  1. Theres a pretty easy way to check. Look at the date for printing the official strategy guide because if it was printed prior to that date and it dosnt include any of the missing material then it was longer than two weeks before that ending was dropped. Normally VOT is done is blocks. You get your artist in , they do the lines with the director and then they go home. Even if this happened 6 months into the project there is no guarentee you would be able to get your VOT back and re record a less grusesome ending because if you look at the credit list these are some of the top animated VOT and they are always doing cartoons and whatever else.
  2. Play DS and kill them yourself or just kill them anyway Vrook just had to die he was such an arse. Thats not a power you are taught it's a power of instinct (bit like a lesser version of what N has).
  3. Thats going to be a tough one because depending on the outcome of the previous game they could be dead or alive. It's one thing to have a scene here and there which fits. But if your talking about 50,000 lines wasted on an NPC which dosnt work in a particular outcome thats a whole different matter. I think most people here got the converstation with Atton as setting the outcome from the previous game ? Although it wasnt obvious exactly it wasnt really hard to work out it's purpose if you looked at the questions. So you have two choices really. Ignore everything that went before like BG II did. BG II took nothing from your original game with regards to the fate of characters. Or leave out all the questionable NPC's from KOTOR. Given the effort made to maintain the integrity of the first game I'm going to say the latter for now.
  4. Moderators are volunteers not Obsidian employees. If they are busy doing other things they wont be here to moderate. The idea that Obsidian hates anyone is just a little bit laughable.
  5. If you refuse to learn the test of strength you get a wisdom boost instead (+2 I think). Which might be more handy depending on your class.
  6. Dont know how true this is but the rifle is a random drop as long as you are over a certain level. Which means do Nar Shada as your last planet and you might just get one. Because it's part of the main plot you wont miss it. Your talking to the wrong bot about the nav console. You want to talk to a shorter one after you speak to HK. Sadly you only get one shot at the holo. After T3 plays the list for you ask if there is anything else in there and examine his core. The Bastila holo will then play (and depend on what options you took with Atton at the start) you can then talk to T3 about the holo. (that is unrelated to the nav comp btw).
  7. The less you have the more real you can make them. If you only had two NPCs you could devote the whole NPC budget (and save a packet on VOT) to those and have them talking constantly about pretty much anything. The more NPCs you add the less effort you can devote to each one. It's a trade off really. The thing with KOTOR which makes it different to D&D is that the "classes" are not that distinct from each other anyway. So you end up with a lot of NPCs with overlaping skills , especially if you train everyone in their other class. KOTOR II does a better job of making ranged combat viable in the end game. But you still have a lot of people who do nothing but warm the benches unless they are specfically demanded for a story element. Thats why I liked the missions in KOTOR II everyone got some "camera" time.
  8. No a rules lawyer is someone who sticks to the letter of the rules. That is not what this is about. This is about the DM/writer ignoring everything the character has done and accomplished to the this point in order to tell their whack job story. Exactly so if it's bad writing to completely ignore the PC's accomplishments it's equally bad to ignore anyone elses because in the world setting there is nothing that makes Atton or anyone else less real than the PC. They deserve an equal chance to survive by the rules. So your the one who is a bad roleplayer here because you see the people who occupy the world as nothing more than dvices to fuel your own ego. Something I got over a long time ago.
  9. Which is another reason I think LA saw it and went
  10. It depends what outcome you set for the previous game. If it dosnt match what you actually did then events will not be the same. However if you do the game is very good at keeping things consistent. It really depends if you realise the purpose of Attons initial questions or not..
  11. GOTO ionised the remote (its a graphic glitch that it slides into the floor and looks destroyed). Then he reprograms it which fits in with what happens at the end and also how he knows about the remote in such detail when he asks Bao for upgrades. Your supposed to be able to blow the planet up but it requires something. Possibly some event that will trigger Bao realising the remote has been reprogrammed and countering it.
  12. Hard to say really. What usually happens is post holiday there is a big period of no games. And since everyone rushes out for the holidays only the big titles get noticed (obviously KOTOR II is a big title). Market research does show that people spend far more on games over the holiday period than at any other time of year. Especially games for "children" which is why I'm quite confident in my theory that the cuts had more to do with content than time. As you said it's doing amazingly well over here even though it missed the rush. But there wasnt a lot in the way of real competition either it was all PS2 , or ironically came out the week after KOTOR II. It's also had very good reviews so the weak ending dosnt seem to have attracted the same sorts of attention among reviewers as it does here.
  13. Does the Disciple look like a young Harrison Ford or am I imagining it?
  14. They had a problem with the localised Xbox versions which took a lot of time to sort through as I understand it. Dont know if you know this (you probably do) but the Xbox overseas and the PC versions came out at the same time. Only the US was an Xmas release.
  15. Which one is the great hyperspace war ? Or is that another name for the war with Exar Kun ?
  16. If the game is so easy, why complain about that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <Chuckle>
  17. There is also a contigent of Onderon Royal Guard it's a case of everyone from the previous planets pitching in to help to drive off the attackers, you are the cavalry so to speak.
  18. Yes it's fantastic. Put it this way. No way are you ever going to get the whole story from one play without a walkthrough and even then there is at least one gender and alignment specific character which you cant have. My first game was around 50 hours but I was enjoying myself a lot so I played Pazzak and swoop raced a lot. It's bigger than the first one though dont think there is much doubt about that.
  19. There are quite a few quests you can only tie up after your rescue.
  20. If I was called Nadd first thing I would do is change my name..
  21. You get each form from a Jedi master (that is the advanced forms). Weapon Masters get a unique one and consulars get 3 unique ones but less weapon forms. Niman is usually the last one you will get. Unless you are a weapon master then you get Joyu I think.
  22. Yes it does you get a log for each companion which as much as says talk to them some more when you level up. Glaring and hard to miss or not, you missed it. It's easy to check since it happens as soon as you have your first conversation with Carth on Taris. Background in KOTOR is level based and event based. Obviously they dont let on that you are Revan until the "grand suprise". If you get to the level cap early then no one will talk to you anymore until you are Revan again. KOTOR II is far more subtle , you need to pay attention to events and then talk to a companion. Then something you say to them will have an effect on someone else. Like when you gain too much influence with both Visas and Handmaiden they will fight. Then having witnessed the fight that opens up the chance to discuss love with HK 47. Spend a lot of time with Atton and Atton will ask Bao Dur if he has a shot with you (very much like the conversation Han Solo and Luke have). Unless you get those events you will never see those conversation options.
  23. The game isnt really intended to work like that. The characters will ultimately follow the path you choose regardless. It says as much at the begining. While you will get comments as you go either one way or the other and it will cause you to lose influence in some cases. Ultimately your will will supplant that of the NPC and the will follow you regardless.
  24. KOTOR always seemed to be going for a movie approach and having the characters split up and do scenes as well as the solo stuff all seems to enhance that effect. Luke goes alone to the Death Star he dosnt drag everyone along with him. But what they are doing is equally important (so if they fail the story is broken). KOTOR II is much more movie like in that respect. But since the characters are so similiar in nature it's not really that different on a gameplay level.
  25. It's an expression but most people would know that .
