Troika released a game with a game stopping bug . This is a thing that should never, ever be allowed to happen. Its like selling cars who cant be refueled. ..oh, yeah. And the endings all suck.

Game Reviewers taking bribes to boost scores...
Kaftan Barlast replied to drcloak's topic in Computer and Console
I havent seen ONE damn game score under 8 on any of the gaming sites Ive visited so I realised their "opinions" werent exactly anything to go by. I read gaming mags back in the early 90s when the internet wasnt as developed as it is today. Nowadays I can see no reason for their continued existence. -
How may of you would say Bloodlines was the best PCRPG of 2004?

Good, evil.. its all just a matter of opinion, isnt it? You cant just go kill someone because you dont agree with their point of view, can you? -
So much for "no more mature topics in D&D"
Kaftan Barlast replied to deganawida's topic in Computer and Console
Yankee D&D.. never touched the ****e. fondly remembers the glorious swedish system of "Dragons and Demons" as it was called here. It really had nopthing in common with its english-language counterpart except that it used a D20 -
MUDs take such a damned long time to get familiar with. SOmetimes the regulars just swoops by and types you to death so fast you wont even know what happened. I tried a Star Trek MUD once(only once I have a life) and I almost became vulcan ambassador on.. whatever planet that was

yes. but AFTER being impaled on a statue.. it was still Jackies fault. -
Thankyou. Thankyou. I could add that I stopped using my real name since an internet search on it would reveal much debauchery that would undermine my credibility in a serious conversation.

custom titles are wonderful, I guess they kept them for moderators and their ilk. a poor decision. Now to my name. Ive been waiting ages for a thread like this to come along so I can show you how utterly clever and inventive I am about these sorts of things. basicly my name is utter and complete nonsense (that still manages to sound like it could be a name in the more remote and dark areas of the world) composed of the swedish words: Kaftan eng. "Caftan" 1. a (cotton or silk) cloak with full sleeves and sash reaching down to the ankles; worn by men in the Levant 2. a woman's dress style that imitates the caftan cloaks worn by men in the Near East Barlast eng. "Ballast" heavy material used to stabilize a ship or airship I am very fond of the absurd so therefore I chose this name as it is very silly indeed. Some may think that it comes from somewhere but it doesnt. Its very much a "Incontinentia Bottoms" sort of name. As for my Avatar: It is a scene* from Werner Herzogs 1979 version of "Nosferatu" Starring Klaus Kinski, Isabelle Adjani and Bruno Ganz. *where Isabelle Adjani sits reading some kind of book on vampires to find out how to kill Klaus Kinski all while Bruno is sitting in the background with a very dodgy pair of false teeth. This film is actually not very good at all and that is precisely why I own it on a very rare DVD with both the English and German versions(it was shot in both languages without dubbing). The main reason why its no good is because it completely lacks feeling or mystique. Its shot with an ordinary 35mm documentary camera using plain lighting and with crisp clean sound, effectively killing all "magic" that could have been possible. Its great, you should watch it. Its boring the first 3 or 4 times but then it becomes hillarious.

You obviously know alot more about what went on in BI. I was just making the bitter comment that he had good connections and without them he might not have even got the Q&A job. But Im basicly just bitter about being isolated and contactless in a country that has no CRPG making studios at all. We have Dice(battlefield 1942 etc,) but no more. -

They were crappily done and detrimetary to miss Hu's career since being filled with adamantium is a death that makes it difficult for her to be revived for Xmen 3 besides the obviously sexual metaphor. in the japanese S.E, all the male xmen run in, grabs a adamantium-hose each and take turns at soaking her entire body in "adamantium" -

Thankyou, it really warms me that some people know to appreciate comedic effort. But you know, if *I* were Wolverine and I come upon this increadible woman whose interests and abilities reflect my own to such an extent, killing her isnt the first thing line of action Id decide on. -I dig your claws. -..must kill.. -Hey, I know you're brainwashed and all but I mean, isnt that something we could overcome? -..must shred your torso. -If you'd have dinner with me I could arrange for you to join a really good deprogramming program, its run by a friend of mine. -...must rip out pancreas.. -You, know I dont really consider myself a fighter, but more of a lover. Just by seeing your..attributes I can tell that we're very much alike and if you would just stop for a minute and consider your options here.. -...must rupture your spleen.. etc. -
todays fine and completely unconstructive comment: I cant explain what an RPG is, but I know one when I see one.

Hmm, first he goes sort of "Its easy to get into the gaming industry I just went to work as a QA and worked my way up" then later "My best friend ***, who was lead programmer at Black Isle" connections, connections, connections... -
Future games you are seriously looking forward to.

Well more like Atari wouldnt be able to milk the cashcow with a completely new title... Baldurs Gate 3 = instant $$$$$ The Quest for the Holy Pantalon = underselling but loved by RPG enthusiasts -
Stop the senseless violence against female villain
Kaftan Barlast replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
I just dont understand why they always have to kill the female villain in such gruesome and imaginative ways? In that film with Jackie Chan and the black guy, he impales Zhang Zhiyi on a statue or similar. I always cheer on the villains(especially the female ones) and it just breaks poor little heart when they have to kill them all the time. Itd be alot more fun if the male hero runs away with the female badgirl instead of expediting her in the most extravagant way possible. And why do the girls always have to die extra hard? The bad guy is usually shot or falls of a building or something but the girls always gets it Death Supersize -
Yesterday I was watching Xmen 2 where Kelly Hu portraits the really sweet and likeable Yuriko Oyama aka Lady Deathstrike. The film progresses very nicely and offers some beautiful Alaskan nature scenery until the obviously women-hating and violent Logan aka Wolverine runs in to Yuriko. And what does he do? Does he bother to talk to her, find out more about what an intriguing personality she is? Does he ask about how it was like growing up in a patriarchic society where the only way to accomplishing a life for a strong woman is to become some dodgy mastervillains sidekick? Does he even stop to think that behind those razorsharp adamantium claws, theres a woman with thoughts and feelings of her own? -No, he chooses violence as his direct path of communication. He beats her, throws her into things, drowns her and even stabs her repeatedly. And when realising he cannot kill her with regular means he uses the very obvious sexual assault metaphor of penetrating her with a phallic object and filling her up with somekind of deadly metallic seemen and thereby killing her. First I was just really sad because the character I liked the most with died, but then I was just angry and apalled that this kind of blatantly misogynistic message is allowed in our day and age. And this isnt the first film where Ive seen this kind of behaviour either. (topic authors level of seriousness may vary, but still wishes hefty arguments will occur around matter)
