  1. I like the idea. As for those who find it annoying, perhaps an option, like other games have, to select the level of feedback NPCs give when clicked - none, some, often, all the time.
  2. In BG and BG2 your health regenerated in and out of the combat. Regeneration speed depends how much your character has constitution, with max 25 you regenerate to full health in minute. Only one character (by default) had enough constitution to regenerate and that was Kagain. I think you could boost up CON some more, but I'm not sure it's possible to to get to 25 without the benefit of spells. In any case, it was the exception, not the rule, that a character could gain health back without the aid of spells, potions, or items.
  3. Well, it's gotten rather confusing reading all this, but IF there is a regenerating bar (even if it isn't health) I'm not a big fan of that. The system itself sounds fine aside from regenerating, but I think upping stamina should be left to spells/abilites instead of auto regen. That is, if it does regenerate! As for XP, I'd like XP for kills (I don't kill everything in sight) but I can live with the proposed system, too.
  4. Well, time to try to get in... for the third time. Maybe it's a charm, this time? I didn't give exactly $8 extra, but I gave more than that on top of what I was originally giving (enough for a copy), so I'm assuming that should be satisfactory to get in? After all, why stop at $8? Court Fool of the Obsidian Order.
  5. So in order to mod this I'd have to learn C#? I've done scripting for NWN2 (I think nwscript, a modified C++), but I never really understood it. I did the LUA coding for BG2, but I'm not really good at it. Learning another language.... sigh. Heh, I'm going to have to get faster at learning since everything keeps using different scripting languages!
  6. Since your character (and party) cannot be at the stronghold at all times, there needs to be a guard assigned to protect it, and, obviously, a captain of the guard to see they do the job. I'd like to see if I could pull Minsc from FR to be the captain of the guard.
  7. What I would like to NOT see is having to defeat the main villain forty-five times to finally crush him. That is what I would call dragging the game out beyond reason!
  8. It depends. If something is written well, a much larger amount of content can still seem short because you enjoy it a lot and time just flies. Something written poorly seems to take twice the time to get through just because you become bored. The BG games would keep my interest because there was always something new to do, or some dialogue choice I didn't take (and thus I'd start again!) or a quest that I missed the first go around. If anything, ToB became a little boring (to me) because it was just one massive battle, really, against super epic opponents, but... it was short in itself, so it balanced. What I would hope for is something of very high quality that has a lot of content, with main quests, side quests that can be linked to the main quest, and then some unrelated side quests to mix it up. If those are done well, then they can make a 200 hour game if they want to (100 hour if you skip side quests) and I'll be happy. I like my games to last a long time!
  9. Hey, if they get to 4 million, I'll be glad to sign on to the team for a 0.5 million paycheck. That would help them get more content, right? RIGHT?!
  10. Drakensang 2 began with the concept of you just being a companion to others. They were central to the plot and you, as the PC, were not. Eventually you become so completely involved and then certain events happen that make your character the main, but at least you get a little feeling of being a companion for a short time. I would like to see a game that does this throughout its entirety.
  11. I'm all for being able to import portraits for all characters, not just the PC. Also, one reason I prefer the BG1/2 style portraits to IWD1/2 is that they are so much easier (for me) to copy fairly well when I do a custom portrait. I could never make anything close to fitting in the IWD style.
  12. We need another of those The only good thing about a drow city is that you can slaughter the population and nobody cares. Well, the drow do, but it's not like they'll live to complain about it.
  13. I much prefer cities to be above ground. I think there's more than can be done with them than underground, plus you can have other stuff beneath the city and end up with a nice combination of indoors, underground, and outdoors. If you have it underground then everything is the same.
  14. I actually voted for all options in where to put the humor, and that's because I liked the way it was done in BG1/2. That is, much of the humor was involved with the PC's dialogue options. If you chose, you could play the snarky zinger-throwing character who tosses out one-liners and wisecracks even during the most serious of situations. I want that option because it was one of the most fun things in those games. Other games, like Fallout, had them, too and they were hilarious. Actually sometimes they were even more funny when they were said during serious times just because of the reactions NPCs would give. As for how often, I think it should be quite regular (dialogue options, for sure), but no to an overbearing level. With player choices, you can, after all choose NOT to use them, but if every NPC out there is a standup comedian it would definitely be too much.
  15. What are we at now... nine? Or ten? Either way, nice. I'm not even a fan of mega dungeons. In BG1/2 I found them to be the most boring part of the game, although the items were nice. Of course, perhaps it had something to do with the fact that there was no real plot-relevant reason to be in the dungeon. From what I understand the one in P:E is supposed to be related to the plot, so that'll make it better. Even so... I like to see it expand just because it's fun.
  16. Like I said, if you have pledged enough to get a basic license + the $8 membership fee, then you are in. $25 EXTRA means besides what I had originally intended to give (which was enough for a license on its own). No need to broadcast exactly how much I donated though.
  17. Over 20,000 likes now. Will there be another level at 40,000?
  18. Hm. I already gave an extra $25 (though not separately). If I'm being asked to give even more... just forget it.
  19. You have to pledge $8 on top of the tier you selected. Read the first post of this thread for more info. Actually, I don't have a tier. I donated along with another group, so no specific tier for me. My increase was $25. If that doesn't get me in, but $8 will, then consider me to have gone back, reduced my increase to $17 and then added $8 to it. Well, if you donated directly to Obsidian's PayPal, then it should be ok... or did you donate though the RPG codex or something? This is an honor system atm... until the Kickstarter ends at least. My donation is going through Sorcerer's Place (which will be using PayPal). Even though I've already made my donation to the pool, I don't think they will contribute until the last day or something, so the money itself isn't to Obsidian yet, but it will get there! Ok. Think you donated enough to get one of the 30 licenses? Considering the total of donators over there hasn't reached thirty people yet, I'm fairly certain. Plus, I think I've beaten out at least six of them, not that it's a competition.
  20. 95 more likes on Facebook and we get another level to the dungeon. Also, I'd say we're about right on top of 60,000 backers because of PayPal. If the average donation is, say $50, and PayPal has provided (last I saw) nearly $50,000, that's another thousand backers right there. I think we'll make nine levels total for sure.
  21. I have no problem with some impossible encounters as long as it's one that's easy to avoid. At a later point, I always enjoy reading how people managed to beat the "impossible" encounters. You know they will for sure. Think Firebead or Drizzt in BG1.
