  1. Your opinion. Stun is probably one of the most levelled headed, informed and reasoned persons on this forum who takes the time to present his arguments in a lucid well thought out way, backing up his posts with a wealth of experience, knowledge, facts, and any other relevant information that's relevant to the topic. I do find it Interesting that you admit you find the trolls entertaining. Perhaps instead of encouraging the trolls who are the ones who derail threads that it's better to encourage those who are actively engaged in discussion and debate.
  2. There's the problem. What you might find funny, others see as off topic and would want those posts removed. I often find if a thread goes off topic for a few posts, they usually come back on topic not long after. Sometimes an off topic discussion can alleviate a heated argument.
  3. Chris Avellone was more involved in the forum community when he was under publisher constraints than he's been under this Kickstarter. He was also very active on the BIS forums. Same when he was doing the Fallout Bible.
  4. Ah Quetzacoatl. I see you haven't learnt any reading or comprehension since being on these forums over the last couple of years, or are you still in primary school? It'd be good if you actually read, comprehend, maybe go away for a while and digest what I wrote. And then perhaps respond with some of that limited understanding you might have achieved before jumping in half còcked, because that is not what I said.
  5. I noticed it's being made by Asylum Entertainment. Could be a bunch of inmates making this.
  6. There is a pretty big relation as a matter of fact, imagine exploring the maps in PoE and doing so for hours, all the while you are fighting trash mobs that are in your way. So after playing for hours you open up you char sheet and see 0 xp, 0 character progression. That would be pretty disheartening. So because you guys are scared to miss out on that precious xp, now we have to suffer for our playstyle. Sarex is correct. So much that Obsidian changed their stance on Quest only xp because they even admitted it was a problem and included other types of xp including kill xp in the form of bestiary pages. When you have dev's changing and overhauling the xp system a few months from release, you know there's a problem. I've shown that it's worse with the current bestiary kill xp than the full combat xp in the IE games, the PoE xp system encourages kill sprees even more and I've given reasons why in the beta feedback forum. It's pretty easy for you Luckmann to give an argument from your viewpoint, but if you actually played the beta when it first came out when it was Quest only xp, it was a problem that even some of the die hard Quest only xp fans admitted on this forum.
  7. So what you're saying is if I use Steam to download the game and then uninstall Steam. The game will still work without it?
  8. I've never ever casted prot-evil-10-rad in an IE game ever. You didn't need to. And I've never stood around casting stoneskin every damned day. What a waste of a spell if you don't need to cast it against enemies like trash mobs.
  9. The state-of-the-art RPG romance already has you having sex with a bull. A horse is only the logical next step.
  10. No need for any attacks or engage the umberhulks at all. I use Dog Stew for the Umberhulks. It nets you 11,500xp to make the stew in the kitchen. You can even charm the dogs outside to attack the Otyugh for one last glorious battle for them. Then you can use a thief with hide in shadows or a potion of invisibility or whatever to walk right past the umberhulks, place the stew in the correct place in the dungeon and the umberhulks will walk off for some nice stew. Then close the door on them. That's it. Closing the door on them nets you 18,750xp. Easy peasy.
  11. You can skip most of the quests in chapter 2 and go straight to Spell hold. After the Underdark and when you come back to Athkatla, you can do those quests from Chapter 2 in Chapter 6. It's up to you how you want to play. eg. Do I want Imoen in my party as a companion? Yes or No? If my answer is yes, Do I go straight away? I can skip nearly everything in Chapter 2, go to Spell hold, pick her up and then go back and do all those quests I missed. If I think she'll be okay for the time being before rescuing her, I can decide to pick up a few companions and do some quests before hand. If I don't want her as a companion, then I'll forget about Imoen and may decide to do everything in Athkatla and the surrounding areas. The good thing is I can do those side quests at the beginning of the game or near the end of the game. And I think that's great.
  12. Great seeing players complain about games and blame those games, when they should be looking at themselves first. That's a non issue in BG2 and you know it. No sale. The game lets you walk away from melee range without penalty (ahem, unlike another game around here that shall remain nameless for now) You'll have the same "problems" with 100% hide in shadows and 100% move silently, junta....until you learn the mechanics. The skill is not a misnomer. It's called Hide in shadows, not: "hide-in-plain-sight-in-broad-daylight-derp". You've got to pay attention to the surrounding environment. If you take advantage of the shadows that certain objects (like bookshelves, porch roofs, rocks and doors) cast, you will succeed and the skill will become useful. Until then, your Thief can enjoy all the backstabbing/scouting goodness of his class by using the bajillions of invisibility potions, spells, scrolls and jewelery that this game tosses at you at almost every turn. From SRD for 3.5: "Code of Conduct A paladin must be of lawful good alignment and loses all class abilities if she ever willingly commits an evil act. Additionally, a paladin’s code requires that she respect legitimate authority, act with honor (not lying, not cheating, not using poison, and so forth), The below quote pretty much sums up PrimeJunta's playing of BG2. Time to go read the manual and learn to play. Not only that, but learn to roleplay a Paladin correctly.
  13. WL2 was released on Windows/Mac/Linux on the same day. Lets see if Obsidian can do the same.
  14. I'd also like to see removal of camping supplies and rest anywhere like the IE games. Better yet, a list should be made for everything IE that's missing from PoE and have it put in the game. The 'Infinity Engine Mod'. And I love how it's an easy menu option with ticking or un-ticking whatever you want. I always thought when people said 'mods will fix it', it was a joke. Well it looks like not only will mods be needed but will be required to fix the game for us that want the game to play like an IE game. Because Obsidian sure aren't fixing it.
  15. Some of this is really basic IE stuff that should be in the game. I mean blue selection circles around town people? I can see myself waiting a few weeks for mods to get released and tweaked to make PoE a more IE like experience before I play this. Well done Bester and Sensuki.
  16. Every single game made with the infinity engine was a D&D game. ROFL. It really makes me wonder when people ask a question like; How many games were made with IE and not D&D games?
  17. Then you would be wrong. I don't imagine Skyrim to be a better game than what the game is. I haven't given an opinion on the game itself and said if I liked it or if it's a good game. I didn't know you were a mind reader. Interesting how you know what I'm thinking and how I imagine things, but then it's not hard for you to be wrong at times. I was addressing a point where you said it was a 'tremendous wastes of development time' which it wasn't.
  18. No. As I said, some people need to go back to school and learn reading and comprehension. Looks like you're another one who needs to go back to school.
  19. Some people really need to go back to school and learn reading and comprehension. Stun didn't say Skyrim is the best crpg ever made. He said it wasn't a waste of development time. And it wasn't a waste of development time.
  20. You know what Unity is? Really? WOW! Hey forumites, Jajo knows what Unity is! So, do you know everything about 4.6? Well if you do, then you know the difference between 4.6 and the previous version? So this is not something to be happy about? What am I missing? Maybe you can google that for me.
  21. Hilarious. Bwahahaha. So many exploits. And new exploits that have been introduced that were never in the IE games.
  22. "Casual" player here. Everyone, especially halethrain. How about you contribute something useful. I know it's hard for you halethrain to actually contribute something worthwhile to this forum but maybe one day you might actually do it. Also, if the dev's are going to use the IE games as something that PoE is paying homage to, I have no idea why people on this forum want the combat to be like other games like NWN2 and NOT like the IE games. Or here's a tip halethrain, go play the IE games and then NWN2 and tell us what is different about them. Oh that's right, it's all 'subjective'. Thanks for your constructive input while I fart on your post.
  23. The person complaining the most about other people in this thread is Doppelschwert.
