BREAKING NEWS: NEW EXCLUSIVE FALLOUT 3 TRAILER

Jagged Alliance 2, Silent Storm and Xcom show how that kind of Combat should be done. Fallouts take on it was pretty crappy to my estimation.

In RPG's I don't really need a great combat system. I need it to be serviceable at best, and hopefully easy enough to bypass or play on easy. I play RPG's for character development, atmosphere, and storytelling.

SS combat kicked major ass. I love the desrtuctable terrain aspects.

Exactly. WHich is why it is somewhat important to see the non combat aspects of FO3 before we can make judgements. I really want to see three or four consecutive dialogue screens from a main story quest conversation. The fact that we haven't seen anything yet like that is hardly helping Bethesda hype me on their product.

CRPG combat doesn't have to be good because there are other things going on. So lets see those other things.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

That is why I am holding off final judgment on the game. If they make significant improvements over Oblivion then all might be good.

I base it on the fact that Bestheda sucks period, and the game play in the video looks *boring*. -_-

DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.

Cool Volo, thanks for your input. You can go back to sleep now.

I really want to see how Bethsoft will pull off actual dialogues. They've never ever done them, even in a competent fashion.

That they do to a point. They don't suck as much as EA does.

F3 just sucks period.

Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

They suck worse than EA. EA has made a lot of fun, and awesome games. Beth has made crap after crap with no good stuff.

Wow, Bethesda is getting negative attention. The PR team is soooo gonna get fired.

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Humm....

I cannot think of "a lot" of good EA games at the moment. >_<

"Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum."

Nah they've made good games. Only problem is they wrecked a few franchises and studios along the way.

Also, Fallout 3 does not look as bad as I was fearing - I'll probably still pick a copy up unless they use a lot of DRM or I find out it's horrible. >_<

Considering Oblivion had virtually no DRM (a simple cd-check and that was it), it seems unlikely they'll all of a sudden go down that path.

Like many others, I haven't seen anything to really convince me to one way or the other yet.

SODOFF Steam group.

In case people haven't seen this, probably the best hands on preview of Fallout 3. Made by someone who seems to actually know what he is talking about.
