Short answer: we do not know yet. -
Mega Dungeon Level Ideas
Krios replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
hmm, a randomized layout? Seeing that Obsidian is building the game from the ground up (more or less) will they consider coming up with code to make it generate a new dungeon every game? To make it believable, perhaps a few rooms use pre-designed layouts while some other rooms are randomly generated or the loot table is randomized? -
I like the idea but do we have enough time left to accumulate more funds? 10 days left to go ...

Dragon Age: Origins
Krios replied to stkaye's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Lessons should always be learnt. From the good we learn what factors contribute to a success and work on improvements. From the bad we learn of what to avoid, to ensure the final product sells like hot cakes -
Tale's reply made me think of skull, a floating skull lit from inside by a blue eerie flame. How about something like we get the pet during a small prelude quest? Where through dialogue we get to choose which pet we get? Like for the skull, it made me think of a lost soul. A lost soul on a quest for salvation or perhaps on a quest to finish something the person failed to do in life? Vanity pets can be designed to be exotic, have interesting background stories.

PayPal Support is Now Live
Krios replied to The Guildmaster's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
PayPal ensures our money goes to where we wanted it to go, in this case Obsidian. We pretty much need not worry about Paypal's reliability. -
I like to ask about that memorial stone. Has the devs decided if there will be like one big obelisk or will it be an area of stone tablets? Will everyone be able to decode the same tablet or will only players who got the reward be able to get that unique decoding ring? This reward just sounds so cool! Pets, again I hope we get a selection of pets. We get to choose one of them to be our traveling pet for one entire run of game. When we begin a new game, we get to choose again. That will give the Player a choice.

A lot of what Obsidian has done so far is to stoke the fires of its fanbase to get people to open their wallets. And there is nothing wrong with that in principle. If they did not get enough money to cover the basics, and if they did not get more than enough, they as a studio may not be able to stay free of publishers. This project if it turns out as successful, as best selling as it is bring painted, as it is being envisioned now, it will turn into a lot of bargaining power for them in future titles. Project Eternity will never be the best forever. Obsidian will be trying to surpass Project Eternity in their future projects. The bar is raised ever higher ... What we are paying for is like we are helping to build a foundation for even better games in the future ... and taking a piece of that foundation home.

Luxury for Evil.
Krios replied to kabaliero's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Being Evil ... I think that is more flexible (fun) if Project Eternity features an open ended world. Without true open endedness, I doubt you can slaughter everyone without affecting the plot. But the in-between benefits such as a torture chamber for evil characters, I think we might see it hmm ... as a room in the Player House? As for 'twisting' quests to fit the Player's purpose, I think they just need to design the quest to have multiple outcomes to achieve that. But I think that will add a lot of work to the team's already full plate. But this has potential for the teams of talented modders out there -
Audible incantations are really welcome. I am thinking one set of incantations for when spells are fired off successfully, and another set of incantations for when spells are miscast.

Krios replied to The Guildmaster's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Wonderful news I read the disclaimer, it is a bit frightening on the first read through, on the second read through, my faith in Obsidian returns. I do wonder given that the actual game is expected to ship only in 2014, will Obsidian be issuing buyers some form of digital receipt or will we just get the usual Paypal payment acknowledgement in our email? Also how will Obsidian know who on these forums donated for the purpose of assigning those forum badges? -
Drows in this game ?
Krios replied to Skysect's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yea they are probably unique to the Forgotten Realms. Although I would think the more generic term 'Dark Elf' should be usable without license. -
Take time if need be to finish making the game. To meet a dateline is not as important as making sure the story shipped out is the one you want to tell. Now that they are not under a publisher timeline, they should take the time and if need be make time to refine it enough that they do not let their backers down. That to me is more important: It will be your supporters that will determine the fortunes of your next game. Do not let down your supporters, take all the time you need, not more though

T-shirt size?
Krios replied to Loranc's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Unless they let us choose the size we want in our T-shirts, I doubt they will make T-shirts of different sizes. The T-shirt is more of a bonus item, does not matter much to me if I can wear it or not. -
Can we have clerics in this game?
Krios replied to bonarbill's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I am sure the mainstays of fantasy RPG will appear. We have already seen concept art of a fighter, an archer, and I am thinking a musketeer. A Priest (Cleric) is pretty much confirmed as well. -
Melissa Disney
Krios replied to draft1983's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Morrigan fan here, please engage Claudia for some voice work. She will be awesome as a villianess! I like Imoen too. I would like to see some of the voice talent in the old games return for this, a reunion? I think that is unlikely to happen, but wouldn't it be awesome if we can gather the voice talents of those people again and for many of us, it will be a blast from the past. A possible stretch goal? -

Obsidian will not be mass producing boxed versions? If the game sells well, and right now looking at Kickstarter feedback and all over the net, there is a lot of buzz. Unless Obsidian unexpectedly drops the ball on something, there should be a demand for the physical product. Like me I bought the boxed versions of BG2 so I can collect that legendary game, and I play it using a digital copy of the game. Fot those who missed out hearing about Kickstarter for example, they would want a boxed set. Perhaps Obsidian can sell the boxed versions at their own store?

Forum VIP badge?
Krios replied to pluton's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
The staff might also need some time to design and implement the badge. If you have donated enough via kickstarter to qualify, you are assured of your forum badge. People who contribute through Paypal should also be getting the same tokens of appreciation (pending official details for PayPal pledges) -
Should gold have weight?
Krios replied to Intoxicated_Ant's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Depends on the type of currency available in game. If they have a few denominations (e.g. gold bars, silver bars, gold coins, silver coins, copper coins, etc) then sure the higher denominations can have weight to discourage people from hoarding gold, while making the smaller denominations weightless or relatively weightless to facilitate ease of travel. -
A dog companion?
Krios replied to bonarbill's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Yes to pets in general. I like dogs but if the Player has a choice of several to choose from (some that fly or run or crawl, slither), that would be cool. Does not matter if they are RL or fantasy creatures, -
Donations and PayPal
Krios replied to Volourn's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You will need to link Paypal up to some method of payment. I believe the more common are either credit or debit cards. Thank you Obsidian! I am itching to give you my money
