Now that you fools have managed to unveil my true indentity as ninjah, I must kill you all. *backflips ten meter unto a buildings, rips out an awesome electric guitar and starts wailing, whereupon an army of totally sweet ninjas just appear and flips out and just kills everyone and dont even think twice about it* -

We should have some sort of pennalistic initiation rite on this forum.

Just imagine if we were nations. I mean even if we didnt start the nuclear holocaust over the issue wether Bethesda should develop Fallout3, some troll would surely come along and do it just for fun.

I was flicking through the channels the other night and I caught a glimpse of a porn version of the old "planet of the apes" I still feel the urge to rinse my brain with cold water and a hard brush.

Dont leave things inside other people, its bad form.

I think we've milked this thread dry, we need something fresh to argue about. Something suitably abstract so noone can come in and ruin everything by pasting facts.

Um, forgive my asking but, where did you get your degree in psychology? Right now nobody knows that for sure because it's a rather new phenomenon. Sorry, but no amount of bold text is going to convince me of something that's wrong, or at the very least, unproven. I'm not as arrogant as you are, and I will not make such an absolute judgement about what the consequences of having ever increasingly violent and realistic games may be. But I'm still concerned. I have not once said that my opinions are fact, they are are assumptions based on what I have read, heard, watched and personally experienced. There is the possibility that I am wrong. But I really dont believe that playing violent games make people violent. Computer games are relatively new but the notion that there is something harmful in contemporary entertainment is a very old idea as I was trying to illustrate with the Beethoven example. Im sorry if I appear arrogant that is not my intention. I do think you misunderstand me very often as with this: I have never said anything about the effects of IRL violence on people and I have most certainly never said that I dont believe people get psychologicly hurt by that violence, of course they do. Violence hurts people in every way. In real life. Again, that must be something you learnt when you were studying to get your degree in psychology. I really love it when people make random assumptions like that. It really puts the scientific method to shame. Perhaps you should read the whole thread. I know that at the present state of realism it's difficult to be influenced by games unless there's a mental health problem involved. But once games become as real as you can imagine, I'm not so sure. After all, what's the difference between real violence and 100% realistic video game violence? Your mind isn't as rational as you would like to think. Sorry, but we're still animals. I did not make a random assumption, in fact, that idea was put forth by Margareta R

Ah, you have seen through my shameless anti-mmorpg propaganda.

Im beginning to think I have a problem with communicating because I write one thing and I get replies to something completely different. I will therefore clearify this even further: I do not believe violent entertainment causes people to perform violent acts. But all this proves is that they become desentisized to violent entertainment, not the real thing. In a sane mind, there exists a strong distinction between what is real and what is not(entertainment). People are not mindless drones who cannot tell the differance between videogames and reality and they do not become violent by being exposed to fictional violence. I view the rest of your post as pure provocation and not part of a discussion, and I will not respond to it. However I will clearify that "snuff" is now usually defined as being real photage of people dying or sustaining injuries. The films I have seen were mostly outtakes from never shown newsphotage or videos shot by terrorist groups.

Do NOT buy Divine Divinity unless you like Diablo-clones. It starts out fine so you belive its a real RPG but as you play it becomes more and more apparent that all the quests rely on "wander aimlessly until you stumble on the solution" and the hack n slash level just gets worse and worse

200 years ago they claimed Beethovens music was turning the heads of the young, luring them to indecent behaviour. 100 years ago in victorian england, people dressed the legs of tables for fear of their "lustful" curves, 30 years ago, they claimed The Manson family had been inspired by the Beatles White album. Today they blame everything from rock music to roleplaying games to movies and computer games. But the fact is that none of these things are responsible. Truth is that no matter how violent or obscene entertainement may be, its not going to make normal people go out and kill someone. Actually there is a Swedish (its not called scientist whe they research social issues is it?) called Margareta R

Bob Log III - although I like his first band DooRag better ..and yeah, jazz is boring. And the Morgan

Its like the HC and Grindcore genre where theres a million bands who sound about the same so all you do is buy a couple of 7"s, listen, go "this was pretty good" and feel good about your purchase. but Isnt there anyone here that listens to.. you know, exciting and weird music? Most Ive seen listed here is just plain jane, off-the-radio ****.

you people are so normal... Sammla Mammas Manna Darkthrone Gentle Giant Pink Floyd Carcass(two first records only) Anal **** Bo Hansson ..forgot about Tool, I know all the songs note-by-note so I dont listen to them anymore but I regard them as the best band to have ever walked the earth

With Valve pace in making games, you wont be seeing HL3 until earliest 2011...

The only thing it has a chance of being effective against is 0-day warez. Sooner or later, the crackers will break the protection no matter how advanced it is.

Itd be fine if it worked that way but sadly its usually about companies doing their best to trick or force us into buying low quality products at overly inflated prices. ..I should probably add that above scenario is more of a Micro$ thingie than a Blizzard thingie.

MMORPGs are great revenue generators. First you sell people whats basicly just a game engine, then you supply them with servers and say "its YOU who create the game" so they will accept your ridiculously high fee. Its surprising that they havent gone pay to play in the FPS world yet.

Ive been using photoshop for... oh dear.. 10 years(im not old, i started young). Im spending the holidays with my parents so I havent got access to any of my stuff so I whipped this(attachment) together as an exercise how to use my new Wacomtablet. I like the way old b&w films look colored so I tried it myself. Oh, wait, I do have this. Its a flyer I did after sifting through a page of Cuban revolutionary art and propaganda posters. Its a friend of mine on the picture. The background should have been in a higher resolution but it was a rushjob.

Ive never played a MMORPG and I never will ...but I know what the job feeling is about. I was lured into playing The Sims2 and spent a frightening amount of hours on it just going for the "Ive just got to make shure the husband gets his promotion so I can buy that other house and.." Then I went away for a few days and when I came back I couldnt understand why I had played the game. It gave me nothing and had no point, I wasnt even having fun.
