  1. Im worried about the cumulative effects of all these mechanics. We already know that two things absolutely require you to go somewhere to rest, health damage and disabilities. Those can only be fixed by power napping. Now toss persistant diseases into the mix and keeping everyone upright and healthy becomes even more of a chore. Imagine you have made it to level 2.5 of the Endless Paths. Your tank has been knocked out twice so he has a gimp in one leg and cant see so good out of one of his eye. The mage is limping along at full Stamina but only 4 Health. Uh-oh, that mummy claw attack just gave you mummy rot! You will lose 1 Stamina and .5 Health per round until "rested". As you slowly shuffle back to the rest spot you go unconscious three more times from the mummy rot damage. I dunno, sounds painful to me. As an aside, since they are determined to shoehorn in a "no healing" mechanic, I hope one rest will cure all stacked damage, disabilities and (possibly) diseases. Like if I have 5 disabilities I dont want to have to rest 5 times to unstack them all.
  2. Being there is no healing or curative technology in the PE universe I prefer not having something else force me back to a rest spot. If it must be in then I choose option one above, that it only lasts the duration of combat. Between no in the field heath recovery, getting a disability every time you get knocked out and possibly persistant diseases, I think that would be too much.
  3. The highest level items being the purple?
  4. No, because each eye feeds into an independant brain.
  5. You didnt stay at a all inclusive resort? Ouch.
  6. Why do people keep pretending that Stamina and Health exist in a vacuum? We will take damage to both pools simultaneously at some predefined ratio. You can be at full Stamina and die to the next arrow to the knee. To recover health we will be forced to travel back to some "rest spot" no matter what.
  7. He cracks me up when hes on Saturday Night Live.
  8. All of that stuff dropped off one boss?
  9. I dont have a problem witht the proposed system mainly because I dont think it will affect me much (I will be a remorseless camping machine). I do have to admit however that I was pretty surprised by the reasoning for the mechanic change. I erroneously thought that looting every single object on the continent and thus breaking the "economy" was the degenerative gameplay, not the walking back and forth to do it. I honestly dont care how someone else plays their game and I even respect that if a player wants to do all that work of walking back and forth than they deserve to reap the monetary rewards. Whats peoples thoughts on a weighless but slot based inventory system ala Diablo 3? It removes weight problems while still keeping the "haul" resonable.
  10. Glad to see you back around Wals.
  11. Why only Hoover when you can have the whole gang? Hoover, John D. Rockefeller, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Warren Buffet, and King Solomon. "Hoover" as in the vacuum cleaner. Im going to suck up every last trinket for resale.
  12. I like this one. I think the last time I saw a giant in game was that fire giant battle in BG2 TOB.
  13. I sure hope stuff stacks. I would much rather look at: Longsword x 15 than 15 individual longsword icons. The cool part of all this is I will be able to afford the best merchant stuff in no time. With no restictions Im going to become the opposite of JFSOCC above. Im going to pick up every rock, stick and bauble until Im ridiculously wealthy. Maybe Ill name my toon "Hoover".
  14. Traveling back and forth when bags are full = degenerative. Traveling back and forth when health bar empty = not degenerative. Whatever. Guess we will have to disagree.
  15. You have no idea how much health will be recovered by resting or how long it will take. 10 points per 24 hours? 48? Who knows. Youre simply replacing one reward (loot) for another (health) and then claiming its different.
  16. Semantics. Youre just replacing "loot" with "resting". I could easily say "if all my health cant be regenerated in the field its going to lure me back to a rest spot anyway, I might as well be able to heal anywhere".
  17. In that case, hopefully Sawyer will prevent me from degeratively having to schlep for 47 minutes back and forth to rest. Im easy to please, throw me a portal stone or pocket dimension.
  18. Even better, you get one of those strapped to you and each of your party members backs! Maybe Ill kill everything that moves for their loot just to see what the gold total will be at the end. I hope similar items stack or thats going to get messy quickly.
  19. Dammit! I had my cursor hovering over the "add to cart" button until I saw this: OS: Windows® XP, Windows Vista™ I only have Win 7.
  20. Yeah, sounds good to me too. If I and my party members can each carry a (nearly) infinite amount of crap, I dont really care about having to travel to a rest spot to get something out of it. Ill be doing enough of that to rest anyway so it will be a total non-factor to me.
  21. I see. Well if its infinite (or huge) I guess thats a help. So assuming thats true, combined with this post from Sawyer: the degenerative gameplay that is being removed is not looting everything thats not bolted down, its removing the act of walking back and forth several times?
  22. I dont follow. How is that any different from the preexisting inventory mechanics? Is the "deep stash" infinite? Inventory already had a finite limit either by weight restrictions or slot restrictions. So if a player wants to pick up every single item to sell it they they will run into the same wall and have to travel back and forth every time their inventory fills up, whether that be a "deep stash" or normal method. It will all be there when you go to the shop. Youre probably closer to the truth in your second paragraph that its a form of "strategic resourse management" ( ) but again, the old method did the same thing, you could only carry so much before hitting some limitation. To me, "deep stash" just sounds like another silly method of negative reinforcement that forces the player to only have direct access to amount of slots because thats somehow "tactical" and nobody will travel back to a rest spot to get that item they need out of their pack, right?
