Struggling to finish
redneckdevil replied to AncientToaster's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Mmmmm it seems to be working but I agree, the biggest problem is that enemies don't disengage. Have them start disengaging and not stopping unless a direct hit goes off when said thing is moving to stop them, doesn't hit they don't stop then imho most complaints are fixed. I do like the idea the poster said about will saves to which target. if target is surround and their isn't a good path to said target, if they are melee then they would swap out for range. Right now disengagement can be easy to get around if u aren't boxed in, like insanely easy lol. Boxed in, yeah ur screwed lol. -

Accuracy
redneckdevil replied to redneckdevil's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Okay tyvm for the info. One last question, if a weapon gives accuracy, bits only towards using that weapon correct? -
Is there a stat that raises or lowers accuracy by chance?

I wish there was more roleplaying tied into this. It'd be nice to see the method work and encounter multiple scenarios where people recognize you as a Bleak Walker and thus they resort to diplomacy with you rather than trying to fight you. The few times I saw the game recognize my paladin as a bleak walker was with responses of where they were trying diplomacy and the responses were along the lines of "taking no prisoners, will not be swayed "

Think of Poe as a "core book" in a roleplaying tabletop game. It's basically the foundation, once we get expansions and sequels (aka other books) then it's gonna be a smorgasbord of options. But u gotta start somewhere and lay the foundation. Tbh as someone who's immensely enjoying the game, I'm impressed with how a lot of talents are viable for many classes. I'm having a good time using different talents depending on what type of character I'm making and I see myself using different talents for different characters of the same class.

Bleak walkers are a lot of fun to rp. As far as aggressive and cruel, I just roleplay that that order teaches u to be in that constant state of mind to use ur pally powers and abilities to their fullest. U don't always have to pick cruel or aggressive since most responses have a neutral one as well. The stats are very similar in what I'm using as my bw pally as main tank on normal and I'm doing fine and loving it.

Loving my bleak walker paladin and imho he's doing as well as Eder is but I've had to change my play style. Built him to tank while trying to maximize what little damage he can. So far the main difference is see that makes fighters can be seen as better is the +2 engagement and the knotchdown. Paladins from what I've seen can survive longer not only because they can deflect more but can also have the DR arua up. Playing the paladin, main difference in how I play is being more focused on positioning and battles sometimes taking longer due to sending paladin in alone at first to engage then focus firing while flanking said targets. I'm with gromnir that they adiquite tanks because they are basically doing 3 jobs at once and they are a niche class to play I guess. Because they can do tank, support, and damage but the trade off is how well they can do it compared to classes that focus entirely on one or two parts. Basically to roll with Paladins other than roleplaying is that they are an "**** hit the fan" type class. What I mean is, priest goes down, u still got some support and healing. Tank goes down, don't worry u still got one that's even harder to take down. Ur damage dealers go down, well the Paladins gonna be doing a lot better damage wise than ur fighter who's tanking. Basically, the paladin isn't here to replace and do better anyone's role. No, the paladin starts to shine when people start dropping because ur not totally lost on any of those roles when the paladin is still up. Hope that makes sense.

new character classes

But my very first character was a pirate though. Dead fire and raider and that's what people saw me as. -
My impressions of the game
redneckdevil replied to Danvil's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Comparing a game that was not only the second in its series but also was higher lvls as well. If ur gonna compare games then go by the first in its series then. If ur gonna compare low lvls in new game design compared to high lvls (God mode) in BG (dnd)......then it's a bit off imho. Bottom line, if ur gonna compare it to BG then compare it to the first game. Save ur comparisons of bg2 to the next Poe game imho. To the OP, good review of ur opinion of the game I cannot give a review yet because even though I have played the old games only recently a few years ago, they never really griped me even though I'm an advid pnp player, dunno why. This game though, I'm in love with it and it's griped me hard. -
...... That actually sounds like exactly something Durance would say lmao

Mmmm I view it as something more forgiving and a bit more favorable than table top Paladins who are forced into only LG in terms of roleplay. Instead of "no evil or great amount of chaotic acts or else u lose all ur paladin abilities", we get what they are doing here which not only is the game nudging us with the info of what kind of people are in this order, but also imho gave me the impression that this is the state of mind that these orders teach to use these abilities to their fullest. The orders almost give a wheel of time feel. Like bleak walkers to the males where to use their power they have to be aggressive and overwhelm to control their powers while the kind wayfarers are like the women who have to be calm and surrender to control their power. So to use their powers the order teaches them, they have to be in a state of mind frame to be effecient, so when u start being in the mind frame that's opposite than what they teach, they start becoming less effecient. Wow, so sorry for the rant lol. By the way, any advice on creating a bleak walker that try's to tank while doing damage? I guess to be a doable tank while maximizing his what little damage output by chance?

None yet because they have to finish the card game first. It was strongly suggested that the next project would be a crpg based in golarion realm. The thought of having pregens as optional companions and given a personality to them, iwd style create a full party at beginning of pathfinder classes, or maybe even a multiplayer game where u play modules or full campaigns of published material. Ahh the possibilities the future can bring lol.

Ok partying last night, I got the cool idea (well I think it's cool lol) of a pirate team group sad wanted to create the one piece characters in the game. Advice be appreciated and suggestions are wanted. Okay, this is what I have so far. Luffy-human monk Zorro-2 weapons fighter Usopp-human range rogue Nami-human female wizard Chopper-Orlan Druid stag form Robin-human cipher Brooks-human chanter (brooks before he died and came back) Sanji- human something, can't decide on class. Either an unarmed fighter, monk, rogue, or hell even paladin Franky-.......human something, I'm at a loss with this one. Well what do ya think? Crazy I know, but I think it just might work. At least it's be interesting and something new.

Thank you Obsidian. It's been to long since I've felt like a kid again being awe struck and sucked in that I don't even pay attention to reality. I'm even staying up late knowing it's gonna kill me and consider the pain I feel at work a price worth paying. At times I'm even feeling like I'm playing pen and paper with the game as GM. At work I'm constantly thinking about playing it and talking to people about it. Thank you Obsidian, it's been to long since Ive had a game make me feel this way. I backed you because I was soooo impressed with FONV and dead money and as someone who didn't really like crpgs, I just wanted that same experience and story and world to get lost in. I had really high hopes and tbh I didn't even think you could go above that. Well this game has have been levels higher than what even I was hoping to expect. Thank you Obsidian, Thank you. I'm proud to admit that u have me a fanatic about you lol.

Mmmm so why not create scrolls, use magical equipment that grant spells. There's nothing wrong asking for a mod for unlimited resting anywhere. That's what mods are for, to change something to ur liking. Saying that the rest mechanic is stupid and pointless, that's when u should expect to get blasted. If u are using every single bit of ur abilities in every fight and end up having to go back to an inn because u already used up 2 supplies after 3 battles.......ur going against the grain so don't complain. Wizards auto attacking most fights and managing resources, that's how it's been in pnp and the earlier games. This game isn't deaigned for resting after every fight and for the player to blow their load in a single battle and then sleep. Hell in pnp most wizards and sorcerers used crossbows for a couple of levels because most games ive seen and games I've ran, u couldn't just rest after every battle. But this is a video game, why can't I blow my load on every battle and the rest after fight? Because while it is a video game, it's trying to bring the pnp experience to us in a different format and wants u to think. So if u want to blow ur load every fight and want a mod to give u unlimited rest, then by all means have fun if that's what it takes for u to have fun. But if u think the resting mechanic is broken or stupid because u want to blow ur load every fight and u know the game isn't deaigned around that and yet u want to anyway, then u can u just gotta suck it up in making sure the supplies are filled and know ur way back to an inn or stronghold. Because ur going against the grain and the design and the comments of "get gudd" or "learn to play" are justified for ur bitching ) Knowing the game isn't designed around that and want a mod for it, that's okay that's what they are there for. The other....yeah...get gudd then

Ummm u know u can detect treasures, containers, etc by pressing tab right without going into stealth. Now if we talking strictly about hidden things, then I'm gonna say so far it feels natural. Tbh the hidden stuff seems like u could tell if a location would have something hidden or not most of the time out in the wilderness and towns, but dungeons...well that's up to you. My first plaaythru I missed some things but it's okay lol. Tbh I've enjoyed setting off traps carelessly and finding out the hard way because I maybe strange but liking that the traps are there as a balancing act in being careless and speeding thru.
