What demands? What we got here is the fans exchanging ideas, making their opinions and viewpoints known to the developers for their consideration. By putting in money, it does not give us any right beyond an invitation to join in on the feedback and a copy of the game and merchandise when they are available.

In-Game Advertising

No ads of any sort at any point in the game or during the installation process. We backed the project in full and beyond. If Obsidian wishes to do an ad to raise awareness, then do it through traditional media like a TV ad, or a trailer on Youtube. -

Not going to order it for now, hoping it will come to GoG some time in the future. Besides I have already way overspent my gaming budget this month, and I have the original BG series to keep me busy.

The End of The Beginning

Daily interest in the development of the game will ebb away. That is a natural response as we find ourselves facing new situations in our daily routine. But I am sure for many here, the project will not be forgotten, just put aside. Take myself for instance, I backed this, so I will keep half an eye on it. Our expectations will gradually take shape over the next year or so. We have been asking thus far, we will be complaining when the alpha footage finally comes out. Previews and more interviews will be published to keep interest in the game alive, and we will be jotted awake each time I suspect lol. And to Obsidian, may I suggest the devs post updates here periodically to give people stopping by the boards something to talk about. Even if it is just a photo of some dev working on the game, every tidbit will help take up the slack in interest. This can be influential when the time arrives for the backers to get their first look at the beta. Our expectations will already have been molded to be more realistic, and any discontent can be managed better. -
I like the potential for Project Eternity to be a great game. Right now it is still very early in development, with much of the game still in the brain storming phase. But so far a lot of what Obsidian has revealed of its intentions and its design direction, I like it, I feel the finished project has the potential to make me a happy gamer. A simpler presentation. Project Eternity is going to be an old school 2D top down RPG. They do not make them like that anymore, except maybe indie developers. Once you have a big name publisher with a lot to invest, it is inevitable the game will be in 3D, graphics will be designed to run on the latest hardware, to give older machines a real workout. For me and for many others who may not have the latest and the best gaming machines, the old school 2D presentation, fixed top down view, these features actually mean it can on older machines. What good is a game if your PC cannot even run it? RPG instead of FPS. Fallout 3 and Obsidian's own Fallout New Vegas, and many of the modern CRPGs they play like an FPS game. You play them in first person view, and you are engaged in an endless hack and slash or a display of martial arts. You do not get the feeling there are dice rolls influencing the outcome of an encounter, rather it is very much a question of are you mashing that mouse button fast enough before the ugly is upon you. I did not have this experience when I was playing the old IE games. Stats and dice rolls really make a difference, which were hallmarks of an RPG in those days. For Project Eternity, the devs will be designing a new ruleset to bring back the old glory days. A-List Lineup. Obsidian has put together an A-List of some of the gaming industry most well known and celebrated developers to pitch the game to us. They have listened and I believe they will take into account what the gamers want, instead of what will make them the most money. That is what I call Passion, and I believe the team has that in spades. By wanting to do things right by the player, which is to me a big plus point. That coupled with their rich experience in making the type of game they are talking about here builds customer confidence in their yet to be released product.

Countdown to Eternity.

We are very close to 3.44 million on kickstarter alone, with 14 hours to go. We have beaten every 'challenge' the devs have placed up. If we add in PayPal we may be at 3.6 million already. This has been an awesome run. -
To make it more streamlined, can the playing cards be added to the Obsidian website, with its own addon donate button?

It has been years since Obsidian worked on IE games, what the players of present day want has changed, the way developers make games have changed, and their perceptions of what worked, on what was and should be popular nowadays have evolved. I believe we will get a game which will be modernized, while some memories of the past will resurface, and will be tweaked to fit present day's ideas.

It depends how much of a money sink the place will be. Maybe they will end up designing the game economy to be more balanced so the need for money sinks is less. It is pretty reasonable the player pays an introduction fee to meet with the mercenary. Many freelance adventurers are in it for the loot, and if someone were to pay a premium to engage their services, to persuade them to drop whatever they are doing to aid the player, it sounds plausible to me. Naturally I expect to get my money's worth. It is also likely the place has a tavern, so the adventurers can rest and spend their gold. The player also gets to spend his gold on services and goods.

It caught my attention they are getting their readers to donate to the project. And it is good for Obsidian to give out tokens of appreciation for those who do donate from there.
