Josh Sawyer on Miss and Hit
Gfted1 replied to Hormalakh's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Now you cant miss? Undoubtedly being implemented to stomp out degenerative missing. It gets worse every day. -
It would have been better with no way to heal or resurrect....oh wait.

private backer forum's?
Gfted1 replied to AcedBlade's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Isnt a private backers forum exactly what BSN is? You cant comment unless you have bought the game? Never did like that mentality. -
I too am back to work today after being off since 22 Dec. Im already exhausted. At least my inbox didnt get hammered too badly while I was gone.

The Avengers. Pretty awesome.

They probably figured they were doing you a favor by not showing up too early.

I dig Ikea. Ours even has a special escalator that grabs your shopping cart and carries it up/down for you. Then at the and of the store there is a little restraunt where you can buy meatballs. Got all my wrapping done last night too, w00t.

Ive only ever watched that once. Dont see the cult appeal.

Cograts! and bummer!

Exactly my point. Which means the addition of a, imo, pointless "deep stash" is there only to limit players from accessing 100% of the stuff they have picked up. Why? Please dont say beacause of "degenerative inventory". Punative. *fingers crossed*

I'm curious about what makes you think so. You have to think about how to build your characters, yes. You have to think about what your fighters should be doing. You can't rely on longswords to carry you through the entire game. Nothing of that really flies in the face of IE games, it's simply adding depth that was sorely needed. I do hope some other areas get a complete overhaul as well (I'm looking at you "Hide in Shadows/ Move Silently"; "Pickpocket"; mage buffs; pre-combat buff insanity; rest spamming). I'm expecting some minor ****storms when more info is leaked that makes people realize it's not just a graphical overhaul of any IE game. Heh, I know I sound negative but the list of things Im not worried about far outweighs what worries me. Im not worried about the story, Im sure it will be good. The graphics are perfect, isometric is my favorite. The NPC's will probably be a major strenght and Im sure the background "how the world of PE works", what souls do and how they power stuff, all will be logical and well thought out. What Im worried about is the meat-n-potatoes stuff. The things Im going to be doing a hundred times just in the normal maintenance of my party throughout the game. From what I understand, it seems like there is a concerted effort to apply punative restrictions to these core mechanics. Healing (or lack thereof), saving (savepoints?), camping (having to to camp), inventory ("deep stash" you can only access while camping), cooldowns...and thats just whats been revealed so far. I just hope the game isnt scientifically designed to beat me up every time I need to do something.

I say enjoy it while you can. There will come a time when you will be in the 40-hour-per-week meatgrinder and you will look back fondly on these current times.
-
So do the myriad of other mechanics changes but we gots degenerate playing to stomp out.

Dubai is awesome. We used it as a port of call during the first Gulf War back in the early 90's. Although it is ridiculously hot. The kind of hot thats so hot it makes you squint. And the cab drivers stink a bit.

Last day of work for the year, woohoo. Already know I got a mid-four digit bonus. They are taking us to Benihana for lunch then we will probably be able to go home.

IMO, you should just cut them loose. Everyone has already dug in and unless you wife "changes", which is a completely unreasonable position to take, nothing is going to improve. Also their sanctimonious attitude is really irritating. Dont involve the kids.

Beasts of Burden and "Stash" Inventory
Gfted1 replied to Hormalakh's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Another day, another contrived mechanic. This time to prevent players from "degeneratively" carrying loot. Because weight limits are hard. Aye carumba. On the bright side, since Ill be humping back to every half dozen battles to heal anyway I guess I wont be too affected. -
Nice looking work. Out of curiosity, do you have a picture of the inside?

I have to admit, I was really shocked by Raithe stating that even pocket knives are illegal in England. Thats a case of the pendulum swinging too far the other way, imo.

So I havent played WoW in months, probably since around D3 came out (I still pay for it due to signing up for 1 year). I hadnt even purchased the MoP expansion until my wife got it for me 2 days ago because I just couldnt be bothered. I installed it yesterday but only logged in long enough to briefly peruse the new stuff. I couldnt even remember how to control my toon because now my muscle memory is tuned for D3 (WASD vs mouse click). I cant figure out why I cant overcome this inertia. Maybe its the end of an era after playing for 7-8 years? Meh.
