Sir, by dumping the pet, or making the ranger more melee-orientated, you take away the very things that make it unique. Rogue more than covers the DPS melee or melee/ranged hybrid front. Not that I play with rangers much, but if any thing, the remaining subclass should probably be a dedicated archer.

Effectively an early mortar launcher, I'm betting. Unique to one of the companions, isn't it? Yeah, unique to the pirate orlan whose name escapes me at this moment. Apart from that, I haven't heard anything about special ammo. Was under the impression that all ammo was scrapped because people don't want to use 100s of inventory slots for arrows and bullets. The bayonet idea is kind of interesting (reading the Shadow Campaigns by Django Wexler now, so bayonets are very much on the brain). Less accuracy maybe, but when an enemy comes into melee range, the character automatically starts stabbing instead? That would be cool. Not sure if it matches the setting though.

Thanks, will check it out! We already do. Really!? Why am I missing out on all the free sex then!? You're going to tell me that I was born a Gamma because I'm short, right?

Here's the thing: Although the godlike are often stereotyped as having certain personalities or proclivities by the people of Eora, they actually don't. Nothing in the lore, anywhere, indicates that any kind of godlike are particularly prone to any particular kind of personality structure. We only meet *one* Bird-godlike and *one* Death godlike, as far as I know, so we can't judge all Godlikes of that type based on the sample of one. People seem to act as if they expect Godlike to behave in certain ways, but they act the same way about Orlan. Nothing says that's true. So to say that the types and personality for this type or that type don't match, well I don't think that's a bug. I think that's a feature. Yeah. That's kind of interesting. They should be "Champions" of their respective gods, and YET, like Pallegina, they still have the free will to say "no thanks". However, Fire/Death Gods look so much like monsters, that its hard to imagine them fitting into normal society regardless of what they decide. They should actually play like Nosferato in Vampire: the Masquerade (ie people run and scream if they see you). That would have been nice. They're a tiny bit over the top aren't they? The new fire Godlike for Deadfire looks like Ifrit from Final Fantasy. Cool, but doesn't quite fit in.

That's a surprisingly Zen attitude you have there So your bro reckons that all these nazis are going to float to the top, huh? Still, could they really do anything without the support of the people? It seems to me that the American people are very vocal whenever they perceive an injustice to have been carried out, and nazi is still a synonym for evil in most circles. (They should change their name, and get a new PR agent.)

Ah, I see. Israel is at the heart of the Abrahamic religions, so they some wiggle room on religious grounds. Still, for all that, Israel is hardly a major world power... Anyway, it sounds like you have a dysfunctional family. Must make family dinners awkward...

Would it sound crazy if I said that C is the strangest to me? I mean, there have always been racists and traditionalists but... where does this "Jewish people run the world from the shadows" stuff come from? *shakes head* Maybe being stationed overseas fighting foreigners makes you think of other races as "the enemy"? Sort of. The number of foreigners living here is very low. Only about 1-2% of the population. It's also well known that they take in very few refugees. (Out of the thousands that apply they only take in a handful.) And Japan is a very stable country, that runs like clockwork. So you could call that a "successful ethno-state". But whether their homogeneity is a factor that directly led to their success or not is of course debatable.

I seem to recall a mod that changed their names, but not one that deletes them completely. They're working on the effect stacking problem. One thing they've said is that different attributes will be linked to different item slots. So for example, you might find gloves or boots that increase your dex, but never a helm that increases your dex. This way, even if effect stacking is allowed, it won't get too crazy because you can't put items buffing the same attribute in every single slot.

I don't really know anything about American politics, so I'm probably missing lots of background info here but... I guess your talented brother just fell in with a bad crowd? What exactly does he believe? He wants to kill Jewish people?

What ending did you choose?
Heijoushin replied to dirigible's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
That's actually a very interesting question, which deserves more attention than the "Are the Gods real?" waffle. If it were modern times, I'd go with Galawain, since a generation of industrious strong-willed individuals could really change a country for the better, whereas a population boom might cause other problems in the long-run. On the other hand, in older times with undeveloped medical technology (like Pillars), since few children survived to adulthood and you needed more "bodies" for physical labour and the army, I think Dyrwood desperately needs the extra population. Hylea, at the time, struck me as the "right" answer, because its the most direct way to reverse the damage, prove the curse is over, and help the families who looked after their hollowborn children... but I suppose it could also lead to some pretty messed up situations. Expansion doesn't expand on that. But I'm MEGA CURIOUS about what will happen in Deadfire if you support her. Since she's known to "break the rules" when helping her favorites, I'd like a nice big reward for selling my soul(s) to the devil. -
How dare you, sir! I'll have you know that I studied RPG writing at Professor Xavier's School for the Gifted! j/k. Yeah, they were pretty universally hated. And besides the problems you mentioned, they also increased Eora's Godlike population tenfold, which was pretty unnatural. Never fear, this time I think the worst we'll have to deal with is backer-created SUPER PETS.

I don't like the idea of Portrait DLC...
Heijoushin replied to SonicMage117's topic in Computer and Console
If we must have DLC, then I wish the portrait pack was for Pillars instead, because at least with Pillars you're making 6 people (unless you use companions obviously) and you require a lot more variety (since there are multiple races etc.). For Tyranny? It's an odd decision. But looking forward to what comes next. -
CO-OP
Heijoushin replied to FreeMayk's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Actually, if you'd checked the other thread, you'd know that 70/80 players fully agree with you -
Uh... is this satire? Because I haven't read such a fanfic-like plot since Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

[Honest] When Josh was asked about this on Q&A, he said that they didn't want to overdo it. Something to the effect of: It would get boring real fast if every single person said "Oh my god, a godlike!" [Rational] I would argue that your disposition should reset with every city. I mean, your reputation is spread by gossip, yes? If you do something amazing, it might spread far and wide, but is your making aggressive or saucy statements really newsworthy on the other side of the country? [Jerk] Now stop asking questions, and go and do some fetch and carry quests for me.

*beep beep* Epic truth detected.

^--- I love people who directly address the devs. (I'm afraid they don't respond much on the forums) I also love NWN. But since Obsidian now has their own DnD-esque setting in the form of Pillars, I can't see that they'll go through all the legal hoops just to get another (arguably similar) DnD game. All their creativity and resources will probably go to Pillars.

Interesting. I have never heard the term "floozy" before. Anyway, considering that you go into combat and various life-threatening situations with these people, I would think that you would bond with them quite fast. People mistake adrenaline for love and all that.

Yeah. I think in the old days, when characters were a lot less detailed, as long as you got the coloring vaguely correct, you could slap any portrait unto any character model. Now, ironically, with more detailed character creation, its more frustrating to match your character to a portrait. Especially true of the Godlike.
-
That's it? A portrait pack? Don't get me long, I LOVE portraits, but considering we're talking about Tyranny, a game synonymous with "unfinished", I can't help but feel those efforts could have been better directed elsewhere...

Yeah, I agree. I mean, is the watcher really worth carrying over? Unlike Shepard, he/she is not even defined as a character. I'm guessing they just liked the soul reading ability, and didn't want to put another protagonist through a biawac. lol, did you know 87% of statistics are made up on the spot
-
Lame excuse though it may be, giving the player access to end-game equipment right in the beginning is balance breaking, right? Honestly, I wish there was a new protagonist instead of the watcher. It would save the developers having to make a lot of silly excuses for continuity issues. "Uh... yeah, the watcher just has amnesia! From getting hit on the head so many times in PoE1, you see? That's why he has to ask about everything again!" "Uh, no, the watcher had his soul sucked by Eothas, that's why he needs to relearn basic swordsmanship!" "Ummm... the watcher had some financial issues... too many nights at the Salty Mast. He had to sell off most of his assets, including the Hammer of Abydon." etc etc.

Games You Would Like to See as an Obsidian Isometric Game?
Heijoushin replied to DaCobbler's topic in Computer and Console
Well, of course you're free to your heretic, blasphemous opinions But I think one problem with first person games, is that they don't really work for parties. It's just hard to control companions from a first person perspective. I think you could make Arcanum's world 3D, but it would be a solo adventure.
