  1. There was a thread about sexual content in game .. the poeple reaction was "NO !" .. but as i see from this poll 302 people out of 364 want romance ... why ? I think that people have realy narrow-minded in that subject. Becouse the only (non real) type of romances they have discovered are from games like BG or BG .. NWN2 or even latest biowere romances ... I recently started to read a romances and watch some of romance anime (but not those stupid ones) and i jumped to a simple conclusion ... I did not seen any type of sexual behavior (beside kissing or wake up next someone) why ? Mayby becouse the whole idea in romances or "love stories" in not so much for ego like "oh you awsome" (in most anime they do even oppisite) or sex sxenes .. but some king of "Happy life" ending .. For example "The hero who save the villidge, now lives happly with his new wife and his old friends, now he is playing with his son, and somethimes even forgets the horrible experiencec from past etc etc" ... The problem with most characters form role playing side is that the most of them "at least those who have some brain" will not be adventurer whole life .. so besiacly some day most of characters will want to settle ... and live somewhere get old etc ... And i think now that romances or love in games, films etc ... are not so much for ego but for some kind of promise that your character will live happly and you don't waste your efforts ... For example how whoud you feel .. when you win the and ..you wake up ! (you discover that you where deaming whole time) ? how whoud you feel if you kill the arch-evil .. but then whole bulding colapse on you and you and your whole party are dead and you didn't save the "World" ? It's ok if it's optional but not if its the only possibility .. From role playing side .. forceing someone (who made his own character) in romance .. is as bad as .. forceing someone (who made his own character) in not having romance ... By the way ... is there are any news about this subiect ?

  4. SophosTheWise In general i think the whole idea about "Becoming god" is one reason many players .. chose rpg not action game like GTA. I personaly havo no object about becoming a guy that destroy whole villidge witch one sword blow ... but only if i have the same powerfull or even more powerful oponents ... The fantasy setting gives oportunity to feel like half-god or demi-god .. and very powerfull characters in my opinion are the consecuence of that dreams ... Beside the dragon ball level o power (in 1/2 of dragon ball saga they were able to distoy whole planet) ... but i think that most players want to feel as strong as possible ... maybie in magic, mayby in brutal force, mayby in stalth and lockpicking skills ... The reason is simple ... ego . ... Thats wy many people chose rpg games ... why ? Becouse if you make the right progress decisions you get reward of becoming "Some-one raly powerfull". The skyrim issu is that you are powerfull ... and almost no body else ... Secondy ... the titles of "Archmage, master rouge etc" ... i think that is bad of thinking that you can get powerfull in both ... For exampe ... i want to become so powerfull fighter then one sword blow distoy whole vilidge .. but ... have big disadvantege in magic resistance ... im a bleach fan .. as you can assume from my nick and avatar .. i there they have big powerlevels ... the main character where powerful ... but in most cases his oponents where more powerfull ... even if we don't have possibility to become something more then human (beside of elfs etc) and we don't get the same powerlevels i will survive ...but it doesen't mean that big powerlevels (beside od ridiculus DBZ power levels) are bad ... it all goes down to world desin .. you may play a game where you are demi-god at the beginning and discover that even a goblin is also a demi-god ant what then ? the same as putting "Realistic" power levels .. but less explosions .. and less emotions from fighting ...
  5. The part about "killing those who kill rabbits" was a ironical joke ... If you ever played NWN Shadows of undertine (or something like that) you know what i meant by "Forceing me to be protector of the nature or servant of the nature". In first dialog about your abilitis is "He will test my abilitis of nature knowing becouse im servant of the nature" ... and i was playing ranger not druid ... The second dialog on your abilitis when a dragon asks you about them and ranger option is "I am servant of the nature" ... and the funny part is that dragon say "A nature ? WTF ? A nature need servant nowadays ? haha" .... even dragon was laughing of me ... I don't want to be forced to be a ranger mix between aragorn, drizzt, archer, hunter, park ranger, militaty officer and eko-terrorist or eko-crusaider ... In my opinion ranger class is simply bad desined ... becose from mechanical level it's simpy more fighting druid with some rogue skills ... And for role playing side .. it's simply to much "General" .. it is almost the same as putting paladin, dark paladin, barberian, warrior, and duelist itu one class and saing that this is "Fighter" ... All other classes are wery dafined Fighter is warior that concentrate on wepon specialization and technics, barberian is fighter that concentrate on rage, paladin is fighter that concentrate on lidership and undead-destroying etc.... Ranger is to much general ... and i don't say that wee need to make 4 more classes like "park ranger", "Archer", "Aragorn-fanboy" and "Hunter" .. but i think that this class must have some specializations like priests in Icewind dale 2 ... For example you take ranger and then take a "Hunter" specialization .. and you don't see "Ranger" class but "Hunter" ... if you take "Rabbit-protector" specialization then you see not "Ranger" class but "Rabbit-protector" ... and if you take "Typical ranger" you see then "Ranger" as your class ... The same mechanics as "Illusionist" (mage specialization) from BG ... Everybody happy, i have my hunter, you have your other variations and even if someone don't want other specialization he takes "Ranger" and problem solved ...

  7. Yes but don't putt them in the box "lawful evil" "Natural very natural" or "chaotic good" ... let me decide if they are bad or good ... and even if they are wrong ... at least let them be logical ... (so i can logical persuade them if theyr wrong)

Beciavlt the vamps, were-cratures, and hybrids anr the less complecated to input (were form for were-cratures, color changing for vampires, color changeing for hubrids + addicional traits (sometimes simmilar to godlike) ... The problem are undead like lich or constructal based ... but they are also easy to input ... The biggest problem in my opinion is reactions and main plot .... as necromate sad in NWN even if you have wings or sceleton arm still .. not bady gives a **** .... them ! If i whoud seen a winged man in dark alle i whoud propably **** myself ... a very brave people must live in NWN hahaha
  9. I did not play WoW so i don't know ... Besiaclt the D&D ranger is just mixture ... of Aragorn, Drizt, Archer, hunter, nature specialist (that knows witch berries are good and witch are poisonus) and driud.... The rogue class is mixture of pickpocking, trap user, lockpicker, diplomat, merchant and other ... In general all rogues can specjalize in 1 or two this things ... but are not aginst other ... In ranger there is many things that don't fitt ... IF i want to play a park ranger that kills people becouse of rabbits ... (more forest protector wariation) or im simply warrior that knows a little bit of a nature (more Aragorn, Drizzt variation) or i want to plat hunter, poacher that kills for monenet or i play a hunter that hunt orcs becouse of revange ... this 4 archetips don't fitt in 1 class ... The 1 is opposite to the 2,3,4 options ... In rogue class a trapp rogue, or lockpicker whoud not fight becouse of class opisition ... if they will fight they will becouse of the same reason (money) and they aren a fire and wother ... A ranger is oposiotion to pocher ....
  10. In D&D for becomening lich a person shoud have to make some secret ritual ... and becomening lich change apierence vary much ... Besides the whole "Pale master prestige class" has propably crated for those whou want to poses undead powers ... In oridinal NWN1 if i remember coretly .. at 20 lv (or less) a pale master apierience changed and your left arm becomes sceleton-like ... In skyrim we have option to become Werewolf or Vampire .. and from mechanical side it is done very well BUT it does not have proper athmosphere in my opinion ... And this is sipmply treated as simple addon ... witch i don't want to see ... i want this to become something (plot changeing) ... for example a werewolf offers you his "gift" and you can take it or not .. and even kill that werewolf ... and all those decisions shoud change a game a little .. for example in you take that "gift" you not only become werewolf but some werewolf can help you later (like in DA-O but better) .. id you don't take a gift .. but you walk away ..werewolf become neutral and you don't meet then again ... but if you kill that werewolf, werewolf becomes your enemys .. and a "werewolf-hunters" gulid can contact with you ofering membership ... but that is just simple idea ..
  11. What do you think about an oportunity for gaining some superpowers in game ? Im thinking in general something of plot related or complatly optional. For exampe a mad scientist kidnap you and is making some horrible experiments and you become undead, half-demon etc ... Or mayby in visiting a old mantion a Vampire bites you and you become vampire yourself ... Or maybe even you make some secret ritual and became a Lich ? ... What do you think ?
  12. Even some species of animals died out becouse of hunting so i think that common hunter don't giva **** about eko-balace he thinks mostly about gold .... Secondy some hunters TODAY may have more global point of view so they don't kill as many as before ... but in middleage ? In some time almost all population of wolf died out in france ... in poland an spiecies of wild bull almost died out (today their rabulding it) ... So what type of protecters where hunters ? Your right but only if they have "hunting skil" ... In D&D games the "Barberian" is mostly inspired by "BERSERK" .. not "Hunter" ... And lastly Project eternity is inspired by D&D and D&D is inspired by lord of the rings. BUT does not meant that ranger must be 100% like Aragorn or Drizt ... serously im starting to feel like you guys thing that PE whoud be somekind og Baldours Gate 3 or Icewind Dale 3 continuatuon .... By the way i did not remember "Orlan" in middleearth ... strage ...

In general they don't need to may much animations .... maybe 10 or 30 for characters ... and mayby 10 for houses ... they just don't want to brak a immersion of typical dugeoncrawler game becouse if they add hourses ... you will get more interested in fighing on open grounds not in dungeon ...   15. In D&D games tranlated to polish the ranger class is translated "Łowca" witch literaly mean "Hunter" in english. The strict tranlation of ranger in polish is "Commando" (yeah like with ak47) ... but in not stict but definicional (the meaning of the word not word itself) is forest keeper or woodsman ... So any real translation ranger from polish sounds rally dump ... and i hope they stay with hunter ...

  17. The funny thing. In polish translation "Ranger" class of D&D games (NWN, BG, Icewind dale) was literaly translated to hunter not ranger. Mayby it's just cultural difrences that people in USA or other parts of English speaking countiers prefer "Ranger" over "hunter" but in Poland prefer "hunter" over "ranger". In our translation "Ranger" class also means "Guardian" or "protector" witch in my opinion don't suit the sets of abilitys ... By the way the whole argumentation about "Tolkien named Aragorn ranger so i't perfect" it's simply dump ...Becouse if i remember Aragorn don't used two-swords or bow when fighting ... not mentioning this games in not "lord of the rings" universe game so argumentation is the same like "in Bleach they have shinigami so the ranger class must be called shinigami" haha By the way the thread is closed becose i will propably play polish translation ... so i propably will have my hunter
  18. You see guys the other option is to simply adding specialization like in Icewind Dale. For example you take ranger and you have two specjalizations "hunter" or "ranger" ... (first more hunting like second more other like) Lephys the socond thing is that i whoud like to play some hunter, that kills animals for money (oposition to typical ranger) likes to drink or youse drugs and don't giva **** about forest ... (he is much more consern about human world) ... And in role-playing way ... a class named as "ranger" simply doesnt fitt ... Fighter whoud be good idea but only if ranger and fighter whoud have the same hunting capabilitis ... (witch whoud propably not have) In D&D rangers was simply "more fighing" Drugids ... even if they where evil they where killing humans but in some way care about woods ... and when i was playing NWN ... there was even a dialog line "Im the servant of nature" ... Bull**** .... i want to play a guy that hunts for money and don't give **** about nature ... he whoud more like to say "Nature is my servant" ... rjshae So you see typical Ranger was opposite to typical hunter ... even today rangers fight hunters that kill to much animals is sake od eko-balanace ... In original D&D evil ranger was more like eko-terrorist .. who kill people for "Hunting" rabbits or choping forest ... i want to play oposite ... Sandro G Meier Typical ranger also don't hunt.   19. Thanks for you message. You se my only issu is that ... I we assume that typical ranger is "forest protector" and typical hunter is "hunter of something". Then can ranger be hunter or forest protector ? Or Hunter can be hunter or porest protector ?
  20. Not so big issu but what do you think about renameing this class ? Im for it becouse when i hear "Ranger" the first thing that somes to my mind is coockies or helping turist in mountains ... monster killer, troll hunter more like insted of thypical D&D "forest potector" sound more cooler and propably will be more interesting ... Expecionaly if Hunter can don't give **** about animals or forest ( not like druids ) ... That can be interesting character ...
  21. In my opinion the most important part of role playing game is role playing. So the most inportant is consistant, addictive and interesting written part of the story. By saying "written" part i mean main story, story world, dialogs, athmosphere, and even some sort of psychical character development. In general i sometimes even thing that hole idea of "level ups, and combat" is not so important. But the less important is gaphics and music (but must be at least on level when you don't get piss of by it). In my opinion if we have a good RPG about gangsters the most important is "addictive and interesting written part of the story", the same about space-opera rpgs (KOTOR, mass effect) the same for fantasy rpgs (Witcher) and the same about any other even jrpg ... If game has good storyline it can be even about alchemist, warrior, detectiv, alien or any other .... and the most commonly mistake about RPGs in my opinion is plot related decisions and milti-endings .... why ? Becouse in my opinion 1 well made enging is better then 14 ****ty ones .... Mass Effect, Dragon age and even Fable series have big problem with that.... many endings, moslty only difrent in this that some not-relevant barceep lives or not ... I personaly love Final Fantasy 7 for that.... for some this has very sad ending, for some hevy good and for most grey .... When i watch movie i want to see good story and athmosphere .... the same for games ... and i simply don't understand somethines when in general for some games main plot is only excuse for multi-fights .... fights shoud be one of most important things .. but personaly ... in i play a goood game when we fight only 1 or 2 times ... but have awsome storyline i whoud not complain .... Have anyone of you guys seen Death Note ? God story line (expecionaly L part of the story) and not so many fight ... psychological action ... the same as "Monster" anime ....(but in monster we have more fights) ... Not some naruto or Dragon ball Z bull**** .... Have any one seen Godfather or Heat with pacino ? (more western example) Good story, perfect acting and most important ATHMOSOPHE ! Not some Stallone or Shwarzenegger bu**** ... Do you imagine ... a scene in godfather if Stallone played the role of Don Corleone or Shwarzenegger playing as Mikel ? I personaly probably whoud not understand a **** from that movie .. haha
