Kindergartner Quest
Amentep replied to Kill0byte's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Is this an issue, or is it intentional that the kindergartner doesn't stay after stuff goes exploding in the air? -
O Canada quest bug
Amentep replied to Poppernaut's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
4-6 hour delay to fix a problem on their server that did not require them to release a patch on PSN, get sony's approval or to change the game that would require testing of the game to make sure it didn't break something else. Regarding the "no result", J. Burke (or one of the other devs) posted that they identified what the problem is, there will be a fix in the patch and that the patch will fix existing "old" saves so it won't require restarting. They just don't know when the patch will be released since it has to be tested and approved (presumably by Ubisoft, Steam, Sony, Microsoft - but that's an assumption on my part) Probably, which is sad because its a good game if the bugs are fixed and it doesn't help Obsidian's reputation for good but buggy releases (KotOR 2, somewhat undeservedly for Alpha Protocol), despite the amount of time they spent trying to work on that end of their production. Eh...its my tenth year here (I joined Feb 2004) so I'm averaging...283 posts a year roughly? (I actually post more as of late; there were a few years I just lurked here). I came over after I'd heard the company was founded, having been a fan of the late, lamented Black Isle Studios. So...I'm a fan, not an employee...unless you count having met Josh Sawyer and Chris Avelone once at a convention. And I hope I haven't discounted your frustration; since this is a peer-to-peer support forum I'm trying to be helpful, and since not everyone has read every post (such as the post discussing that the patch needed testing and approval, or the post about the planed fix for O Canada Bug being compatible with old saves), I'm trying to help spread information. But I also feel that there is some disinformation that perhaps needs to be challenged as well (but that my be the apologist/fan in me, sorry if it grates on your nerves). -
These links might contain about as much as is known http://skylandgames.wordpress.com/2013/02/18/the-strange-case-of-dave-a-trampier/ http://thecastlesramparts.blogspot.com/2014/03/dave-trampier-wormy-artist-passes-away.html As near as I've ever been able to tell, Trampier had some issue with TSR and stopped cashing their checks, which is typically a sign someone is dead so they stopped running the strips unable to actually buy them. What his issue with TSR was, though, I don't think is known.

O Canada quest bug
Amentep replied to Poppernaut's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Several people have mentioned that they have passed the point where reloading an old save will solve the error so you must take this into consideration. I think - and may be wrong - is that it will work with any save that still exists in the bug state when the patch is applied. I'm assuming (yeah I know) that by "old save" he's thinking people might start up a new game, which will write over the autosaves (but not the manual save files). -
XBox 360 Game breaking bug - Clyde's Tower
Amentep replied to macdonc2's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Have you tried going out of the tree, go around to the back, shrinking down the hole and climbing the pipe to the second level? I have NO CLUE if it'll work, just wondering if (A) you try to load a different screen if it'll help and (b) if you haven't fought the mice if and you do if that will help. Other question, do you have an autosave from the start of Clyde's fortress you could restart from (so you loose only the first part of the fortress you've done)? -
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/03/28/iconic-dd-artist-david-a-trampier-1954-2014/ Bleeding Cool is reporting AD&D and Wormy artist David Trampier has passed away. A lot of the "cool" factor to me on the old AD&D 1st edition was the cool art, and Trampier's art was always distinctive - as was his work for Dungeon magazine.

O Canada quest bug
Amentep replied to Poppernaut's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
That's not what he's saying, what he's saying is that this support forum is for customer-to-customer support and that he's here trying to help posters on his own time. From the FAQ - http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/65296-support-faq-please-read-before-posting/ - Since the official support for the game is being handled by ubisoft, while he is officially working on fixes with whatever fix team is at Obsidian looking at the bugs, anything here is peer-to-peer or a Obsidian employee helping in their spare time. The save problem for Naughty Dog's THE LAST OF US involved their server, which they changed rather than patching the game, according to what I read about it. I'd imagine that made a rather big difference. From http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/14/serious-auto-save-problems-plague-the-last-of-us -
"Unable to create direct3d device error"
Amentep replied to Tomekandr3451's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Since Mr. Burke asked, I'm sure he's seen your response to his dxdiag request. Perhaps there's not an answer yet? -
A lot of PC recommendations I've seen have started by asking if you've done a re-verify and/or re-install the game. To re-verify the game files from within steam itself, you log into steam, then go to your steam library. Right click on the stick of truth and click properties, followed by a click on local files. Click verify integrity of game cache. Have you attempted this? I still can't find an online guide to the inputs for the fighter's ability, alas.

Well, her action outfit was also pretty much a plus as well, to me at least.

O Canada quest bug
Amentep replied to Poppernaut's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Well...maybe. Depends on how they have to test the fix to ensure that it doesn't introduce other bugs, I'd think. if they have to, lets say, test a series of key game points over the course of a game using each of the classes (to make sure that a class specific bug hasn't been introduced) and those points are the same whether they are testing one fix or 100 fixes, then there really is no time savings. If they have less points to test to make sure one fix doesn't break the game elsewhere and many more points with every fix added than sure it would be faster. I'm under the impression its the former, not the later, but not being a game developer I can't say that for certain! -

^I understand your frustration, but even releasing one fix in a patch they'd have to QA it then get it approved for release on the various platforms which means it wouldn't be an immediate fix. -
Defeat ManBearPig not unlocking
Amentep replied to GloryChicken's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
It didn't unlock for me until sometime after I'd defeated Al Gore, IIRC. Unfortunately I can't say how long after and I'm not back at that point yet in the game, but it didn't happen immediately. I recall because I was midway through another quest when I got Al's message that ManBearPig was attacking near the church. -
I had a problem with the font going haywire on the PS3 version (although in this case it was all of the text BUT the PS button images). Saving the game, turning off the PS3 then restarting and reloading caused the font to come in. I'm going to guess that didn't work for you. Unfortunately I can't find anything online with a guide to the fighter ability keys for the PC version, but hopefully someone with the PC version can answer soon (if not answer with a way to fix the text prompts in game).

New Battlestar Galactica sucked during the original miniseries, IMO. Maybe not that bad, but I felt it obvious and manipulative in ways that made it unwatchable to me. Kind of hard to do a recommendations without knowing what you've already seen and liked/disliked.

It was made 17 years after the original and had no input from Bluth, so... (I remember seeing Secret of NIMH in theaters on first run...)

O Canada quest bug
Amentep replied to Poppernaut's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I think it would be a lot easier to be patient if you could tell us what exactly is so time consuming on fixing a broken quest. Is your quest engine buried in such chaos that you cant simply set flags to handle quest related items? What about the solutions suggested here in the forum, a npc whos main purpose is to help those who suffer from the bug? Those things dont take much time and will calm down the people since they will be able to continue with the game. The first report on this issue (the OP) is from the 6th of march. Now 20 days later you still tell us its being worked on and you ask us to be patient. Most of us paid 60$ just for a couple of hours till the game breaking bug appears and we are still waiting for you to fix this. Dont get me wrong but its not you who can demand some patience from us, it is us who can demand what we paid for! This is EA style I'm pretty sure they've said in other threads (if not this one) that the patches have to go through QA and then approval for release via PSN/whatever Xbox's network is. (using your example, introducing an NPC who can get you around the bug might create other problems in the game and would have to be tested to make sure the fix isn't introducing a new game breaking bug) They're probably also not releasing 1 patch for every bug, but are probably working on a big patch to hit a lot of the most common bugs being reported. -
There should be three fights in the opening, I think he's on the third, while the one you describe is the second - riposting/reflecting (it doesn't matter which order the elves are hit on the regular screen, the battles end up the same order every time) Initial one should include - take damage → using items → blocking and counter attack. Second one should be - riposting → attack riposted after Cartman says the guys just standing there so hit him → given bow → kill back elf w/bow → front elf switches from riposting to reflecting and is now vulnerable to physical attack or power attack. Since the poster said he's got the bow (introduced in the fight) he's on the third fight. IIRC he's supposed to multiple hit attack the armored elf (upper character using the normal attack and the "X" button the rogue should get three hits), then when multiple hits are landed and the character is killed, he's supposed to then hit the high defensive character with his Rogue's dagger's "hard" hit (the square button on the PS3). Neither character should be in a reflecting/reposting stance IIRC. Assuming he's done that, and its not letting him go on I'm at a loss. At a thought, I'm wondering if he used a "X" attack on the last attack of the third elf fight instead of a "square" and that's created the problem?

drop fenris and we is in sync. fenris were... cartoony. a super-powered slave who were tortured by former master so that now he is all morose and grumbly-- just needs a hug from a good woman to... *shudder.* am also thinking we liked merrill for what she coulda' been more than what she was. HA! Good Fun! I can understand your reservation against Fenris. Never followed a romance with him. And I can't disagree that Merrill couldn't have been better handled/developed into an even more interesting character. I'll admit I liked the delivery both Voice Actors brought to the role which may help me gloss over deficiencies in the character.

I'm okay with that.

Eh, I liked Fenris, Avelline, Merrill and or course Varric (probably my favorite Party NPC in any DA game I've played). The siblings I liked for their roles in the story and how they develop as much as they do. Isabella...I understand why people like her, having finally spent the time to find out her story but ultimately I can't say I ever warmed up to her character and (IMO of course) Anders is a ****.

O Canada quest bug
Amentep replied to Poppernaut's question in South Park: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
To be fair, I only got one glitch in the game which involved the font becoming unreadable. Which happened like 3 minutes into the game when Cartman is trying to explain turn based combat. Note, I backed up save states outside of the autosave feature to leave a trail of game saves I could go back to. Ended up not needing any of them. But - again to be fair - I'd heard people having the O Canada! bug before I started playing so I knew to do the quest, as it was, without deviating. Left exploring heavily until after I'd gotten through the quest part, so I know I missed that bug through prior knowledge other players might not have had. Funny you should mention the PC "control scheme" since the people in an earlier thread about the difficulty of doing the "button mashing" claimed the game was made for a console control scheme... -
All "American" aren't white, its down to the type of chicken laying the egg. Weird that that is even a thing.
