I wonder if there are any meat & plantain dishes, that sounds like something that would be made in Mexico or Central America. Wait a minute, the internet exists... ... So many recipes, a lot with ground beef, it seems. I might have to give one of these a go, plantain + meat just seems like it should work well in my head.

The second greatest fight scene in cinematic history:

Given my black, shriveled up heart, I'll have to skip the love ingredient.

I'll give GN this, they're good at including timestamps in their videos making it easy to find what you're looking for if you just want to see something specific and not the whole typically 30 minute long video. I shouldn't be praising anyone for timestamps, that should be standard procedure, but a surprising amount of "professional" videos still don't have them in 2023.

I remember that I mildly enjoyed The Outer Worlds; it's a good, but not great game. I never regretted any of the time I spent with the game but I was never blown away or chomping at the bit to continue playing. It felt like a really solid foundation for a (hopefully) vastly superior sequel. I'm still playing Remnant 2. I finished the Yaesha world and now I can play it in adventure mode if I wish. Adventure mode is a separate world to the one in the campaign that you can reroll to your heart's content and run through to grind or try to get specific drops or whatever. I mean, you can also reroll the campaign worlds but if you do you'll have to beat the bosses again to finish the campaign. Anyway, I'm hopping back and forth between The Labyrinth in campaign mode and Yaesha in adventure mode. I really need to find a better long gun. I'm still using the huntmaster that I started with as a hunter. It's a decent enough rifle, but I don't want to waste any more resources upgrading it further because it has a fairly limited ceiling and I'm sure I'll find something better soon. I got the bolt driver sidearm from solving a puzzle (Remnant 2 has some surprisingly decent puzzles) and it has surpassed the huntmaster as my go to weapon, it just does more damage. The one down side the bolt driver has is that you can't shoot it immediately, it needs to charge for a second before you can start shooting it, but that's a small price to pay for the damage it puts out with its 3 round bursts. I also got a really nice new melee weapon, the red doe staff, but I very rarely use melee in combat so it's for show more than anything.

And here's the dish that I guess I'll just call Moroccan Style Beef: Not much to look at but any ras el hanout heavy recipe is going to wind up brown. It is what it is. It's quite tasty, very similar flavor to the mrouzia with the same balance of sweet, savory, and spicy, but with a more complex sweet flavor because of the larger variety of fruit. The potatoes were also a good call, this desperately needed a starch. It probably would work well on top of rice also, if you prefer that to potatoes as your complex carb source. I'm less enthusiastic about putting this on top of if noodles, but who knows? I'm going to try out some more meat & fruit dishes. Sweet & savory is a really good flavor combination.

For no reason whatsoever, here's a zero-g cat:

To be clear, Jan 6th happened, it wasn't a figment of our collective imaginations, but the idea that Trump incited the protesters to storm the capitol is preposterous. It's almost as preposterous as the idea that Bill Gates is shooting lasers at Hawaii. Not nearly as hilarious a mental image, though.

i think all of this is a witch hunt, but some of the charges are technically legit. I'm not going to go through them count by count because, quite frankly, I can't be bothered. Some of the charges regarding the documents Trump kept at Mar-a-Lago are legit, albeit frivolous (you could just as easily levy many of those same charges against Biden or Hillary, Hillary especially because she was never president and I don't think the Secretary of State is afforded the same right to hang on to classified documents that the president is after their term is up). The Jan 6th stuff is total bull****.

No, not all of them. But this is clearly the DoJ being weaponized to go after a political opponent. There has long been an unspoken gentlemen's agreement in American politics that you don't do this. There is a multitude of reasons for this like honor, a feeling of self-superiority like they should be above this sort of thing, but by far the most important of the reasons is that everybody... Okay, maybe not EVERYBODY, but a lot of establishment politicians have skeletons in their closets. Dig deep enough and you could find dirt on a whole bunch of people in DC. it comes with the territory, you generally don't achieve the levels of wealth and power they do without some... Let's say, questionable, actions. So there has long been this unspoken agreement that you don't use the DoJ to go after other politicians because once you do then Pandora's box is open and now everyone is fair game. Plus, it's a bad look if you're trying to pass yourself off as an enlightened democracy. Once you resort to political persecution via the DoJ then you're only one step removed from taking out political opponents the old fashioned way. The permanent way.

I'm going to experiment a bit. I'm going to start with the mrouzia recipe I just used and I'm going to alter it some. instead of lamb I'm going to use beef, I've got it marinating in the spices (mostly ras el hanout) right now. I'm going to add pineapple and some apricots (because I happen to have some on hand) and I will dial back the amount of honey a bit since the pineapple should provide plenty of sweetness. Plus I'm going to add potatoes because the mrouzia I made seemed like it could have benefited from something starchy. I don't know what to call it since mrouzia is explicitly a lamb dish and there will be no lamb this time. I'll wind up cooking it tomorrow, maybe I'll have an inspiration for a name between now and then. Hopefully it's edible.

They keep indicting Trump and it's having **** all effect on his popularity, which is predictable. A lot of people see this as a political witch hunt, and rightly so because that's exactly what it is. I suppose that if they manage to make a felony stick then it's mission accomplished since that would disqualify Trump from running for PotUS, so if that happens then establishment democrats can celebrate by drinking infant blood or whatever it is that they do in their gilded towers. Otherwise, this is only going to further help Trump, not that he really needs the help at the moment. It's funny, not that long ago a president, I want to say Obama, but I'm not sure on that, was asked why they didn't seek charges against one of their opponents during the campaign. Their answer was that they don't do that because that's the kind of thing that happens in a banana republic. How times have changed. On the other hand, Trump sort of started this with his put Hillary in jail talk during the 2016 election. Granted, he never actually had his cronies indict her, he just talked a big game. Still, I guess it could be argued that it opens him up to the ol' turn about is fair play.

I did not watch the video but it is proper internet procedure to write authoritatively about something one has no first-hand knowledge of. I was never a fan of Linus, I didn't hate him or anything, but he did himself a big favor by growing the pandemic beard. He had one of the most punchable faces ever when he was clean-shaven. I am, however, a fan of the other Linus, cantankerous as he often is. He created my Operating System of choice and once famously went on an explative-laden tirade against Nvidia and gave them the hand signal indicating that they're #1, that's easy bonus points in my book. Edit: There are already reaction videos to the video quoted above, because of course there are.

Mrouzia I bought some Ras El Hanout just to make this. Worth! Side-note: I have determined that prunes are the Reuben of fruit. I don't often eat Reubens, mainly because they're just more work to make than many other sandwiches. However, when I have a Reuben I think, that's really good, I should have a Reuben more often. Similarly, I don't eat prunes often. I bought some for this recipe specifically and I had some prunes just by themselves and thought, this is really good, I should eat prunes more often.

I have a hatred for elves*, but I'd say that's pretty rational, I mean we are talking about elves. * Excluding Shadowrun elves, I have nothing against Shadowrun Elves.
