We've had plenty of expensive stuff delivered here without a signature requirement over the last 5 years, and nothing has ever gone missing before. Now, Fedex's tracking can sometimes be dodgy, in that they often rely on local USPS to do the "last mile" of shipping, and this isn't reflected in their online tracking. But USPS has now made another round since then, and Fedex's website did specify that the item was left at the "front door" at about 1:30 Friday afternoon. So, although there's a chance that Fedex's delivery site is an auto-filled default and that the Saturday mailperson was lazy and left the packages to be taken care of on Monday, it is quite likely that the box did make it to our house. And I'm having some mild social anxiety about dealing with it. Do I call the shipper, the manufacturer, the network carrier, my homeowner's insurer, and/or the police? Who has the time/patience to figure that out and do it? A large part of me would rather just pay the money to order a new one and forget about all this. (Oddly enough, there was a different package waiting on the porch when I got home. But it was a UPS delivery, and they typically come rather late in the afternoon around here.) I remember I kept telling a friend how hysterical(ly bad) that one pommel horse scene was when I first saw it and how I was rofl the whole time. Course, at the time it was likely 1am, I'd tuned to it randomly on cableTV and I probably wasn't terribly sober. Anyway...the morning/afternoon flew by and now I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do in the evening. Something fun and preferably a bit wicked. “Things are as they are. We pay a service to do it but they've been pretty crap this season (admittedly we've had a tough winter so far and they have been busy). Its one of those activities that I love to hate. And the trick is to push the snow like a snow plow, not to lift it with the shovel. I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet. Its more than just the blisters too - you can give other people chicken pox if they've never had it, and you can't keep food down during the active period. As I recall that's the one where a fight broke out in the theater several rows ahead of him (but no pommel horses became involved). The film won a contest by WB and Amazon and was released on DVD in 2007 so it has a cult following - reportedly due to how entertainingly bad it is. 1 I cannot - yet I must. Good thing I had chicken pox when I was a little kid, I heard its much worse when you get it as an adult. My face is normal again, all the red ruined skin peeled off. Turns out I'm now allergic to the skin lotion I was using for ages. I probably just had a tiny spot of bad skin and the lotion caused a huge allergic reaction. At that time I didn't know I was allergic so when it got worse I used more of it... a vicious circle of skin destruction. I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet. Also, I know level of entertainment enjoyment tends to go in phases, but as the periods of my burnout phases comes faster and faster (and last longer and longer) I find media-entertainment less and less desirable to even bother with. I still enjoy them, but I don't *enjoy* them, if that makes any sense. It no longer seem to be enough. Perhaps it's time to return to my own inner imagination, rather than someone else's, and get lost in writing some stories again. Just for me, mind. I have no "author" aspirations. That's too much work. I realized a long while back that writing stuff ultimately was about a mental escape, just like watching a movie/playing a game can be. Used to love being shut away in my room as a kid, banging away at the keys of a typewriter, totally lost in what I was creating. I think it's finally time to return there, now and then. ...at least, if this headache would ever go away. I'm half-tempted to buy a real typewriter, too. Word-processing is not the same. I understand, I hope to return to my own inner flow zone soon too, but in my case, I may try my hand at modding once again, coz there you get to create in so many ways, so if one thing feels a bit off one day, you just switch to some other creative activity.
