They're really hammering DisplayPort 2.1. It's really not going to make much, if any difference for 98% of people. That's marketing for you. I'm excited about performance/watt and FSR 3. Edit: $999 for the RX 7900 XTX. If it's even remotely close to RTX 4090 in rasterization (we know it won't be in ray tracing) then that's a waaay better value. I guess we'll find out once 3rd party benchmarks surface.

RDNA 3 presentation incoming. The first thing Lisa Su says should be "our new RDNA 3 GPUs won't burn down your house." Edit: Dr. Lisa Su stepped up her jacket game.

You didn't miss much. The best thing Avatar did was raise the bar for dumbest made up name ever with "unobtanium". -
Anyone here play Star Ocean: The Divine Force yet? I'm kind of itching for a science fantasy JRPG and since SEGA is never going to make another single player Phantasy Star, because SEGA hates me and doesn't want me to have nice things, the series I can think of off the top of my head are Xeno and Star Ocean. Xeno has been Nintendo exclusive for seemingly decades now and, while I do own a Switch, I'm feeling a bit graphics whore-ish. That leaves Star Ocean... Man, I haven't played a Star Ocean game since... PS2 days, I think. I need some angsty teens with spikey hair and impractical weapons and armor, but IN SPAAAAAACE. Points for Not M Bison seemingly as the main villain.

Rashomon (1950) - The movie that put Akira Kurosawa on the map, in the west, anyway. While it's not my favorite Kurosawa film, Yojimbo is more my style of movie, this might be his best, which is really saying something. A woodcutter, a priest, and a commoner are taking refuge from a downpour in some ruins. To pass the time they recount a murder and a rape that took place recently. The story is told several times and it is rather different each time as it is told from various subjective points of view. At the end we get the true story and... Well, I won't spoil it, but it always gets me, despite how many times I've seen it. It's only 88 minutes long and those 88 minutes fly right by. I can't possibly recommend this movie enough. -

I always enjoyed Jonathan Frakes telling me how wrong I was: -
It will be interesting to see how it turns out. I thought both Human Revolution and Mankind Divided were good but not great. It felt like MD was a step forward and a step back from HR. The boss fights were a big improvement but the story was just kinda... Nothing. In the end it was kind of just pointless filler and you wound up in the exact same spot you started. It was basically the stupid side quest from The Last Jedi in video game form. The gameplay was good, though, and I was able to pacifist ghost the entire game, so thumbs up for that.

When I was a wee lad growing up in Poland both the 24 hour and 12 hour way of telling time were well understood, but the 24 hour clock was more common, in my very limited experience. Whether you told someone let's meet up at 4 in the afternoon or 16 o'clock, either one was understood and in both cases no one would so much as give you a puzzled look, but 16 o'clock was more common. Granted, this was decades ago.

@BartimaeusI'm not a fan of the Linux missionaries myself. I use the OS I use and I'll throw in a joke or barb whenever the opportunity present itself, but I'm not here to convert anyone, I don't care. Being zealous about it is probably counterproductive anyway. I've detailed this thread long enough and I have no input on prebuilts since I've build all my desktops for the last 2 decades+. So, please accept my apologies and carry on.

Yes, that was the joke, hence the shifty eye emoji. As a Linux user I'm all too familiar with having to jump through hoops to get things working. Still worth it IMHO. But I'm not here to convert anyone, I was just taking the opportunity to make a lame joke.

Windows users and the lengths they'll go through just to get their OS working. /hides

The Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were never going to make it to next year. I was smart enough to not buy any gummy bears, they wouldn't have survived to Halloween, I would have devoured them all, but I did get Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. There's a 0% chance that I have the willpower to not eat them for a full year. Everything else... There's a chance... Slim chance, but there's a chance.

Yes, it's on the romaine lettuce under the tomatoes which are under the bacon. It really doesn't matter, but I like the mayo to be touching the tomatoes, for some reason. Edit: @KP From Another WorldI've never put mustard on a BLT. I'm not knocking it, plus I generally like mustard on a lot of things, but... Hmmm

One of my go to keto foods, the breadless BLT: I honestly don't miss the bread.

I'm in the same boat, I bought a metric ****ton of candy to make sure I didn't run out then barely anyone showed up. Now I have all this candy I'm trying to resist eating. How long does candy keep? I don't suppose I can save it for a year? Almost certainly not anything with chocolate, but lolipops and other candy that's just basically balls of sugar, how long do they keep?

My original plan was to do more predictions at the halfway-ish point of the season. Given how unbelievably awful my predictions at the start of the season were, I'll try something else instead. Most Overachieving Team: New York Giants Despite their recent loss to a legitimately good C-Hox team, the Giants are playing waaaaay above their collective talent level. Saquon Barkley is a monster, so him beasting is no surprise, but Brian Daboll & Co are getting absolutely everything out of the rest of the team and utilizing Daniel Jones, who's never going to light it up but can get you tough gritty yards, as well as possible. That's the power of good coaching, finding ways to stick around and win close games. On the other end of the spectrum... Most Underachieving Team: Jacksonville Jaguars How is this team 2-6? How? This team should currently be right in the mix for a very winnable AFC South. Instead they're in the running for yet another #1 pick next year (can we stop rewarding $#!+ teams for sucking?). They keep finding ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I don't want to give up on Trevor Lawrence just yet, but man, he's terrible in pressure situations. I keep wondering if he could have been a great NFL QB had he been drafted by a team that wasn't a dumpster fire.

I'm in chapter 9 in Plague 2: Plague Harder. I'm not sure how many chapters there are, but this feels halfway-ish. The game is quite good and there is a surprising variety of things to do. While the majority of the game is stealth focused with light puzzle elements, as you figure out how to navigate through rats and soldiers with your constantly growing array of abilities, there are Tomb Raider-esque run for your life sections, combat sections, a turret section, and there's even a decently complicated optional puzzle that gets you something cool. One of the things I really like is how the game periodically has cool off sections where you aren't being threatened and you get to bond with Hugo. It's not just constant tension and oppressive dread, you get moments to relax and let yourself and Hugo enjoy yourselves for a bit. This very much works in the game's favor. The pacing of both the gameplay and the story is handled excellently, which is helped by the linear nature of the game.

I'm quite happy with muh Boys being 6-2 going into our bye week. The bye couldn't come at a better time as quite a few of our defenders, particularly the secondary, got banged up. Seemingly no serious injuries, so they should all hopefully be good to go in 2 weeks in Cheese Curd Country.

The Pumpkins were never my favorite band, but Zero is a great song. Plus, Billy Corgan is a wrestling fan and promoter, so that's a feather in his cap. -
