  1. We had a Chechnyan/Belgian terrorist here a while back - he blew himself up in a hotel by accident though. But here at least most pickpocket thieves, beggers, organized robbers etc come from slavic or east european countries - but I see your point, it would be easier to integrate slavic people who are interested in coming here. If you talk about the guy in Denmark (sounds like Denmark) he was a Muslim, though.
  2. Hearing my barbarian yell "FURYY!" while he explodes a poor cleric in Icewind Dale 2 made me spill out my drink in laugh... I want that again. =/
  3. I am all for live and let live. I will point out, though, that when a person lives by a saying such a "Trying to get me to "convert" is not going to work however." ..then he has left rationalism behind. It is an oxymoron to think yourself a rational thinker if you dismiss everything that does not correlate with what you decided to believe, just because it (the information that is) doesn't agree. It is a big problem when people take things personally, or see it as others trying to 'convert' them, every time a new piece of fact, truth or knowledge is discovered that doesn't fit into the faith they adhere to. Im afraid you misundestand. Either deliberately or involuntarily. Im as rational as they come. I will hammer you in a discussion for using logical fallacies or using nonpeer reviewed or biased sources. But the thing is, faith is an abstract you cant "quatitize" or "qualitize" if you will permit such terms. Faith, in its nature is not logical. You can have faith in your dogs behaviour, in your partners loyalty, in your childs love, but you dont KNOW if you are indeed correct from a logical / normative / empirical stance if the dog does indeed love you, if your partner is loyal (by your definition in action and thought) or if you kids/significant other really "loves" you (and the definition of love varies between persons too). Its faith. Its got **** all to do with logic. You can build ad hoc and subjective narratives and "evidence" for its existence buy you cant scientifically prove any of it. If you can define and scientifically prove "love" however, I will defer. I dont take much personally. Im danish. We like cartoons and taking the piss out on our gods. We have been doing it for 1 thousand years. We still do it to the point where people burn our embassies and even that we dont take too seriously. Give us beer bacon and boobs and we are quite open for compromise. :D. We generally dont disregard facts of life... and neither do I. Just dont try to cram your definition of love, faith, morals or ethics down our throat. We generally dont like to be told what to believe. The you in my post was more a general 'you' A look into neuroscience might shatter your view of love. It might do the opposite. Dopamine brings people together and oxytocin keeps them attached, this has been proven. Neurochemicals *is* love, scientifically speaking. I do, however, wonder if you would accept that.. it is a less 'romantic' way of seeing love for some, I personally find it fascinating. http://Chemistry of Love this link gives a decent description of the processes. The definition of love, however, is in the eye of the beholder.. the processes is measurable and similar. No matter how special a love you have felt, if we cut the access to the processes in your brain that makes love work, you would not feel it anymore. It is all in the brain, and not in the heart for example. Fun fact: When the first heart transplant were made people were deeply frightened that the patient would lose all the feelings and emotions so many thought were centered in that organ. I am Danish myself, so I know well what you talk about.
  4. Continues is a remnant of arcade machines to make people put in more quarters, I don't see the point of such a mechanic in this age.
  5. So the word-choice isn't ideal. This is a discussion forum and so far discussion has been pretty good. Obviously this forum functions as a type of barometer for the developers to take inspiration from, not copy directly. If you disagree with OP, argue the point. It is not presented as a topic of discussion, but as a demand. I have no disagreement with skipping tutorial, as I never use such, but that is irrelevant to my critique.
  6. Oh look, another thread with someone demanding things in PE. **** will hit the fan when this game is finally released and the swarms of people not having the game cut exactly after *their* demands see the result.

  8. Traveller from a far-off land, pretty simple imo. Excuse me for being happy you are not one of the game writers. Doesn't get more easy and cliché than that x.x
  9. This is where the satire comes in. Volourn is hardly unique in presenting his position in this way. In virtually every forum that has RPG focused discussion this comes up a lot. Mind numbingly so. CTRL + Q to Enable/Disable GoPhoto.it What do you expect to find as topics of discussion on RPG focused forums? You might as well be shocked to discover the grass is still green every morning.
  10. ^ HAHA! Ah, the internet =P
  11. I didn't ask what it -will- be. I asked why people -want- it that way. And that hasn't been explained in an understandable manner. I've still yet to see an actual gameplay(not cut scene) screenshot of an isometric game that doesn't look bad compared to the general feel of neverwinter nights 2, which is itself a graphically dated game. Could you elaborate why you feel the need for this discussion? They make a kickstarter where they are very clear about what type of game they wish to make, in it's old style, and you make a thread talking about dated graphics. I don't see any smoking gun here.
  12. I figured that would explain, in part, why you felt PST was a better game in your optic. PST is more "Japanese" in style, compared to the others you list, but the way you described BG (my favorite) with the 'carelessness of a teenager who is talking about how tired he is of homework' it could be you simply preferred a very specific style of a game.
  13. CTRL + Q to Enable/Disable GoPhoto.it Solonik I am curious. Did you play a lot of FF/Chrono trigger type of games?
  14. I don't know what I find most disturbing.. the video example of this OP or the 'worshiping' of pokemon in the comments.
  15. Ah Paladin players, so we meet again. *shifty eyes*
  16. People who favor a good degree of realism are the kind of people who could never get into games like Final Fantasy, i wager. I never could, but, I know many people loved the games more than a fat boy loves cake. They rate such games very high on the all time best rpg-list in their minds, and so, it likely to a degree shows that realism has little importance to many out there.
  17. This is what can be so fascinating about the human brain. Things that are stunningly clear for some, others can be completely blind towards. It is not logic that dictates this inability. Big congrats on the election, the rest of the educated world is making a sigh of relief.
  18. Let me know if you are willing to put money on that. It's not a bet, it's a very safe assumption. BioWare makes competent games if they get enough time. What you figure to be a very safe assumption could be easy money for me, were you a gambling man. Your assumption is obviously an oxymoron if you consider it a bit more. EA controlled =| makes competent games if they get enough time. Doesn't get more safe than that.
  19. Get on that BG2 LP *waves hand*
  20. Let me know if you are willing to put money on that.
  21. Only a metagamer would know Imoen was kidnapped by Irenicus.. the story shows you the cowled wizards taking her and Irenicus away.. any other information is not 'seen' with your protagonists eyes.
  22. The problem is that the proper meaning of Trolling has been lost. It used to be fairly clever, like this and the fat issues thread whereby folks didn't actually realise they'd been trolled (q.v. Bugaboo on the old Eric Noah 3E boards who was a twisted troll genius). Now it just means brain-dead or abusive posting. * sigh * Mcmanasaur has the aura of potential greatness about him as an old-skool troll but at the moment he's a diamond in the rough. One to watch. If you find the trolling in this thread clever, then is says more about you than the meaning of the word. This troll is so obvious and ridiculous that the OP invites to be ridiculed.. hence he comes across as the type who thinks any type of attention is better than no attention. He is a perfect example of someone trying too hard, and some people expose themselves, further, by thinking this OP has made successful or clever trolling.
  23. He has been trying for a while, this OP is trying too hard. He is screaming for attention, someone give it to him before brains melt. x.x
  24. HEY, you leave Trajan out of this. Erosion and human error are the issue here. But the more pressing matter is that this is a fantasy game with fantasy characters, some of whom are going to be intended as swift and agile. But a significant number of players aren't going to be happy when the dice roll and that swift/agile character suffers an immediate mortal wound due to lack of heavy steel plate. Sawyer's already said on Formspring (in response to someone's complaints about New Vegas not being realistic enough,) that a game stops being fun when there's too much realism. It's not exactly a big stretch to make up an animal whose hide is tough enough to act as viable armor, this being fantasy and all. Leather does not protect against heat, it makes you even hotter in the heat. This is the water-impermeable skin flayed from an animal's body we're talking about here. Yes, it would provide limited-duration protection from a not-extreme direct heat source (put on a leather glove, slap that hand on an oven burner for a few minutes and you'd get to tell me about your new burn scars,) but wearing a leather jacket in the desert? Have fun dying of dehydration that much faster. *Wooooosh* Get back to me when you come across that mage who casts a 10 minute flaming hands on you.
