  1. I am curious, are we able to change our titles using our CP? I am not sure but I have seen people with titles such as 'Vampire'. I assume that person is not a member of this Order.
  2. \o/ Next up is the Adventurer's Hall which I am eagerly hoping for. Already did my part
  3. We are not doing Fallout, and I hope to see PE escape the censors unscathed. We are doing mature themes (lol), we don't do drugs
  4. An expansion pack should pack more than a few tidbits, like it's not really a DLC. But it should also not just provide new stuff, places to explore, things to do, it should also introduce new fully realized features which for some reason did not make it into the main game in time. There is this gripe that developers deliberately cut out features which could have / should have been in the main game and repack it as a DLC. This should not happen in an expansion. Hence yes we want to see new content, new features, and I feel it should a big package of not just more of the same, but different stuff. I suggest a varied combination including: a. Continuation of my main character b. a new subplot or a different plot exploring a separate fully fleshed out area away from the original main plot c. Continuation of my companions d. Explore further any developing relationships, romances e. an new romance f. an improved stronghold with new features g. new export feature to allow the Player to bring along his select equipment And no Endless Dungeons. That will be a 'been there, done that'. I am looking for a new area that is large and varied, such as a new city, an entire new region with its own culture, people, themed items, NPCs, etc. Definitely want value for money.
  5. Right. Kickstarter pledges primarily are counted to determine if the campaign will end successfully or not. The stretch goals are like an optional part of the Kickstarter.
  6. It is too early to comment on the proposed expansion pack whether it will be of a good length of content or just a small DLC masquerading as an expansion pack. Seeing that most here have backed the project, we got to trust them at this point. Six months is I feel a tad short to make an expansion pack, but we do not know that ... yet. We got to keep the trust. And many a times the developers have said it again and again, they feel the pressure our awesome response has given them, and Obsidian is virtually making nostalgia history with this Kickstarter. They know a lot of our hopes and dreams are riding on this. They do not want to disappoint, they want to give us the best game they can make. It is so from a business standpoint, and it is a must if they want to retain, maintain and grow their very loyal, supportive fanbase. I should think that failure is not an option.
  7. Two games for the price of one plus an expansion pack, I love this update! It is also awesome to know Obsidian will support other kickstarters, encourages more indie game makers to come out and bring different things to the table. Not sure how much of the live stream I will be able to catch but hopefully I will not see a 'We are sleeping' sign at the time Let's celebrate our success in giving Project Eternity a great start!
  8. Yup Obsidian staff usually has a neon green box with the Developer tag. But they are busy people so they do not appear often on here.
  9. Hmm this is very similar to the rewards at the $100 tier where those backers are mentioned in the in-game credits, for a fraction of the price. I am unsure about this.
  10. Character imports! I loved that feature in BG2. Hope we will see that in PE.
  11. I hope the last stretch goal will not be set too far off. I echo Merin's point that we should try to avoid ending the Kickstarter on a downer. Let's put up the final goal, make it a good one, and make it close enough so it can be reached in the limited time we got left, and the whole fundraiser goes out on a high note. More content, more rewards! I really like the Adventurer's Hall idea so I hope we reach that before the campaign ends.
  12. I think a pack of trading cards is cool. I am not really interested in the card game itself, rather I see the cards as a collection of game art. Hope that gets added!
  13. Seeing the stretch goals and allowing us to put a personal message in-game (a piece of PE history!) ... virtually priceless! Any higher than that, I think only those who have a hefty income can afford it.. So what will make me pledge more when I am at my limit now? Easy, keep PayPal open for donations, and I will (may) donate more when I have money saved up.
  14. If something is tagged as exclusive, make it so. It justifies the value and the price tag. If a company charges extra later for 'exclusive' content, chances are people will refrain from throwing in extra at the start to get the exclusive content, cos it is not really exclusive, a trend is established, then there is that lost of trust, and people will know that right off. Like me I know a lot of 'free' pre-order bonuses will eventually be re-released again as DLC. If I wait, I can save money and probably still get the same content as those who had paid more for the same. Good for me who had waited I suppose, but to me the company's reputation took a hit.
  15. More time spent on development and refining the final product is good. The staff still gets paid monthly wages regardless of whether or not the game is released, and more money means they can afford to spend more time working at it, instead of rushing to sell us an 'unfinished' game to recover some of their investment. How does this relate? Well achieving stretch goals means they get more money, equals they can spend more time making it instead of rushing it off to the digital shelves.
  16. I think I do not mind my companions leaving via scripted events, including dying from such scripted events. But I am not sure of a morale system. I mean how are you going to get your companions to rejoin your party after they flee? When they are holding or wearing some of your best treasures? And the player (me) chose my companions. I will naturally want them to be loyal and stick by me battle after battle, get my back even in the tough, outnumbered battles. Will I deliberately insult them; anger them to the point of them wanting to leave? No. If I had wanted them to leave, I would have simply asked them to wait for me at the next town.
  17. The epilogue is like the last opportunity for the writers to tug at your heart, so please make the most of it writers I hope the epilogue does not end on a cliffhanger with an obvious 'to be continued ...' I prefer my stories finished when it is finished. I do not want to have to buy another installment for the sake of finding out what happened back there. Expansions can tell another story from another region of the world, featuring new quests and fresh plot.
  18. I do not have FB either, but hey more power to Obsidian for doing this. It's free advertising!
  19. Now that we will be having a novella, it is not a stretch to see a novel or even a comic series in the future. If the IP develops and generates enough interest after this first game, I see a lot of money makers for Obsidian, which will mean more games, more Eternity for us.
  20. I just put in my pledge through PayPal. I would like to join the Order as 'Steward of the Obsidian Order' if that is available. Thanks!
  21. We might see a spike of support near the end, but I wonder how much of that will come from new backers, instead of from people who are upping their pledges. I think most of the CRPG gaming world knows about Project Eternity by now. There has been interview after interview every two, three days, regular and frequent updates. Honestly Obsidian has done a lot to pitch the game to its loyal fan base. What I think is more likely is should Obsidian continue to take in PayPal donations after the Kickstarter ends, we should see a slow and continual increase in pledges.
  22. I am not sure about the 'loot pack'. Much of the 'loot' announced so far are thank you's to backers. If these 'loot' were to be made available to everyone, then it will defeat the purpose. Merchandise can be sold to raise more money, just not the same ones used to reward the backers.
  23. We still do not know if they will release the DVD copy with DRM of any kind or not. Your absolute confirmed best bet for a DRM free copy is to get it from GoG. Beautiful thing about this is that once you download the full installer which comes packed with all the game files, you can keep it anywhere you wish, and forget about going back on to GoG ever again (assuming Obsidian supports downloading of patches from their own site).
  24. What can entice me to up my pledge? Well physical stuff. I prefer things I can hold on to compared to items that have to reside in my harddrive, and having to foot shipping is not much of an issue when people who go for the physical options, they will not be paying small change. That shipping fee is akin to small change. And we can easily imagine digital rewards will be quickly distributed over the net, and will be available to even people who pledged the lowest amount. So for people who want a reward, a memento that not exactly everyone will have a chance to get, largely exclusive to supporters which say "you donated, thank you" then physical rewards which cannot be downloaded by anyone with a browser connection, and will likely not be sold in physical stores, is the answer for me. What do I hope to see as enticements for my pledge? I am hoping for a physical soundtrack CD. It should be fairly cheap to do that when the digital soundtrack is ready, a DVD collection of 'behind the scenes' and 'the making of' videos, a virtual video tour of Obsidian Studios featuring our favorite developers as tour guides. We can pack all kinds on to that bonus DVD, from exclusive supporter bonuses to special insider view of what went into the making of the game. Yes all this can be downloaded but Obsidian can consider packaging it in an Obsidian designed DVD casing for example. To convert a lot of the digital items into semi or fully physical items.
