  1. No, there should be real consequences for doing bad film. You could have a three-strikes-and-yer-out for director/producers/whoevers responsible
  2. Who reads manuals anyway? ..maybe they should start putting candy or toys inside, I think that would really push up the buying motivation.
  3. I kind of liked... hey wait a minute, Im popping my own baloon here. But I can say that Bloodlines did it lightyears better than Deus:Ex ..I guess twitch combat could work, but never ever JKA type combat, that would be undignified, ludicrous and overflamboyant.
  4. Yeah, you know I think the fact that I havent actually shot anybody in the head, would make very much a counterargument. " ..sort of
  5. Twitch-gaming belongs in action games, period. I mean its not like you have to go fisticuffs with your GM when encountering enemies in a PnP game? RPGs are about brains, not reflexes. ..hey! I got an idea, why not replace the D20 with a dartboard in your next PnP game?
  6. I got my hands on some SW comics(the Thrawn stuff and Exar Kun thingie) instead, they're atleast bearable but maintain a steady low-quality. Whats with these people, why are they incapable of telling a tight and interesting story with believable characters?! As I read the Exar Kun ones I clearly understood why KoTOR disregards or alters most of it- its plain crap that has nothing or very little to do with the original SW concept... Sith Witchcraft? Lobbing solar cores at people? Why cant they be satisfied with the rich potential of plain old force lightning and lightsabers duels? the EU can bite my ***
  7. Then order one, Im shure you'll be able to get it cheaper than 100$ Oerwinde> I can see he's been using the sweet sweet color dynamics function.. in Painter you just have opacity variables and that sucks. CDs allows you to pick a color and have every single tone of it from black to shining bright, just by pen pressure
  8. Sort of reminds me of a couple of years ago when we discovered CS and when we went out after an all-nighter. I felt an abstract urge to shoot everyone I saw in the head with the click of my index finger :D
  9. Thought Id be good for us artist types if we made some sort of a listing here, especially for myself because I havent been bale to find anything good for free yet
  10. Ive just got a simple Graphire tablet thats less than 100$ Its only A6 and it isnt tilt-sensitive but you can do lots with it. The best thing I think is that I can practice as much as I want to without paying big bucks for artist materials. If I could only get painter to do what I wanted, I might have to resort to switching between PS and Painter to get somewhere. I havent really made anything worth showing except maybe this that I did first IRL then added the skin in PS
  11. Aww, shucks.... he said that? That just breaks my heart.. I thought we were friends Conan!! *cries* Well, I guess there'll be no international TV prize for you Mr O'brien! You can kiss your fine crystal Kostaboda vaze goodbye! This Conan must die. Give the job to Von Sydow
  12. 213374U> you agree with me that we in the west have ruined much for third world countries by colonization and exploitation. But I dont think its fair to say that these countries are to fully blame for their current state given the extent of just how much damage the west has done for so long a time and are still doing in some cases. If we work with examples, if the west(for economic reasons) would not have intervened in the democratisation of the middle east 50 years ago(specifically the Shah coup in Iran and the rise of the Baath party in Iraq), these countries may have been regular peaceful democratic countries. The examples are endless and the conclusion cannot be another than that our past and sometimes present goverments bear the ultimate responsability for the conditions of life in less fortunate countries. Laozi> I think we left the issue of the powerplant a long time ago(atleast I did) but you are right that China is in violation of human rights, something that should not be tolerated. But by denying them this or other technological improvements we are playing into the hands of the regime because an undeveloped people is far easier to supress. If they get electricity, then maybe they can get a Tv and a satellite dish in every rural village, and then they will se that there are other ways of life than to live in a totalitarian state and that may just be the start of democracy. On the other hand, it might not be. Its just an idea that might work.
  13. This is what happens when you allow a gamestopper to go through QA. Its a shame that Troika never got to fulfill their potential but ultimately, they have themselves to blame.
  14. Could it be that you're suffering from some kind of obsessive-compulsive disorder?
  15. Well, Im aware that Im somewhat weird and overinvolved with the game. For an example I cant help but feel claustrophobic when dungeon crawling :D
  16. You're right of course. The core of what I was trying to say was I cant quite explain better than that. I dont enjoy PsT the same way I enjoy walking around doing off-mainstory things in other games. It feels misplaced in the gritty atmosphere of suffering and misery.
  17. I just looked it up on the internet and its appears to have been a swedish translation of MERP but it was heavily abridged, the site I read says ..the original rules were heavily abridged without oversight, resulting in a more or less unplayable game
  18. Ive got an old Swedish Lord of the Rings RPG from the 80's, I looked in the books off and on for years but I never found out how the rules worked. None of the books explained it, it was as if the devs assumed everyone knew what to do with a 100-page booklet containing nothing but weird tables
  19. I tried to listen in on the Thrawn crap but its so bad it makes the Aliens novel I bought out of boredom seem like great litterature.
  20. Im now in Curst and I know I have missed lots of quests and things I could have gone through because I feel they're dont belong in PsT and often just seem to be a waste of time. In a game like Baldurs Gate, quests belong and are a part of the game. but in the bleak world of the Planes, theres just no joy in running around engaging in the petty affairs of the people there. The Nameless One isnt about glory&adventure, he's a tormented poor sod doomed to suffer eternally unless he gets going.
  21. Ive heard of Prince of Qin but Ive never talked to anyone who has actually played it. Usually that isnt a sign of quality for a game as the good ones get round even without hype from magazines
  22. I would like to appologize for taking so long to answer, but I felt I needed to take the time to answer properly and Ive been busy as Im about to move again. Anyway even though Ive taken the time I dont considers these answer complete by far, I would have to write 10 or 15 pages to explain it properly. But anwyay But the notion of what I call "idealistic capitalism", the belief that capitalism is a system based on the principle of individual rights and proggression through competition, is in my opinion, an afterconstruction and does not exist in reality. The real world capitalism is "profit comes before all, and at all costs except that of a lowered profit" What hapens when a bussiness(small fish) becomes a corporation(a big fish) is that they no longer have to resign to being controlled by the common market becasue they have the power to control it. An example in our world of computer games is EA who has grown so large that it has bought exlusive rights to most major sports circuits, thereby establishing what in every way it a monopoly. They no longer have to concern themselves with the quality of their products because people have nowhere else to go. -by legal and fair means, they have bested competition not by supplying better products. This is real world capitalism. I would like to clarify that Im not defending communism in any way, except as perhaps a clevery concieved utopia if you mean marxist communism(that is just a theoretical way to achieve anarcho-syndicalism). I would say that it is very true, it is in fact what the capitalist buzzwords "global economy" and "free trade" is all about- the ability to freely utilize the benefits of buying products form or producing, in economicly underdeveloped countries where a dollar can buy infinity much more than in a western economy. And these countries are not poor and underdeveloped because some of them had communist goverments, but because they have never been given the chance to develop, because their resources are being sold out to rich countries at bottom prices. Countries with goverments that refused this draining were dealt with either with direct action like Guatemala, Chile, Iran or by crushing economic sanctions like with Cuba. At first people will see no other choice but to pay increased prices, since they must have these products, for as long as possible until the point that they simply cant afford it. Then there will be an economic collapse, after which the prices will drop again but probably not until after significant damage has been done to society. I would say that the richest nations, the capitalist nations, are rich because we control the distribution of resources, and we have taken from the less-developed countries in order to further ourselves and not because capitalism is such a great system. Its great for us at the top, shure, but detrimental for the major part of earhs population. In sweden, as in all western countries, you would never be able to live on the kind of salary that is paid to workers in southeast Asia. Could you live working 10 or 12 hours per day on 2dollars? There is just no way we can compete in that department. If following bussiness logic, every company that can, should move their production to where the labour is cheapest in order to maximise profit. This is logic but not ethical or humane and enforced ethics is what is needed to regulate this kind of tactic that is a great threat to western society. Well, again. People here cant exist on southeast asian wages, that renders us unable to compete with their labour market. But the main fault in this example was not that the wages were too high, it was that the company tried and failed to maximize profit by marketing an inferior product that was cheap to make. All according to the capitalist model of "produce at lowest possible cost and sell at highest possible cost in order to maximize profit". That model failed, capitalism failed becasue people werent fooled by the advertising and did not buy the inferior product. Then they tried to help it by outsourcing, that helped the company but ruined the society- victory for capitalism at the cost of society. Is that the kind of world we want to live in? And resources, they are limited. Its like with that "how many earths do we need if everyone would have your standard of living?" thing. If everyone in China started consuming in the rate that we do in the west, there woudlnt be enough to go around.
  23. I stumbled on the Thrawn trology as an audiobook, be great for traveling me thinks. A little less chewy than political science lectures.
  24. Although I cant know what goes on at LucasArts(who as publisher, decides these things) but Id say it is highly unlikely.
  25. I just read in the paper today that the good pastor is now attacking our poor king Gustaf. The royal court officials are horrifed and have dispatched an elite company of ninjahs to dispatch phelps. http://erik.tjernlund.net/slask/tmp/jordn
