  1. Is anyone actually arguing that no one likes VO? I've only pointed out that I prefer partial VO and explained why. I've no doubt that the majority of players prefer fully VO'd games. That said there's another explanation for your observation: good streamers know that different viewers read at different speeds, and some won't read at all (when I 'watch' steams I'm often doing something else and have them on as background noise) so they read the lines to ensure everyone will keep up. Related to this, despite loving these sorts of games I cannot watch let's plays of them: they just go far too slowly for me when I'm not actually the one playing.
  2. I never really had a problem with this in Pillars. With stronghold adventures my companions were rarely much behind the rest of the party, and if they caught a higher level adventure they'd sometimes even overtake the main party.
  3. Still not watched it. I really should get round to doing so.
  4. I assume this is a joke right? Given the amount of sugar she was feeding them: no chance.
  5. I agree that it depends largely on your definition of god. I suppose my point was that if you want to play a rational atheist in a setting where the 'gods' demonstrably exist you can (at least in Eora's case). It's all a bit semantic I guess. In a sense so I'd real world atheism in the sense that we have a specific term for it. Dragon's exist in Eora and not on earth yet we don't have a special term for not believing in dragons. That's because, I think, of the priveleged place gods have in our societies. Since the gods have a similar place in Eoran societies, and demonstrably exist, I'd say the way to rationally be atheist is to deny their godhood. Treat them like any other powerful entity. Not sure if that makes sense. I'm typing this on my phone so can't edit it as well as in my PC.
  6. "Everything said by anyone about the financial state of Obsidian is pure speculation and shouldn't be in any conversation." Because some people prefer partial voice acting? Because, rightly or wrongly, people perceive a link between fully voice acted games and a drop in writing quality? I'm sure there are other reasons.
  7. I completely agree with this, and as such I'd much prefer partial VO (the amount varying depending on the importance of the dialogue). I also agree with Gromnir's point about the money being better spent elsewhere.
  8. How about this: your character has learnt the truth behind the creation of, what the kith call, gods. Not believing in them would indeed be irrational, however are they really gods? What really sets them apart from simply being just another (admittedly extremely powerful) creature like the dragons and arch mages that already inhabit Eora. In particular there's really no reason your character needs to worship them, or even hold them in high regard. However just like any other powerful entity your character might want to temporarily ally himself with them, make use of their power while it serves his purposes.
  9. I heard that there will be unlockable nude skins of varying rarity, and an market in which we can trade them for real world money. I got one an going to make a lot of money trading rare nude skins.
  10. Durance has Perception 9. Not a big difference from 10 for a class that, as you mention, can boost Accuracy massively.
  11. It really depends on what the higher level abilities look like. I'm a big sucker for flashy abilities so if there's something really appealing at power level 8 or 9 I might very well go single class.
  12. I've got next to no experience with the Witcher. For whatever reason the setting just never appealed to me so I've never gotten into it. Hard to say regarding american accents. I can certainly hear differences but I couldn't place most accents. I wonder actually, can most Americans identify where various American accents are from? It's a pretty huge country and I'd guess a lot of Americans only ever visit a tiny fraction of it.
  13. I just noticed that I misread your post and that you said "all [...] but Thaos' name" so yeah, I mostly agree.
  14. Correction: you know there's a mysterious bloke with a weird hat using a weird spinny machine that makes biawacs. I wouldn't say you know all about Thaos at that point in the game.
  15. Great for me to. As a Brit I find it horrible jarring when fantasy characters are given British accents, particularly when they're given arbitrarily chosen regional accents and doubly particularly when it's clear the voice actor isn't a native of that regional accent.
  16. Only if Deadfire follows the same basic plot format as Pillars did, but given what has been revealed about it it won't. The whole thing about Eothas reawakening in the Od Nua statue, draining the Watcher's soul (and everyone else around) and wandering off into the sea is the setup for Deadfire. Unlike Pillars the mystery won't be what has happened but why.
  17. If Deadfire were a book the stuff about Eothas draining your soul and setting off into the sea would be part of the blurb. It's the setup of the story.
  18. Really? I'd rate them as perhaps the worst of the specialist mages.
  19. Only a bit? I cringed a lot. I'm also fairly certain it's not going to be a modified Eminem song that brings Josh back to these forums
  20. Great news all round Cdiaz. Thanks for letting us know.
