  1. Sheikh-as someone who rather not have romance in a videogame, i can see why people would want it and enjoy it and there are many reasons i can think even being on the other side of the equation. -some people just like a good love story. From the bible to shakespear to modern movies and books, there have been love stories for ages. And again as i am someone who doesnt like romance in videogames, i will admit that i have liked and enjoyed a good romance story (a god story is a good story) throughout my life. Ill shy away from religious topics, but i have enjoyed watching certain romance movies (ill admit it i loved princess bride, cassaplanca(spelling it wrong im sure), gone with the wind, etc etc) and quite a bit of anime deal with romance. I like nontrashy romance but ones that have a great story. Look how much and how often trashy romance novels sells. -it maybe a way to experience a love story while being deprived or able to experience one in real life. Some people for whatever reason cannot find someone who they can/will love or some are stuck in a place that they feel canjot get out or is devoid of love/passion so they seek it elsewhere in forms that will not cause probelms in real life. -just a preference. Some people cannot think or enjoy a story unless it has suspence, action, horror, etc and some people do not find a story good unless it has romance in it. It may boil down to the reason why they engage a story and already have expectations wanting to be fulfilled before even knowing what the story is about. Just like how some people go into games expecting an epic campaign or some traces of horror, some people go into and engage a story to find and experience sometype of romance. -some people are just crazy. -some people have only experienced games that have romance in them and believe it is the norm. Well that is just a few bc im at work on break and phone dying, but its basically boils down to different tastes really and expectations. Just how some people love mindless action and dispise well thought out plots or some people like games that are really challenging and some like games that arent and dispise the other, its the same with romance in games. its not black and white as i being someone who doesnt like romance in games BUT mainly because i dont want the romance to involve my character. If it doesnt involve my character i have no problem with it in. And see thats just one person preference as there are many who want to involved, who dont want any form whatsoever in a game, and many others who are in between but different views as my own. so i will stop here and just say romance in a game isnt right or wrong, its mainly a preference. A good game and a good story can survive with or without romance.
  2. I think its a good marketing ploy. Especially tbe timing lol. Glad to see they are still working on some new things even after they are trying to polish what they got so far in meeting the deadline for gold.
  3. Hi Redneckdevil - I recommend picking up the base set and the character add-on deck. Try that with one, two, or three players and see if you like the game before buying anything else. Gamers with a tabletop background have generally loved this game, particularly if they enjoyed other deckbuilders. Gamers with an RPG background (like yourself) have had more mixed reviews. Ok was thinking of bringing my group in which is 3 other people. We love tabletop and mmos and video games all together to try this out. so which do u think i should start off with? Rise of the runelords or skulls and shackles? We have been running RotRL for some time and they are enjoying it but is close to the end. We was actually gonna do S&S after we finished and once i found the books at a cheap price somewhere (i like pdfs but i HAVE to have a physical copy im weird like that lol) so both decks will touch on games we have and will eventually play. also the additional cards...are u talking about the ones that have the iconics or the ones that are for each class? Like i have seen one that had some of the iconics in one deck and seen decks specifically for each individual class (ex. A deck for clerics and a deck for fighters). Thanks for the heads up. Just dont want to repeat my mistake when i first got into tabletop gaming and literally put down well over a grand on books and adventure paths (which im glad i did) but not glad on on the maps and minis and whatnots (stuff i didnt need but spent wayyyy to much on).
  4. Ok im sold and i dont even know what or how to play this game lol.
  5. Ok i LOVE Pathfinder and have been GMing for a couple years and love the setting and stories. Granted it was my first introduction into tabletop gaming. Yal are really started to make me think about buying a deck even though i have no idea what im getting into at all. Really all i would need is just a single deck to be able to play by myself and would i need to buy another to play with my family?
  6. Ok recently found out the game will be coming out for the ps3 and xbox360, sadly another reason im gonna wait to see if i want this for christmas. Do have a question though, are they making it the "same" game for EVERYBODY or are they gonna barebones the ps3/xbox360 and enhance the pc/newer consoles. Basically are they developing this ON the ps3/xbox360 and porting to pc/newer consoles?
  7. Would like u to try using slowmode and speedup in a video and see how different it is. I know ur testing on "default" but would like to see a video using the other modes, that way i could see side by side the difference in how combat feels.
  8. Where do i go to donate?
  9. I guess what im saying is that to do "all" content in most games you had to "grind exp" and with the ways things are now im happy that i should be able to experience everything and overcome everything without grinding like i have in the past to stay ahead and make sure the future content was insured victory. Hope thats makes sense.
  10. Again.. A Gross over exaggeration of those games.. "Grind XP" never entered peoples vocabulary until MMO's became popular. You never had to grind anything in any IE game unless you wanted to.. which IMO was stupid/pointless.Mmmm i remember in secret of mana grinding away to level up my fire spells and levels before the first main boss and basically every new area whenever i gain new caps on my abilities. Ff3 i remember grinding up my characters to learn new magic and become higher levels. Same with FF7. I remember grinding alot in dragon warrior games, basically spending a whole afternoon grinding slimes to get enough cash for all the gear the first town had and to be able to successfully survive wandering trying to find next town. I remember grinding in legends of lagoon because of just simply following the quest line strictly meant that u were under level and undergeared for the boss fights. I remember grinding in earthbound for new weapons and being able to survive because i felt i needed higher level spells and abilities to survive. In dragon age and mass effect, I remember going and finding every enemy so i could be at the topest level as i was doing the main quests. Ahhh i could go on and on about the many games ive played thru the years and will say ive known about grinding wayyyyy before wow even came out lmao. And i havent even touched isometric games yet until the past few years. You never needed to do this to beat the games.. Chocobo Racing, Leveling Materia, Grinding to 99, fighting extra bosses, farming zone eaters, getting gogo or umaru.. None of those games required you to play the hidden content or grind levels. That was something you did for enjoyment. You can beat all those games at mid-level fairly easily, the hardest bosses weren't the last bosses but the optional bosses. It wasn't called grinding.. it was called playing the game. Grinding is something you do repetitively because you have to. You can't fully experience WoW at level 35.. and if you hate leveling then the optimal way to level is GRINDING dungeons or GRINDING mobs. It's generally faster to grind something then do quests. You had no choice in WoW. In those games you do. If you choose to grind creatures so you can reach the max level when you only needed to be level 50 - 60.. that's your own choice and your own fault if your not having fun. True and i will go ahead and say i didnt "HAVE" to except maybe in dragon warrior but anyways, i was simply saying and i guess i missed the point that "grinding" had been out before WoW and even talked about (ex. Stradegy guides would tell ya to beat such and such u need to "grind" out a few more levels to be safe etc etc.) Now the thing is i dont really understand the "grind" being labeled with wow though. I stopped playing wow for some time but even in vanilla u didnt have to grind ur way up to get higher levels, u just go into areas and do all the quests and then go into another area and do their quests. Now i will say that ur professions u had to "grind" but thats optional, or pvp which was also optional, or for gear to do endgame raids and whatnots which are also optional, but then there were some quests that u had to "grind" out kills for certain drops. You dont HAVE to grind killing everything to reachmax level, all u had to do was stay mobile and go find areas where u could get quests at.
  11. Could be multiple reasons why developers care. reputation of the game may haps. If a loophole is exploited or gaming the system and it becomes to easy and people complain, the game could get a reputation of being something it wouldnt be for most players. Its the creation we are playing and they may have a certain amount of pride or vision how it roughly goes down. In this sense picture a GM/DM who basically came up with a toolset and created a world and all that goes in it down to the races and politics and gives the players a story campaign (not a sandbox campaign). They put in alot of work and may have emotional pride or vision to see things unfold somewhat "their way". Thats ok to feel that way BUT since the player PAYS to play they are entitled theirown rights. So because the player is entitled to his/her own rights because they paid to play, they work and build the system to where their vision of things can still have a somewhat likely hood of coming across. Then theirs the modding which is basically "hey we did this work, u do it however within these rules BUT if u want to spend time and effort (aka modding) u can tweek things ur way. Granted i threw out examples of "emotional" reasons that a developer has every right in feeling, but i guess since ive started GM/DM and seeing the amount of work that goes behind the screens that alot of players have no idea is going on or what went they went thru to engineer that or the things they bypass and the amount of work that went into things that didnt see any light, so ill admit im pretty bias for the developers on the subject and will admit i problemly didnt give any good examples. in a video game just like any other game, the perwon running the game should have a say and as much as the person who is playing. But then money gets involved and pretty much skewers the lines and whatnot. Any way i gave them money for the game THEY wanted to make.
  12. I think the only pickpocketing system i liked was in Morrowind. Now the stealth mechanics and animations were bad but i liked the fact pickpocketing loot was determined by ur stealth skill and ur agility score. Had a quest to pickpocket a key from someone and didnt have enough skills and agility, u either found nothing or a book lol and would either have to level up ur skills or kill or find another way to get it with magic and personality.
  13. I will answer why amulets ane capes share th same spot, they both clasp around ur neck area. Well thats my personal opionion and u know what they say about opionions

  15. I voted NO. Also i believe Josh was of the mind of just throwing ideas out, not actual serious ideas of "this is what we ARE gonna implement".
  16. I think the problem is we are used to classes being flexible and taking on other classes jobs. It seems that with Pillars each class has a job to do and they do it well but they dont do other classes roles. Say for instance a fighter. A fighter is designed to be a "tank" and does the job very well. Now u can make the fighter do something else that another class can do BUT wont do it as well as they would. They wont be as good as a ranger with range weapons, as a rogue with burst dmg, or as versatal as a barbarian. Each class is designed with a purpose in mindand while u can make them do something else, they shine when they are doing what they are designed for. At least i think thats what the purpose of the classes are for. Since u cant multiclass and such.
  17. Also just to throw out there, they have a program called fantasy grounds which u can get off steam or their website. It has alot of toolsets and i do believe numeria as well. Its the program i gming with until i had to quit hopefully temporally because of changes at my home. would love to join but itd have to be in the future so post again if u run something in tbe future.
  18. Sadly im late to the game but Minecraft is sucking up alot of my time. Had it for the phone and even had the demo but didnt really enjoy it. My daughter loves it though and i bought it for her and she wanted me to build her things because she gets scared of the nighttime since 3 creepers kamikazed her house and now it has 5 spiders, 8 zombies, and a few skeletons now living there and shes stuck because it spawns her in the middle of them when she dies....over and over again. Shes just started school lol. So she got me hooked after i built her a nice home in a mountain that any dwarf would be proud of and a 9 level mage tower on top of the mountain. Wanted to build her a huge bridge over everything to another tower but to damn hard. Until we found creative mode. Nows shes having fun flying everywhere and fishing and spends her time trying to rescue her friends she calls now from lakes and holes and whatnot, the same creatures who agressively mauled her character and destroyed her last home. Sigh. Now im watchimg her itching to play myself and build things ive spent the days creating in my mind. Also the plants vs zombies shooter game is surprislying fun. Sigh i need a good rpg to come out before i accept the filthy casual inside me. Saving money for wasteland 2 but thatd have to wait til after christmas
  19. My favorite dice are what i consider my DM dice and was the first dice i ever got and it was the carrion crown dice. Reason why i call it my DM dice is because it ONLY rolls high when im rolling against my players. My players know its gettimg ready to be carnage when they see me pull out those dice for bosses
  20. I guess the best way to get a dev to implement it is to flesh out and give examples and ideas. Setting up sons birthday party atm and on smoke break so i cant go thru and list every background. Maybe someone could start us off and list the backgrounds and what would be a good bonus toit and even throw in a minus in the spirit of thetrait system ) Later tonight ill post my ideas if no one starts.
  21. Lmfao i cant stop laughing. Tyvm i needed that
  22. Ineth made this great graph half a day ago, so the numbers have changed a bit. However, if you block the two upper bars with your hand, one of which, at least, is already in the game, enjoy the view of all the green, cos that literally means that people... ...WANT MOAR XP MOAR OFTEN AND FOR MANY MOAR REASONS!!! Not necessarily. The poll asked us what would be justified (aka we would be ok with in having) and not what we WANT. Like me for example, i voted quest, quest sections, and special encounters/bosses. I didnt vote that way because i WANT exp for those options, i voted that way because those are the options i would be ok with IF they implemented them so those numbers arent necessarily what people WANT, but numbers of what people would see as being ok with. Then again i may have gotten the nature of this poll wrong as i have been wrong many times before.
  23. Thanks.. I agree.. With this part.. not the rest.. Combat XP is obviously the best choice. Lol and you know what, good for you. Different strokes for different folks. Me im ok with the choices i made since i deleted exploration because tbh in my pnp games i did away with exp points in my game long ago and just have them level up at "milestones". Apparently on alot of boards for dnd and pathfinder, alot of people have done the same. And im thinking thats where Josh is getting at. From a GM and tbh i see the developers as a GM/DM sometime u have to reign ur players in or most will set boundaries at the beginning so to keep players in tune with the difficulty around them. Its seems to becoming a common practice in homegames for the "milestone" thing. BUT seeing how i have no problem with this because of my viewpoint, i totally understand if someone does want combat or exp for unlocking/disarming. Hell its ingrained in dnd and pathfinder mechanics, just look at the core rulebooks for them. Theres nothing wrong imho for wanting that because it isnt "wrong" practice at all. And tbh i dont really care one way or the other, its just that playing without the combat exp im in a different mindset than i was with bg or other rpgs in that i didnt go looking for combat to advance, its just now it seems i dunno more natural without the inticement to stop what im doing and clear out each and every level so i can stay on par or above the current content. I dunno im liking it. bah rants over and i need my coffee, dont mind my blathering. Just flapping my gums )
