Chris Avellone
Sedrefilos replied to Anaeme's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
When he's about to do something new, I guess we'll know via media. But I wouldn't fear about PoE. His contribution to the game was not that big at the end (apart that he wrote the 2 best companions! But the game was more than that). -
Twin Elms

Help Picking a Class
Sedrefilos replied to bhill1007's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Take a d12 and assign a class to each side. Then roll it and pick that class. If you roll 12, re-roll. -
How do I drop stuff?
Sedrefilos replied to Night Driver's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The law for littering is VERY strict in Eastern Reach. There are these omnipresent invisible littering cop ghosts that chilltouch anyone that litters, so no dropping in this part of the world. Sorry. But you have this unlimited stash. Just shove 'em all in there. -
How are you guys using food?
Sedrefilos replied to Kirkibost's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I choose the ingredients that I want my food to be consisted of. I prepare them and cook them in the way I'm most in the mood at the time. Then I put them on a plate and slowly eat them using my mouth. I sit or lay somewere afterwards. After some time, my body has absorbed what is useful for it; I go to the toilet and dump the rest. Yeah, not funny. Had some time to write something in the forums so... Anyway, my quickslots were mostly used up by potions and stuff so I consumed the food from my inventory before entering a place that looked dangerous. -
Romance Packs DLC
Sedrefilos replied to GadgetSun's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's kind of the point of DLC to add things to the game that weren't "meant to be" in the orginal game. If it was meant to be in the game, it should have been there from the start, and if it wasn't, it should be provided free with a patch. Now, you may not feel a romance is a worthwhile addition, but that's a totally different thing. Some people think romances would add to their enjoyment of the game. DLCs put stuff that are part of the game design. Like new abilities, monsters, loot etc. They won't put stuff that the game is not designed around. And it is not designed around romance. They should put dialogues, paths, plot outcomes and many more stuff thus changing the whole game and redisgning it! Maybe in a sequel that is made having romancec in mind. When you get a DLC for, say, Civilization, you mostly get a new Civ or some balance twitches here and there. You don't get a zoom-in RTS combat map for instance. -
Romance Packs DLC
Sedrefilos replied to GadgetSun's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I don't understand people who ask for things that are not meant to be in the game. Ther are no romances - period. Maybe they'll do it in the sequel? Who knows? But romances are not in this game. Let's start asking other stuff that are not supposed to be in the game, like durability for items or mounts or 360 rotating view or whatever. -
Why is this game so hard?
Sedrefilos replied to Devious13's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's not that hard. It's ok, challenging, but not hard. And I'm not a hardcore gamer. Maybe you are dealing with monsters much higher in level than you? Try again after leveling up once or twice. -
still in total amazement
Sedrefilos replied to ojthesimpson's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The game is very good and if they listen to the feedback carefully and not crowdfund the sequel, it's gonna be the best rpg to date. Fallout 4 has one huge disadvantage: it's made by Bethesda and this means meh story, uninteresting and forgetable characters and most importantly bad (if any!) roleplay. -
How many more patches?
Sedrefilos replied to MachoGrande's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The game was playable from day 1. Just play it unless you want to wait for the expansion(s). -
Maybe its for the best. He wasn't a project lead for a long long time. Obsidian is full of talented people. Maybe we get to see a new rpg soon that is Avellone's creation. Who knows?

If you are a fan of Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate games and you want up-to-date 2D/3D graphics and mechanics, I believe you're gonna love it. Now about the price, only you know if you're gonna miss the money. The best demo you can find is a torrent. Download the game and see for yourself, then buy it if you think it's worth the money.

Full VO or no VO at all. If they want to go for full VO, better do it if they have the money for it, not cutting from elsewhere. Edit: also, portraits for all npcs that initiate dialogue, even bartenders and merchants. Didn't vote.

I miss mana...
Sedrefilos replied to Wbino's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well I can't say I miss mana because it is in every single game Seriously now, I too believe resource mechanics are better than per whatever uses, but I also believe they made it right in Pillars. I like the strategy of reserving your best abilities till tougher battles. It is not frustrating as Bladur's Gate or Icewind Dale, so I see it as a new (and successful) take to that old system. -
Unnecessary features
Sedrefilos replied to Awathorn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Limited supplies is a good mechanic and makes resting more meaningful, immersive and strategic. Has nothing to do with how many items you can carry. The rest of the points are optional. Don't want them? Don't do them. -
Whatever the case, these are the mechanics of the game and the vast majority seem to like them. Everyone believes it needs some improvements but not radical changes. What's the purpose of spending precious time of you life ranting in the forums of a game that you don't and won't like? Unless this is the best thing you can do with your spare time.

One day, some people played Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate and had their life changed forever. From that time on, they tried to convince the rest of the world who lived in darkness that everything should be made that way or not at all. From video games to toilet paper. And that's it. Yeah, this post is boring as are these people. Constatine, χέσ' τους.

Defiance Bay was a big let down for me. Here's what I think of it (scroll down to highlighted "my biggest dissapointment in the game" if you're bored reading the rest of the stuff). http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/77841-i-finally-finished-the-game-and-heres-what-i-liked-and-didnt-like-about-it/?do=findComment&comment=1664797 Twin Elms was much better, imho, regarding population and themes/things to do compared to size. Replaying BG2 last summer, though, I can say that Athkatla was NOT a bustling place It was big, yes, and maybe it was something huge to see back at the time, but I believe is that memory of the big city with the ambient sounds that makes us believe Atkatla was such a bustling place. It was not It just had many things to do.
