Yeah (I opened and maitained it) - but to be fair the builds there are not that new. Most of the non-day-one-builds still work perfectly fine though.

But since the foum software update I shy away from editing that list. You can see that the formatting is a bit more complex. It was no big deal with the old forum which supported BBCode - but now that's not an option anymore and thus it's a nightmare to edit.

There are a few new(ish) builds in the forum but I didn't put them in yet because of that reason. I fear I might brick the whole list and would have to reformat and type stuff again... :(

Maybe it would be better to just create new list with builds developed since final patch? Both PoE 1 and PoE 2 lists are outdated in some parts. I mean - these lists are still there for refference.

I'd have no problem with that. May be better for new console players to find a thread/list with post-last-patch builds.

Oh yes please, do this!

Just as an addendum it feels really ****ty coming here as a returning/new player and seeing that the buildlist is apparently outdated by 2 years. (on first glance)

Considering there are a lot of builds and discussions that are a lot more recent though that leaves a super-wrong first impression.

So yeah - defo +1 for an updated Buildlist. If you have time for it obviously. :)

As was already said: the limited editing function of the new forum software prevented updates of the build list for quite some time. Afterwards there were two, maybe three new builds and the interest was quite low. So the list would look kind of sad even if it were up-to-date.

If you think you can compose a comprehensive list of builds for the current version and are motivated to do so then feel free to open a thread. If you then send a PM to a moderator (e.g. @Amentep) in order to pin the thread then they will usually follow.

The old list could get unpinned then and allowed to sink down into the depths of the forum.

All builds that were posted so far can still be found via forum search. Nearly all of them use [class build] or [build] in the title so it's easy to filter.

All builds still work, it's just some of them feel less powerful. But if you look for the strongest builds in 5.0, most of them were never posted...

Might it not be time to post them now though? 5.0 seems like a patch that wont see much iteration anymore?

Hey, thanks for the response! :) I realise I might have come across a bit demanding/harsh and I apologize for that.

Thanks for all the work you do in this forum and all the responses!

Yeah, I did not use the search function really well, I will have to look into that! :)

Speaking very generally, Kaylon, what builds would you consider to be the strongest builds in 5.0?

There are two build categories - for solo and for parties. For solo they're almost non-existent in the list but you can see most of them in action in the videos of the people who did the ultimate or soloed the megabosses (like priest/streetfighter, priest/blood mage, tactician/blood mage, SC monk, paladin/troubadour, assassin/tactician, blood mage/paladin, etc).

The builds used in parties are more specialised and are built around items offering great synergies. You have Frostseeker builds (ghost heart/ascendant, gost heart/helwalker), Lord Darryn's Voulge builds (berserker/tactician, berserker/monk), Rust's Poignard builds (SC rogue or SC assassin), Sun and Moon builds (soulblade/trickster, soul blade/paladin), Sasha's Singing Scimitar (SC bellower, priest/troubadour, bloodmage/troubadour), Red Hand builds (rogue/ghost heart) and I'm sure I still forgot...

There's so much more, like dual mortar SC Helwalker (WotW + Resonant Touch), Scordeo's Edge/Fire in the Hole SC Stalker (Whirling Strikes), dual mortar SC Streetfighter (Vanishing Strikes + Gambit), SC Furyshaper (Blood Ward + DoTs), Heralds in general, SC Stormspeaker (or SC Fury) with dual mortars and Avenging Storm (Blinding Smoke triggers Avenging Storm), Berserker with Grave Calling and a Beckoner friend (killing Beckoner's Skeletons procs Chilling Grave) and whatnot. Depends on the party and how long you can wait until the build fulfills its potential.

One can't simply name like "5 best builds" for a party in general.

Here's an example of a very powerful party involving some of the strongest builds in their category:

  1. tank (caster) - paladin/blood mage
  2. melee AoE DPS - berserker/tactician
  3. melee DPS - soul blade/rogue
  4. ranged AoE DPS/CC - ghost heart/helwalker
  5. ranged + support - priest of skaen/troubadour

Thanks, Kaylon. Steel garrote/blood mage is one of my favorite MCs these days, Berserker/tactician would require micro to make sure that s/he is attacking the same foe as a party member. Am I correct that this is to proc brilliant for resource restoration? Clearly tactician's dilemma isn't too big of a problem, since you'd probably use Captain's banquet to solve the weaknesses of both subclasses. And how effective is Frostseeker these days? I've never used it since the base damage is so low, but I understand with the right build, i.e.,  ghost heart/helwalker, you can proc AOE madness from Garland's rake. I gather this is worth it?

If you want less micro you could do berserker/devoted instead.

Frostseeker with high accuracy does tremendous single and AoE damage by itself and as a monk you can spam Stunning Surge to stun enemies with it (like in PoE1 but without the pet 😃). Monk's Thunderous Blows can also be upgraded to Energized and that will also add interrupting ability to your crits. The AoE also benefits greatly from the high MIG/INT of the helwalker. You can also use mortars instead for AoE stun, but for less damage overall. Since it triggers up to 6 AoE, if you add also Avenging Storm/Combusting Wounds you can clear entire packs of mobs with just a few shots.

Wow, great information Kaylon, Boeror!

Could you guys give me a party-composition like Kaylon just did but with the NPC-Companions?

If you want to keep your party complete until the end and also choose a faction, then you don't have many choices... In general Serafen is considered the weakest overall but he is also required if you go with the Principi... My advice is to always try to have in your party a paladin, a chanter, a cipher and a priest and choose the MC accordingly, in order to have a strong and balanced party.

Kaylon, after looking over your party composition Id say the weak link amongst standard companions is Pallegina/the Paladin role, no? Probably most efficient to play a Herald then.
