  1. You can tell which, that still leaves lots of room for the imagination.
  2. I have no problem with an option to randomly assign the points you are allocated on character creation, in addition to assigning them manually.
  3. . Being intelligent doesn't equal being intellectual, and vice versa.
  4. A high INT, PER, DEX aoe interrupting barbarian tank , or at least crowd controller. Edit: I'll try it even without +deflection on INT.
  5. Haha, I seriously don't know how to take those videos funny, silly, satirical, overly dramatic, people taking things a "little" to serious, or downright ridiculous. Or just some people really don't have anything more important to worry about? Anyway I was entertained.
  6. I've been reading the BB forums since it's release and I was surprised to find that for some people the essence of the IE games and what is need for PoE to be a spiritual successor are some simple formulae for calculating damage, health or whatnot. At first I found that really odd, to some extent I still do, but I come to somewhat understand the issue. For people that started with DnD or other PnP they are more important and familiar due to the way those are played, but to someone like me that has never played PnP they are things of little importance that go on in the background. To me the essence is the way we interact with the NPCs and the game world, and those from what I've seen are on the right track.
  7. They'll be drawing portraits for the expansion that'll be also used in the base game.
  8. So it's sexual harrassment now asking men if they will wear a bra or not? Qistina my advice is don't have this type of debate with Volo, he is completely illogical around some of his views You will just get frustrated with him unless you understand the way he sees the world This discussion is one of the few times I've seen Volourn making sense.
  9. You make the Main PC at character generation, and at a point in the game you can "hire" (and create) other companions in certain locations. These hired characters are built by you, and replace the companion NPCs. However, they aren't with you from the beginning like the IWD games. So, yes and no? Thanks for infromation... But still how much does it changes from "icewind Dale" type of chars ? They still will not have any "relations" in the game world, even if i create a char and give him "farmer" backgroud no farmer in the world will come to him and say "Hay fellow farmer, you are advenchurer now i see", Even if i create a team of "Flirty" girls this doesnt mean that i will have 5 romances and the same time xD They still will be like "chargen" puppets from ice wind dale, never will they interact with the world or my main char like "dev" created chars... and the time when they "join" the main party doesnt matter from this point ... or em i wrong ? XD It isn't like Icewind Dale because those are optional mercenary companions, for people that aren't satisfied with the class/race of the fully fleshed companions. There are eight true companions, but there are eleven classes, some people may want a class that isn't among them, or an extra member of another.
  10. I just love how these "[brand name] lore in [small number] minutes" videos are completely unintelligible to anyone whose first language is not english I think they are not difficult to understand to anyone who has practical experience with English, hasn't just learned it in school/course. On another note how did they get that the witchers are warrior-monks .
  11. You can always turn off all V-Sync with the AMD Catalyst Control Center or Nvidia Control Panel(I think this one can also turn it off per application) in the meantime, but I guess you already knew that.
  12. With all this time wrangling I noticed that the forum clock is 5 minutes early, or is it just something on mine side?
  13. Never liked the art style of the BG portraits, most of them look creepy and annoying, like they had one plastic surgery to many.
  14. If you are talking about that picture, I'm pretty sure its Russian.
  15. Looking at it I have to wonder whats the catch with wearing that fur-leather shirt that covers only the upper half of the torso.
  16. Yes. We have previously given details about our skill system, including how Stealth works. As a recap, all characters can invest in the Stealth skill, though certain classes (like rogues) have a head start in that department. You can have characters sneak individually or as a group and the gameplay consists of navigating the Stealth-based radii of your party members around the detection radii of potential enemies. Enemies have two stages to discovering a sneaking character. The first causes them to investigate. Once they get close enough (IF they get close enough), they will fully realize the threat and typically start combat (sometimes dialogue). In both of our class pair updates (rogues + rangers, wizards + druids), we've called out what non-combat skills each class emphasizes, but yes, the skills are largely class-neutral. Dialogue options are also largely class-neutral. Most threshold-based options are opened up based on the character's attributes -- using Perception to notice something, Resolve to threaten someone with scary intensity, Strength to intimidate someone with brute force (or just to smack them around a little), Dexterity to swipe something, etc. Picking these options is not always a path to success, but the attributes are what open them up. The same applies to class-, race-, sex-, or background-based options that pop up. We decided to avoid dialogue skills since it pushes characters to invest in "the dialogue game" or miss out on a ton of enjoyable content. By using as many basic elements of the character as we can to shape dialogue, we keep dialogue open to all sorts of characters, from meat-head fighters to sassy wizards and everything in-between. Attribute-based checks worked well in Planescape: Torment and we think it will work well in PoE as well. How about pocket picking? I can't imagine a paladin or priest who picks pockets. You just haven't met the right priests.
  17. Really liked the main menu and the character creation. Only thing that somewhat bothered me is the dialogue UI, it seemed a little out of place, also on the matter of dialogue will those reaction explanations ([Honest - Minor], [Diplomatic - Minor]) be present in the finished product? Another thing that I noticed is that the character Resolve had +1 Aedyr, but culture doesn't change attributes, also it was before the culture was chosen , it should have probably read +1 Meadow/Thyrtan.
  18. You may want to recheck the declarations of war.
  19. Oddly suspicious with Paradox on board. On canting, another interesting example is the coat of arms of Oxford, literally an ox on a ford.
  20. How would you guys feel about some apocalyptic/anarchistic cult/sect/heresy lead by Godlikes.
