What would PE look like if Obsidian catered to the worst of us?
I don't have a good answer for that. I just chalk it up to a very narrow focus of what they would like the game to play like. I sometimes wonder what crapstorm will erupt when the other 73,500 backers that never registered / post here first load up their games expecting an IE experience. Oh well, time will tell.

That's actually a good idea. Or, you know, they could make a choice of whats important and whats not. Whats that word you guys like to throw around? Oh yeah, TACTICS. Now to counter the inevitable "hoover" effect of people picking up everything they had to devalue it to almost worthless. Tell me what was gained here. Sure you can pick up every object on the continent but it isn't worth anything so whats the point? And then you lost me. No doubt your scathing wit has flown over my head.

Cry all you like but everything I said is true. Every single one of those mechanics were added with the sole intention of preventing some other action. No healing / res: To prevent healing between battles. Unlimited inventory: To prevent people walking back and forth to pick stuff up. What? No kill xp: To prevent "grinding" in a game that doesn't have respawning mooks. Rest spots: A disincentive to resting. Cool downs: So you cant use your nukes and then rest.

If the attack does not overcome the DT then no damage would be taken at all, right? @PJ and KP: You guys remind me of this clip; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNkp4QF3we8 You so desperately need attention that you reply in threads just to complain about other replies.

It means you could degeneratively game the system by sneaking your top sneaker by the magical line and nobody else. Sure, could be anything for all we know. That's not how I understand it. I though it was: All successful attacks against the characters will do simultaneous damage to both Stamina and Health 100% of the time. The damage is then split into some unknown ratio like 3:1 so no matter what, Health always takes damage.

Healing is not available for any level of injury, except resting, which fixes everything including maiming.

I think the problem with that method is that its all or nothing. If you aren't awarded any xp until you complete the quest/objective then you could find yourself under leveled. Quest xp should be doled out as you hit milestones, imo. No idea, Im not a programmer. If ease of coding was the objective then that's sad. I wonder how it will work. Surely (yeah, I called you Shirley ) not all six members are going to be able to sneak by everything. So will this mythical player only play solo? What happens if you sneak 2 guys past but the third fails? OMG, xp was given away for free! Release the hounds! Im pretty sure one of the difficulty levels lets characters permanently die.

Or whatever magical line your party just snuck past that awarded experience could also flag the mook as unkillable / no xp. Your example is what I call getting lost in the minutia (not you the poster). They are so worried about improbable one-offs (sneaking past then going back to kill, who the hell does that? I know, I know, EVERYONE will claim they do just that) that the whole system suffers for it, imo.

That is correct.

Having kill experience in the game prevents other manner of rewarding experience? Why? It was removed to prevent people from grinding, in a game with no respawning enemies. Yeah. Unlimited inventory was added because it was deemed "degenerative gameplay" for players to walk back and forth to collect loot. This added the side effect of loot having almost no value or the economy would have been broken by chapter one.

You have to understand, self control and allowing players to play their game the way they wish got thrown out with the baby and the bath water. Hence we wind up with gems like no healing or resurrection (unless you nap), cool downs, unlimited inventory, no kill xp, and having to trek to specific locations to rest (see napping). Most of the games mechanics were only created to prevent this or that action.
