps moving in a direction I dislike. First limiting weapon styles to classes and now this. Does anyone now if we can switch between different weapon sets at least? I don't know why they keep trying to restrict player options instead of just letting players play how they want.

Well, that does sound stupid. Less sorry than before I'm going to be playing this one on the consoles,
