Gfted1 replied to jmanreis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)

Death and Resting
Gfted1 replied to jmanreis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
That healing / resurrection mechanic sounds terribad to me. Nothing like having to lug 2-3 dead party members (and all their gear) back to a temple after a few fights just because were tryin to keep it realz, yo. Just think about how many times you or a party member died in the BG series and how "fun" it would have been to be unable to heal / ressurect in the field. -

I do not think it has been sent out yet. I havent received it either. -
I'd just copy the save and place it in a different folder for retrieval. You dirty dirty save scummer. Dont you realize that how you choose to play your single player game is affecting everyone else? They are specifically designing the game mechanics to thwart such things as saving when you want, resting when you want and healing when you want. All because people like you dare to play the game like you want. For shame.

I cant get drunk during the weekdays, I get up too early for work. That and it seems like hangovers last longer the older I get. What I used to be able to shake off in a half a day can now haunt me for an entire weekend. >_

Hmm, maybe its only a US thing? By the power of Google I summon the definition as provided by an auto parts store website: What is a Core Charge? A “Core Charge” is similar to the deposit you might pay for a can or bottle of soda. In many states, to promote recycling, you are charged a deposit when you purchase a can of soda and you receive your deposit back when you return the empty can. Many automotive parts have a Core Charge, or Core Price, that works the same way as a soda can deposit. Here’s how the Core Charge works: The part you are purchasing contains a component that is recyclable The Core Charge deposit is charged at the time of purchase When the recyclable component from your old part is returned to us, the charge is refunded to you To receive your Core Charge refund, you can do either of the following: Bring the part to any Advance Auto Parts store along with your receipt or packing slip Mail the part back to Advance Auto Parts following the directions including on your packing slip. Lots of items offer a core charge return (batteries, alternators, starters, etc...).

Having just changed my own car battery I can advise you to remove your old one before you go to the store and bring it with you. The auto parts store will give you back the "core charge" for the battery (~$12) and it saves you having to make another trip.

Forton is a Joke!
Gfted1 replied to Hellfell's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Trolling? Your words cut me good sir. Everything I have said is the same reasoned and well thought out arguments that my follwow posters posit when discussing these important matters. They rallied and whined to the high heavens regarding the human female and I expect no less for my dwarvish and godtouched brethren. To do less makes you a filthy speciesist. -

I just hope we can buy the poor bastard a shirt. It gets cold while spelunking 15 level mega dungeons and imagine how bad it must hurt to take an arrow to the nipple! -

What can I say, I'm biased and only care about the health of women's sternums. "Hey baby...I want you to have...a healthy sternum" *slap* Okay maybe that isn't working out so well. This type of attitude breaks my immersion and verisimilitude. Everyone cares about the human woman but not a peep out of anyone when we have godlike races with exposed man glands and dwarves wearing fur miniskirts. Sickening, and I for one wont stand for it. Im going streaking through the quad and into the gymnasium, WHOSE WITH ME!? -

Im offended by his bare breasts. He was left shirtless in an obvious attempt at tittilating female players, and dont even get me started on how being shirtless like that will direct all blows to his sternum. I cant believe you guys are alright with him getting a busted sternum. -
I was an Aviation Electrician in the Navy for 7.5 years. Served as ships company aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). Did my shore duty in a P-3 squadron (VP-30).

Romances should only be available in Ironman mode. Along with save scumming, rest scumming and healing scumming I need there to be an artificial mechanic specifically designed to prevent me from doing these things or it will invariably result is some other persons single player game being ruined. Damn me.

Thanks, thats real nice of you. I appreciate the thought.

Yeah, I recently switched out the brake pads on the new Mustang for the first time. I slapped on Bendix ceramic brakes. They were quite reasonably priced and they've got a good reputation for brake pads. The rotors were in good shape. Anyhow, I noticed the warranty on them, and I have to say that it sounded too good to be true. It's nice to hear someone with experience vouching for it. I have to fill out the forms and mail them out tomorrow. If you bought them from a chain auto parts store (AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc...) than you can get the refund right there. You may have noticed they asked for your phone number when you bought them and what they are doing with that information is adding those parts to your personal database. You then bring in the old worn pads / rotors (the ones you just changed out), they look at them and nod, then instantly credit you back. Thats usually a sign of a warped rotor (the surface of the rotor is no longer flat but wavy). If you start to notice the vibration ~60MPH, thats probably an imbalace situation. Go look and see if one of the balancing weights on one of your tires is missing. Ive never tried a good scotch. Years ago in my youth we got wasted on Cutty Sark and it kinda turned me off to scotch for life, but Im willing to get back on that horse.

Luckily I do my own brakes and Ive stumbled across FREE BRAKES FOR LIFE. See, when you go to an auto parts store and buy brake pads and rotors you actually get a lifetime warranty on them. Dont ask me how they can give a lifetime warranty on something specifically designed to degrade, but they do. So what happens is that you wind up paying for the first set of everything but every time after that you can simply bring your worn pads and rotors back to the store and they will refund the money you just paid for the replacement set. Its literally free brake pads and rotors for life, you just have to do the labor yourself.

Some "Wild Man's Retreat". Wilderness. Hunting, Camping. Beer. The stag do you do when there are to be no strippers. Thats an excellent list then.

You guys going camping or something?

I sure hope mine does, shes a good girl.

Why do you feel that is a worthy goal? It just seem like hubris to me. Of all the life forms on Earth, only this current version of humanity is worthy of immortality? To me, thats just a coping mechanism people use to mind trick themselves into feeling they arent mundane, arent alone, arent going to simply die and be forgotten by history, but will in fact live on for all of time. With that basis in mind, religon can then backfill in a bunch of stuff to influence peoples behavior.
-
No, because previous tests had eluded to the fact that it should exist. Big difference between blind faith and reasoned faith. IMO, faith is something we created because we cant accept that when we die its over. We feel were so special that it cant possibly just "be over" when our physical lives end, that our souls must live for eternity. That were such special lifeforms that we MUST transcend this mortal coil and become eternal beings. Because were so special.

Congrats on the promotion.
