  1. I think a middleground is whats lacking. On one side we've got the Vikings all "loot, pillage, sack, raze, plunder, rape, say nasty words around children and spam spam beutiful SPAAAAM!" and one the other we've got the Knights all "pent-up quasihomosexualism and we dont wash our naughty bits because god told us so" Its sad. The man is Jan Guillou, once a respected journalist turned conceited bestselling action-writer. His heroes are all complete Mary Sues with no weaknesses or personalities. Anyway he's made half of sweden think we had knights and sent people on crusades and whatnot, with his book series about Arn the Knights Templar.
  2. We all know old Alec is the most Jedi anyone can ever be. But I really like Ewan in a curiously borderline pseudo homosexual way. He's the kind of guy you'd just want to hang out with, talk about life over a mug of beer at the pub and things like that. I saw him in one of those celebrity wildlife shows on Discovery, he was in Alaska I think. He just seems to be a really great guy.
  3. I made a roleplaying game once that had a stat called that roughly translates as "impression" to specificly counter this ridiculous behavior.
  4. What's this odd relation to knights in Denmark? Been reading him?
  5. I just got hold of a bunch of them Republic comics set during the clone wars and they're by far the best SW comics Ive read. Excellent artwork, good stories and actual Star Wars feeling. Too bad they have to be so obsessed by that darn Quinlan "kewl numetal jedi with dreads" Voss. And if Nurbs ever comes back Ill tell the truth to his face- TotJ stinks. badly.
  6. What didn't work? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I interpreted your answer as what I was suggesting has been tried before and without success.
  7. I think it would bring the original idea of character building closer to what it was meant to be- creating a role, not defining a number of stats. Even though I think Ive played Darklands or something similar, this idea really came to be when we in our PnP group started thinking about what roleplaying really means. The rules are just supposed to be a tool, but they often come to rule the game itself. It ceases to be roleplaying and becomes strategy. To alot of people it matters more that they have succeeded in bending the rules to create a character whose uniqueness lies in being to cast Lvl 78 incontinence spells while also having access to eunuck stealth attack, rather than having an interesting concept and good backstory. This kind of system might stand a chance at turning RPGs back to roleplaying. But then again, powergaming is perhaps imbedded in human nature. Just look at the huge waste of potential that MMORPGs turned out to be. There people really have the chance to immerse themselves deeper than ever in the roleplaying experience, but what did the majority do? Engage in a pointless contest of who can grind the most exp or whore the exploits so they can be the baddest fish in the pond. oh, the humanity...
  8. "been there, done that, didnt work." ? Commercially, it probably isnt such a grand idea because it will put off the gigantic mass of tactical players powergamers. On the other hand it would put the focus entirely on the story and roleplaying which could be a huge opportunity to cash in on the casual the sims fans players.
  9. Would you like it if you removed the technical control rulesystem from the player entirely and instead had a very complex system that depended entirely on the actions of the player? I dont mean just "hack stuff and get stronger automaticly" but that the game would build the character after how you solved problems, talked to people -just about any action imaginable would influence how your characters was built?
  10. I have now read "Golden age of the Sith" and I declare it to be rubbish. Apart from the uninspired story, it also completely fails to make the Sith anything but a bunch of silly sods with a hideous fashion sense.
  11. One other evidence of the madness of George, one that actually tell of him knowing that he's mad. Direct quote: Ill just say it like Dr. Phil "If the only common denominator in a series of failiures is you.. well, go figure."
  12. I dont understand that, I smoke or snus when I need to pull up. Nicotine to me is like coca-cola to a 4yearold, I get overenergized. I used to smoke cigars and once I was treated to this really nice cuban, a thick robusto, that means it burns off a whole lot more smoke than whats common so after 10min I had such a bad nicotine rush I thought I was going to get a stroke or something (no, of course I didnt inhale)
  13. I was just minding my own bussiness, enjoying K2 when suddenly my dad bursts in and declares that he has bought a domain and it is now my task to build a website for his company. If this had been 1997 I would have said "Shure, be done in a week!" but time has run away from my meager skills, far away too. I havent got a clue about anything beyond regular HTML I could make something prehistoric using wordpad but I have a feeling that wont be good enough so Im asking if anyones got any tips of freeware programs or stuff that I can use? Preferably something that uses alot of templates.
  14. MicroSatan's newest attempt to pwn teh intraweb.
  15. I wonder what kind of hellish blasphemy we will see in the future? When ole George becomes too old to desecrate the concept himself and sells it to the highest-bidding Hollywood whore?
  16. Ive got one of those Creative Zen's... it does the job at half the price of an ipod but its got some flaws -Cant read filenames or handle catalogs so any song lacking proper ID3 or WMA tags disapear or get sorted in the huge "unknown" folder... or it just does minor crap like screwing up track order, which can be really annoying if you're listening to audiobooks or similar -Needs special docking software to connect to PC, and not the most stable software out there either..
  17. Shhh! You`re spoiling the fun!
  18. Because it is called "Platina". As a proof for how wrong your vulgar term "aluuuminummm" is, ponder how odd it was if you were to say "Uranum, Tritum, Plutonum" ?
  19. Yes, but there are obvious differances between a small company an a major corporation whose actions have severe reprecussions on national economy. In the case of the latter, it is essential for the good of society to regulate and enforce ethical behaviour.
  20. I have not been able to find any english language articles about this but what has occured is that Finnish unions, supported by new labour laws is suing the Telecom giant Telia-Sonera for enacting mass layoffs despite a record profit of 1.5 billion Euro(almost 2 billion dollars). According to these new laws, a company cannot fire personnel unless there is substantial economic or production-related reasons behind the decision. Now lets just hope the rest of the world follows in Finlands footsteps and maybe this world could be made a better place for regular people to live in.
  21. I think it just boils down to: 1. With Lucas being controlled and toned down by producers etc. we got a series of films that changed the childhood and imagination of a whole generation. 2. With Lucas being able to do exactly what he wants, we get Jar-Jar, Hayden "Darth Whiny" Christensen, Puppy love, snoopy wardroids and just a ton of garbage. And its no accident either, Lucas has repeatedly said that "this is how I want it, go f*uck yourselves if you dont like it" He is a twit, period. Plus he's got no chin.
  22. What's so outragous about that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The haircuts. "
  23. Oh That John, he shure is one witty old boy :D ...and strangely enough I had some rather disturbing dream about being on a pleasure cruise with Margret Thatcher
  24. The manual says "..at a pivotal moment in the game.." but I experienced no such moment. I just happened to click Kreiah and she says something short about something happeing in the force and that its time. Is it suppose to be this way? Just before that I had killed a very unimportant dime-a-dozen critter and it suddently said I had aquired all three lightsaber parts? I hadnt even searched the remains! Is this normal? Attention: Please do not post anything even remotely spoiler-ish. that means no mentioning of key events, characters, places or anything of that nature...
  25. This is what I dont belive. If you take a look at early drafts of the original screenplays and other things, you end up with a bunch of really idiotic ideas by Lucas that were corrected by the talented people around him(screenwriters, directors, producers, artists, FXpeople etc.) On his own, Lucas is nothing but a sad hack. selection original Lucas ideas: (from imdb and various others) -George Lucas planned for the characters of Luke Skywalker and his aunt and uncle, to be midgets. -George Lucas had planned the character of Han Solo to be a huge green-skinned monster with no nose and gills. -Luke was originally a girl -Luke was first named "Luke Sarkiller" (after being changed into a man) ..it just goes on and on. Basicly, everything that made Star Wars good was done by other people.
