  1. Ha, I'd like to see almost any RPG remade as an isometric game. They just feel so much smoother than clunky 3D 1st person games (or is it just me?)
  2. Japanese problems: "I just invited him to duel, and now he's getting the wrong idea..." (Background: This was an ad on the train. It made my day.)
  3. I think the merchants in Pillars did have a few good pieces. Tall Grass comes to mind as a good early pike, and there's lots of little stat boosting items to fill out your equipment early on. WM had the Raiment of Wael's Eyes sold in Stalwart. But yeah, I'm all for merchants having cool stuff. Part of what makes a new city fun to explore is the shops and items on sale.
  4. Just popping in to ask: Has anyone seen the new Power Rangers movie? Is it any good?
  5. So, after hearing all the bad news about Andromeda (and frankly, feeling a little intimidated by its large AAA price tag), I decided to buy another game instead. Namely, Zero Escape: The Nonary Games. Another semi-visual novel by Chunsoft about 9 strangers who are kidnapped by a psycho and put into a death game. Oh Japanese people, you and your death games
  6. You Italian chaps must tell Obsidian to "O mangiar questa minestra o saltar questa finestra!" (hehe, that expression is so funny) Just kidding. I hope you guys get your Italian version, and I pray that there are no incidents like with Tides of Numenera...
  7. Crpg always struck me as a strange term to describe these games. I mean, it stands for "computer RPG", right? Isn't any RPG played on a PC a crpg? Isometric RPG (I-RPG) might be more descriptive.
  8. Thank you for the developer comment! lol, there you go OP. If Dimitri had felt optimistic and said "10" on that day, history would be different
  9. You aint kidding. I don't really mind, but I am sort of glad I didn't back eastern reach and get saddled with another badge. Speaking of, what's the "Deadfire Watcher" badge for? That's what I came to ask. Slip the beans Karkarov!
  10. Good thing you held yourself back and didn't make a joke there
  11. To answer OP: Nah, I think we might get some very light romantic moments, but not full Mass Effect sex scenes. My 2 cents: The problem with romance/sex in games is that it generally doesn't add anything mechanically. Games like Vampire Bloodlines work because successful romance leads to a mechanical benefit (ie you can suck blood outta them). Okay, sleeping with hookers in PoE1 granted some bonuses, but that's pretty weak IMHO. (Near the end of PoE development, the strategy to make anything relevant seems to have been "add rest bonuses!")
  12. Presumably those other Godlikes do exist, but are just not playable races at this stage. A minor correction, I believe that Death Godlike come from Berath, not Rymgand. Rymgand's domains include cold, winter and entropy, so I imagine he would spawn an Ice Godlike. It's indeed difficult to imagine Godlike for some of the others. You'd think that if Woedica could make them, the game's primary antagonist would be one.
  13. I have good memories of Tekken & Street Fighter (yeah, pretty standard). Even Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter had their moments. I’m looking forward to Tekken 7 coming out in June, but at the same time, I’m starting to feel terribly jaded about most of these series, simply because each iteration doesn’t really seem to add much. In fact, sometimes they go backwards! (Tekken 6: all I wanted was a normal story mode, and you screwed that up) I guess that compared to other genres, fighters haven’t really evolved much over the years. All developers seem to do to them nowadays is add silly items to customize your characters. I haven’t really played any waifu fighters. But I’m sorry that your real waifu doesn’t understand
  14. Starcraft Remastered http://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-reveals-starcraft-remastered-set-for-release-this-summer/ This came out of the blue. I do believe I'm looking forward to redoing the old campaign.
  15. Busy reading The Shadow Campaigns by Django Welxer. I'm not a SJW or anything but I must admit that the dude writes really good quality female characters. I mean, I find that authors aren't usually very good at writing the opposite gender. Men in books by a female author sometimes strike me as very effeminate in their thinking, and well, women in fantasy books are often described as 2-dimensional, right?
  16. That's a little harsh don't you think? Completely new storyline, reworked graphics engine, fresh companions etc. etc. is a more than an expansion. But I think its a safe bet that they'll add/modify/improve spells.
  17. I'm a number 2 of course. You're welcome to expand on why I'm being so foolish He is indeed. And he must have had an amazing mind to come up with that book in 1932. I haven't read those, I'll give 'em a try!
  18. I am fine thank you. Yes, i have read it. You missed one (and arguably the most relevant one) question at the bottom of the post
  19. I've just realized that I want a Darcozzi Paladini companion. Pallegina takes things way too seriously. I want a paladin who makes witty remarks and teaches me how to love life. Also, I think the concept of Darcozzi Paladini needs a little fleshing out. How exactly does one go about advancing the interests of the Darcozzi family?
  20. You should add a poll. I guess you mean mechanically, but I'm gonna answer in terms of lore. Lore-wise, I like them in this order: 1. Bleak Walkers 2. Goldpact Knights 3. Darcozzi Paladini 4. Kind Wayfarers / Shieldbearers of St. Elcga Both the Bleak Walkers and Goldpact Knights are really solid in terms of philosophy. It's clear how they operate and what their goals are. The BW seem really evil, but in the best case scenario, the enemy actually surrenders without a battle, avoiding pointless bloodshed. And I enjoy the moral dilemma of a GPK who might be ordered to do something he considers ethically reprehensible but is forced to obey due to his loyalty to the contract. The Darcozzi Paladini seem like an interesting concept. I mean, witty paladins who take some pleasure in life sounds cool, right? (I wouldn't mind a DP companion actually). But I find their philosophy a little vague to roleplay. It says that they're "ambassadors of the Darcozzi family and Old Valian culture". How can you roleplay a cultural ambassador in a game where Old Valia isn't even mentioned much? (Is the Darcozzi family ever mentioned?) How does doing random quests in the Dyrwood advance the interests of Old Valian culture? Kind Wayfarers and Shieldbearers of St. Elcga just seem like kind of vanilla goody-two-shoes paladins.
  21. lol, can't quite tell if your first sentence is sarcastic or sincere. It seems like a pretty sweet deal to me. Like 1984 & Starship Troopers, it was also incredibly amusing to read a story about the future written so far in the past. And also about so many topics that would be considered sensitive today. Ha, I'm glad we never did this in school, it might have killed the enjoyment for me! I'll check out this Amusing Ourselves to Death as well.
  22. The sad thing is that Bernard could have gotten laid any time he wanted. Society was literally designed to be in his favor, and he still couldn't pull it off.
  23. How are you gentlemen, Have any of your read the classic Brave New World? I only read it for the first time last year, and thought it was brilliant. I know it’s really old, but I was wondering if any of you would be interested in discussing it? For those who haven't read it: Within this book, all citizens are genetically engineered and psychologically conditioned to be a perfect match for the work they will be assigned. There are 5 ranks (Alpha – Epsilon). Alphas are genetically superior in terms of looks, intelligence and physique. They’re generally the leaders, scientists and creative minds of the society. Betas seem to be more-or-less average joes. Gammas and Deltas are a little smaller physically, with low IQs. At the bottom are the Epsilons, who are semi-retarded, and given only the simplest, most menial jobs. (Oh yeah, Gamma – Epsilon are also produced in batches of identical clones) You might think this is a clear case of “nobility” reigning over the lower classes, but unlike in other novels, the lower classes never revolt, since they are engineered to be perfectly happy in their work. A lot of us are unhappy because we are in jobs which are not stimulating/not challenging enough or too challenging for us, but this system sort of removes this problem. Of course, in the book, there are a couple of unhappy characters (without unhappiness, there would be no plot), but they seem to be the eccentric ones, not the general rule. Additionally, the family unit has been disbanded, with all children being raised by the state. As added bonuses, you get to retain your youthful appearance right up until the day of your death (People die around age 60 in this book. I can’t help but think that this number would have been higher if it was written more recently), there is lots of sex (society expects you to sleep with multiple people) and lots of drugs (if you’re feeling down, you just take your “medicine”). The down sides seem to be lots of compulsory communal activities, no family units, lots of consumerism, general brainwashing of the population, group mentality and lack of goals/competition/challenges. Apparently this is supposed to be a “negative utopia”, but it sounds like a pretty good deal to me. If you’re an Alpha or Beta, you enjoy 60 years of pleasant promiscuity. If you’re gamma – epsilon, your life probably sucks a little, but you’re too stupid to notice. Would you guys want to live in a Brave New World?
  24. Ah, that's why you have the cool new forum badge!
