I dunno. Did you think that playing as a character with massive horns or protruding bits or whose head is on fire, like literally burning constantly, like you're a human torch dude wow, would allow you to choose the option to disguise yourself with a cloth hood? You're a distrusted and feared racial minority. Of course that's going to come with consequences. Sometimes that's going to come in handy (ie fire godlike can set stuff on fire without having to use up a torch) and sometimes it's going to make things harder. That's the joy of role playing and making choices - it means that some paths are going to close down and others will open up and as a result you'll have different experiences to other players.

Buffer class?
MasterPrudent replied to Malsanity's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Summons are very handy, no doubt, but the chanter's damage, debuff and crowd control invocations are nothing to sneeze at. -
Not gaining combat XP?
MasterPrudent replied to Wolfenswan's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Are you sure it's not because you filled out the bestiary for that particular creature? You only get combat xp from non-kith adversaries and only until you know everything there is to know about them. -
How do you open the console?
MasterPrudent replied to Oxford_Guy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Iirc from an earlier thread opening the console and changing the zoom parameters does not. It's only if you enable other commands by typing iroll20s that you disable achievements (only for that playthrough though). I'll try to dig up the dev post and link it here. EDIT: dev posts: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70495-the-range-of-zoom-amount-seems-very-limited/?do=findComment&comment=1569430 http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/70495-the-range-of-zoom-amount-seems-very-limited/?do=findComment&comment=1569432 -
Well I haven't run the numbers on it but I would disagree. Between duel wielding itself, the bonus you get from taking duel wield style and the bonus from high dexterity you can significantly increase the speed of your attacks. As a cypher you need to hack and slash (or shoot) because you build up a mana-like resource (called focus) that powers your spells from physical attacks. They only thing to keep in mind with a duel wielding melee cypher is that you will be pretty squishy so it's worth sending in your cypher after you lock down the battlefield with tank-ier characters.

game release issues on steam
MasterPrudent replied to snow0815's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I was wondering why that was happening. Or rather wasn't happening. -
Buffer class?
MasterPrudent replied to Malsanity's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
You don't have to take the chanter's summon invocations if you don't want to. There's only about six of them in total and at every level there are many other invocations you can take instead. Paladins can tank and buff at the same time - once you switch on an aura it just keeps going for the rest of combat and your paladin is free to do other stuff. Having said that paladins don't have the variety of buffs that chanters and priests do so they're probably not ideal for you. You can always put a priest in the second rank with a pike if you want to and, for the most part, if you're close enough to heal, you're close enough to buff. Edit: More detail added and spelling fixed. -
The advantage of duel wielding is that you get fast weapon attacks so I'd get high dexterity to help with that. High Int doesn't have any direct applications for duel wielding but it's very useful if you go with a barbarian as it gives them larger aoe attacks. Any class can benefit from duel wielding. Fighters, barbarians, rogues, rangers and ciphers are all particularly good choices.

Loading screen game crash
MasterPrudent replied to Youngx's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
It might be the amount of RAM you have as it's 1GB under the minimum. If you haven't already it' worth making sure that no other programs are running while you're playing Pillars. -
Player Manual - Steam
MasterPrudent replied to Andron's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yep. Keep in mind that it's already out of date in many regards though. There's a list of errata here: http://eternity.obsidian.net/game/manual-errata -
Stronghold: Party Members
MasterPrudent replied to Bryy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
As far as I know you'd just open up the party manager and switch the characters out. Not sure where the spare character would go though... -
Update 91: Closing in on March 26th!
MasterPrudent replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Keep in mind guys that the manual is out of date and contains a number of errors: http://eternity.obsidian.net/game/manual-errata -
There's a manual in Steam (link is in the right pane) but it's a little outdated at this stage due to last minute tinkering (errata here: http://eternity.obsidian.net/game/manual-errata). There is a brief rundown on the characters in char gen and there are tutorial pop ups throughout the game that you can enable but I'm not sure to what extent the latter will deal with classes. Edit: oh and Sensuki made a detailed video that intros the classes: He also made a couple of other videos detailing mechanics as well. You'll find them if you check his channel.
