It's still on sale at GOG for $10, if you want it DRM-free.

You see, ever since the whole Doritos Locos Tacos thing, Taco Bell thinks they can do whatever they want.

Ship combat doesn't seem to work properly because it makes no sense to  target anything but the weapons systems.

I think I'm gonna go with Alpha Protocol today, as well... Been thinking about it for a while.

I just bought 3 games I haven't played at retail for €6,- combined, not seperate.

- Deus Ex: Human Revolution

- L.A. Noire - The Complete Edition

- Darksiders - The Hellbook Edition

Which one should I start with?

I think you got your order right there. I enjoyed DXHR and la noire quite a bit, but la noire is more like a flawed gem than anything. + I had food poisoning at the time.

Even though I have the cinematic railroading of Bioshock Infinite to finish, I set my priorities straight and began playing Temple of Elemental Evil instead! :)

I haven't played that game in like a decade, but now, when I eagerly wait all the turn-based RPG goodness coming out this year, I decided to give it a go again. To my surprise, I found that the game is still being perfected thanks to Circle of Eight - and they have been doing wonders on ToEE. The latest patch came out April 29 2013! :o

Now you get to play it up till level 20, and just about everything seems bug free so far.

I'm doing pretty well. I can tell I'll be done with it soon, there's no variation in platform popularity or other such things, and I'm starting to suspect that getting a 'hit' game that suddenly sells 8 times the normal is some kind of scripted affair in getting out of your garage. Haven't explored the endgame as much yet, though. $8 is probably slightly overpriced for this simple job.

I think a much, much, much superior game is Nino Arndt's Gamebiz series. GB3 is ~$15 but GB2 is now freeware and is actually a sort of 'classic' in the series:

Cons: more grindy and the worst UI you've ever seen, though you get used to it quickly. Pros: best game dev simulation out there.

I hated Darksiders and felt that for me, even the ridiculously low price was wasted money.

I somehow never got around to try L.A. Noire.

Deus Ex I had a lot of fun with. The writting could have been a bit better, but I really enjoyed the gameplay. Especially the dialogue / social upgrades for the character I found very well implemented. It's DLC is also rather good. One of the better DLC I have seen.

Thanks guys, might I enquire as to what put Darksiders on the bottom of the list?

I found the gameplay extremly boring. To a point where it started to make the other little things bother me: the game takes itself very seriously... a bit like a Manowar song - fun enough when you don't pay attention to the lyrics.

So since I didn't have fun for the actual playing, realizing that I found the story to be simply silly didn't help ;)

Was able to figure out Game Dev Tycoon.  Have about 100+ million sitting in the bank with a large company making games for the 360.

Have you got your R&D department yet? I just went into full research mode. Hope I'll be able to bring out an AAA title before Y30 where the score is calculated.

I don't have my R&D department up yet, though I believe I do have a designer with 700 skill now.  What qualifies as a AAA game?  I created some Sci Fi RPGs and the 3 of them have been absurdly successfully.  One was just a hair under 5 million units shipped and gave me buckets of cash.

I'm also playing Game Dev Tycoon.  I played the demo and messed up a bit by not implementing the gamepad before making a new engine, but now I've got the hang of that and I'm restarting.  My Hockey Fighter and Puck Racer line of games did very well.

edit:  Darksiders is a decent action game with a fun setting, but Deus Ex HR was one of the best games I played last year, and LA Noire does a lot of unique things that make it a very interesting game (although it has many flaws.)

Playing some Neverwinter Open Beta as a Half-Orc Great Weapon Fighter.  Pretty fun so far.  The combat is more action oriented, like Tera, and not just the standard stand there and click buttons fare.  So far there is full voice acting, for the quest givers, anyway.  They have all the races you'd expect playable, Human, Elf, Half-Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, plus Drow, Tiefling, and Half-Orc, and there is promise of at least one more race in the future (full blooded orcs plz, and green ones, I'm okay with grey, but prefer green for orcs  ).  Five playable classes right now: Trickster Rogue, Great Weapon Fighter (2-handers), Guardian Fighter (sword & board), Cleric, and Control Wizard, with more classes to come.

I don't think you strictly *need* gamepad support for your engine.  I think it just provides a boost to gameplay scores (which is most important for games that focus on gameplay, naturally)

You actually have to research AAA in the R&D department and it becomes a fourth choice in game size.

But apparently you need to have a few specialists to handle that kind of game, otherwise it will tank :(

So I'm trying to get research points to at least traina  couple of people up for Story lead, Graphics lead and possibly a third category.

Yeah, my hockey based games are really all about gameplay and graphics, no story or world building really.

It has its addictive charm.  I never played Game Dev Story, but I hear it is quite similar.  This one has the advantage of being runnable on Windows, so I actually can play it.

I think it cost me $8, and I'd definitely say I got my $8 worth.

I don't have it, so obviously the other two have to be better.

Meanwhile, was playing alpha protocol. Good Lord that game is ugly, I've never noticed it before. The checkpoint system also gets really grating after a while. Last time I played it I had some repeatable crash issues, but they were gone this time. Guess Sony's fixed something on their end of things... Still, my fave obsid game and definitely time for the yearly playthrough.

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?
