  1. Paladin characters can pick a talent that "revives" once per encounter. Chanters have a tier 3 chant that "revives" party members in an area.
  2. Top (common sense) tier: Pallegina, Eder, Sagani Mid tier: Everybody else, but... Bottom tier: Aloth, he is not bad, the other companions just have better/more dialog.
  3. I like prerendered background more for IE style games, this engine has a lot of ??? attached to it.
  4. Depending on how they handle the hotfix they released after. Still I don't mind waiting a few days. It's just regretable that we have to wait during the weekend. :D
  5. To be clear, it got as much as BG2 EE which was a re-release of BG2 many years after the original. The original BG2 sold over a million copies in the initial run and more than 2 million altogether. Still, if those are the figures for PoE after the first week, then it's doing pretty well. Yes.
  6. It got as much as BG2, I didn't expect that. Did you? These numbers are only good news, especially given that this game didn't have any unique features to hype about like D: OS and Wasteland 2.
  7. In the mean time in the EU (at least where I live) nobody gives a bloody ****. It's a joke, you get it and move on. I got a gay friend who jokes (constantly) about "not-gay" (moogles ) people, so what? It's a joke. This whole gamergate thing is completely alien to me. This whole thing began with people saying this is stupid to begin with. Just ignore it and move on, it's the best way to deal with it. There is also a mod being released to make the game more up-to-date politically correct. Here is a preview.
  8. Some maps can be pretty huge, one problem is that you move much much faster here so some of them seem even smaller. BG had fewer but larger maps full of... well... void of content most of the time. Sure budget shows on some maps, but calling them small is a bit eeh. I'm ok with the size of the maps and don't think they are too few, but I can't stop wondering why some 2 store buildings aren't on the same map, just to avoid loading so much when you have to move from floor A to floor B. It's so annoying.
  9. The resting mechanics works well, this is supposed to be an IE tribute so deal with it. It's not handled in the best way possible, but its still very good. If you want a game with a bunch of cooldowns, resource management and other such crap this is not the game for you and never will be. PoE is a true role playing game, combat is only one facet of it. You might also try pretending to be more mature when posting on these forums. Bah, why am I even trying to read this ****, go play flappy bird instead.
  10. Beloved Spirits is actually buffed since the core talent doesn't effect foes now. :D
  11. I have GoG and as stated in another thread this was to be expected, nothing new. I chose GoG for other reasons anyways. Still gonna keep playing. I hope the patch works. ;P
  12. I didn't even know it was a puzzle I just randomly hit the bells, there was some clue about not hitting the big one first.
  13. Oh, while I agree that the danger of your character's condition isn't emphasized enough, it is there. Actually if the story was what you are worshipping as the thing in good story telling, I would be the one writting your post just with reversed polarity.
  14. I find them equally flawed just different. :D BG2 is a guilty pleasure anyways.
  15. Why is the setting more interesting? Soul stuff is quite cool and meaningful, but beside that, this world is so boring, flat and one-dimensional. Same goes for nearly all companions. Just a bunch of your average regular dudes doin' their thing. And some will say that is more realistic and whatnot, which may be true (you are more likely to run into plain farmer/soldier then into half-mad ranger who talks with hamster), but it is just not fun. Especially if those realistic characters have little impact on story and serve as a talking-fighting version of (not so interesting BTW) books you read. Not once it feels important to help your companion (Aloth), not once you develop some kind of relationship. If not for Durance and Grieving mother, to some extent, talking to them would be 100% chore. And there is 8 companions. Just 8. Say that again? I find most companions not plain enough. I am not trolling. Eder is actually very refreshing given other games where every single companion is a drama queen, total emo, god, demi-god, the chosen one or defender of the realm. Companions in PoE rock, they are not for everyone and I hate how most of their dialog is a huge lore dump, but they are miles better than BG2 Aerie/Viconia or DA style crap. Their only flaw is the lack of meaningful connection to the main character, but that will not fit well with the story in PoE.There are times in the game where I just wish if some of the party would banter about drinking a bear when we enter an inn rather than why the god of the thing did the thing. Seriously the bigest flaw (after combat) the game has is that the plot is wrapped so tightly around the setting that it comes short when focusing on the characters in it. Lets face it this is not The Game.
  16. Wanna go on an adventure with me, the paladin and the two rangers so we can all get eaten by bears together? Lets do it The journey continues...
  17. I'm running the game on GTX 275 / 4 GB RAM / i5 and I have no problems with fps, loading times on SSD are 2-15 sec. Loading times on Unity games tend to be long, early D:OS was giving me 60+ sec load times on an SSD, it has since improved but is still slow. I don't think they can fix the loading times judging from other games. Are you running on a 32 bit OS? I had performance issues on another (better hardware) 32 bit OS PC.
  18. Lawful Good Thiefling Paladin, but we don't have that so I guess... Ragtag Human - Savannah folk - Ixamitl Plains - Traveling Merchant (Sadly we don't have that on drifter) 12 12 12 16 14 12 Ranger, because the road to Old Vailia can be lonely. Perception, trading demands it. Perception represents a character's senses as well as their instinctive ability to pick up on details. In interactions, it can be used to catch someone in a lie, to make an observant comment about their appearance, or to notice something happening in the background. Probably gonna pick a lot of animal companion talents and be only decent with the bow, while keeping a shield for dire situations. I'm going to be killed by a bear.
  19. Some tooltips on items and talents need to have this too. A lot of talents don't have conditions such as prone and knockdown as tooltips. Also items need to have an explanaton for spellbind and the like.
  20. I wouldn't say druids are the best. Wizards, priest and druids have a different mix of damage-support-control with druids being the middle ground. I really don't think there is a most powerful caster in the game, it's more about damage being the best choice for most encounters. I like druids the most. As said before there is a belt for druids on sale in DB, just not for spells.
  21. Hilarious, yes the game is buggy. Somehow I managed to get only a few extra stat points and poof that's all. I didn't encounter any of the quest bugs people report (I got lucky). Still I'm baffled how the equip bug (that I am not experiencing somehow) got through QA. Please, let the patch be available on time even for GOG accounts. Please?
  22. We need more of these threads. :D Thank you for the awesome game, looking around the corner hasn't given me these vibes in a loooong looong time.
