Yeah the game is not even out and we will be talking about the ending!

I want to know what kind of ending and what kind of content in the ending you want?

Personally some of Obsidians games had in my taste bad ending, that be for lack of time or what ever, the ending like NWN2 or Kotor2 where you beat the bad guy he place collapsed and we don’t know what happened, are unpolished and unispired.

I want an epic ending and filled with info about every little thing I did in the game a la Fallout 2.

I like that if the game has multiple endings some to be tragic endings, but if they have a standard ending then don’t make it tragic. An ending with a cliffhanger or tragic, tend to piss me off.

For example ME3 unpatched ending was the worst ending ever in my taste, first all the decisions you made till that point fells inconsequential, second it was tragic Sheppard died, third the options given to you felt unispired and it felt that no mater what you do, int the end you screwed everyone and in top of that they didn’t give you the sweet vignettes about what happened to the world after the fact.

So what about you?

What game endings, movies, books you liked, what you didn’t, what info you would like to be displayed in the ending of the game, etc.

I love detailed epilogues in RPGs, and I want to know that any choices my character made had an impact on the world. It's great to see a character's legacy after the bad guy is defeated and the world is saved.

Just, for the love of god, don't make the ending be a binary good/evil choice. Or any sort of binary choice at all.

I agree that the ME3 (and FO3) ending were very disappointing because I had expected a FO1/2/NV style epilogue showing the long term consequences of your choices. That's not to say that PE needs to use that ending format, but it's one that I''m fond of. It really depends on how big a role the pc plays in the global affairs versus how personal the story is.

I would like to see the ending fleshed out with it talking about NPCs you have met and helped (or hindered). At least with PE, OE will not have to rush it so we get those bad endings... no publishers is a great thing!

I hope there's no final "end" to the game, that you can play past the end credits. But as of credits/cutscene after the final boss it would be cool to see how many times I've died (normal mode), coins collected and so on. The fun facts dosn't matter to me really, just hope there's an epic cutscene at the end.

Perosonaly i dont like to play post game ending, i prefer to replay the game over and over gain, till an expantions comes along. Or a new Game+ to play at max level with a diferent game setings. Even in games like TES where you can play post ending of the main story i tend to start a new play trough with a diferent character.

Long epilogues are nice, like the uncut epilogues of the BG2 ToB. That was cool, the epilogue in Nwn Hordes of the Underdark was too short compared to the epicness of the journey D:

« Celui qui est consumé par la flamme de la justice ne craint ni le ciel, ni l’enfer ; il n’est qu’une arme attendant le jour de sa mort ». (Paul Murphy, l'Enclave, 1971)

Random thought, but with the whole concept of souls in the story it would be neat after the ending a new game + would be your previous hero's soul residing in your new character.

An ending like Witcher 2 would be perfect. I love hashing things out and having things come together before the final fight. As apposed to running up the the end boss like he's king koopah and getting a few details on how the story unfolded.

Reincarnation is indeed part of the lore.

I thought Baldur's Gate 2 had the most fantastic ending. You had a great epilogue with detailed description of what happened to all your companions. If PE can use that and add-on with the Fallout New Vegas type of ending showing what happened to all the communities around you due to your actions, that would be PERFECT! :w00t:

I want to eat the heart of my adversaries, having ripped it from their ribcage still beating. With a dash of tobasco.

No to experimentation!

No to fixing that is not broken!

No to changes for the sake of change!

Do not forget basis of Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment. Just put all your effort to story, fine-tuning and quality control.

I will take anything if it does not have something to do with the the colours red, blue and green (especially green!)

Oh, and no ghostly child or something like that.

A long epilogue involving the consequences of your actions, what will happen to your companions etc would be nice.

It should be satisfying, but no over the top happy ending. Give us something to chew on, something we would remember years after playing the game, maybe even a cliffhanger for the expansion/second game.

I don't even know what sort of story the game will have so how can I have preferences about ending?

Say no to popamole!

I'm all for Fallout-style slideshow-ending, but I really hope that it doesn't in a epilogue sumarizing everyone's further lifes.

Show us the consequences of our actions, but also bring back the old times where we could play the same characters trough 3 - 4 games, until they finally earned their retirement.

The ability to talk your way through the final "battle" using your accumulated diplomacy/intimidation/etc. skills... or at least weaken the enemy considerably by making him lower his guard or something. A reward for the talkers. :)

I remember in Deus Ex: HR (a quality game besides the boss fights which were apparently outsourced) putting all my points into stealth and dialogue, then being thrown into a brutal boss fight that really needed high combat points to get through without a struggle... there was just no room for stealth or dialogue in it.

Dude, that's a huge spoiler right there, with the video.

However, i, personally, found BG ToB, Fallout 1, PS:T endings too depressing. IWD1-2 endings too shallow. Arcanum ending >could< be better. While Fallout 2 ending was great, and with the freeplay!

Aye, That's what really put me off about DX:HR.. Going through a good portion of the beginning doing stealth and such and then getting hit with a sledgehammer with a boss fight. I was like.. what. just happened...
