  1. Yes, do mature Dragons have soul-based powers and are they subject to reincarnation? I'm also wondering what they do with their heightened intelligence. Perhaps they meddle in the affairs of others? It looks great. Thanks for the lore as well.
  2. Troll! Indeed. Gifted is guilty more than any other moderator I've seen of being exactly what a moderator shouldn't be: an immature troll. Beware the infinite loop...
  3. If PoE becomes a successful game in the market, that's more of a reason to use Kickstarter than not to. A successful Kickstarter campaign should reduce the financial risk of developing a game because most of the funds will be available at the start, without strings attached. In addition, the independent nature of the funding eliminates the potentially undesirable influence of a large publisher, while putting the developer into closer contact with the end customer.
  4. The person writing the article makes the comparison to the Death Star which is nonsense as lasers are light and wouldn't behave as a solid in those conditions. The better analogy would be on how they use it for medicine by having multiple lasers intersect on a given point to burn something malignant. I wonder how well a reflective tinfoil countermeasure would work?
  5. That could just be an effect of the perspective method used. They had to use the same perspective for all viewing locations, whereas a 3D game can show the localized perspective. The result is a subtle difference in viewing angles.
  6. I saw some news today that leaves me happy: Twentieth Century Fox has picked up the film rights to Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. I hope they actually film it this time, and do the book justice.
  7. BTW, why is having "too much money" a problem? What issue are you trying to solve by draining a player of funds?
  8. The GTX 970 alone is over $300 on NewEgg. This Steam Machine could be pricey.
  9. F:NV included money sinks like implants that were fairly expensive, but could be used to up your entire capability. These had the advantage that they supplemented whatever other gear you had acquired. Potentially something like this could be added that employs some type of soul-based 'technology' to enhance your core being. At higher levels, such enhancements could be made necessary in order to tackle the most powerful beings.
  10. I went ahead and backed it, but with the expectation that the project may (~40%) flounder. I think I understand the risks, and I accept that my money may be lost. Just hoping for the best at the moment.
  11. Yeah I saw this, its appalling but really just confirms the nature of the political climate in Russia. At least Putin condemned it Yes, Putin "condemns" this act.
  12. An interesting cookie might begin by having the player decline an otherwise appealing quest line, then having that choice lead to an even more interesting outcome.
  13. There's no alignment in this game, so trying to fit the Lawful Awful mold is probably not a practical goal.
  14. ...you can make a save vs. death roll...
  15. For simplicity, #1 could be managed by ammo charges that are recovered per rest, with the #charges dependent on the character stats. Otherwise it's just a tedious bookkeeping exercise. #2 seems like another tedious bookkeeping requirement. For #3, I guess you mean annotations? Per #9, why can't they add themed sub-skill bonuses as talents? For example, the Nimble Fingers feat in D&D gives you a +2 bonus to open locks and disable traps.
  16. A reality TV cooking show?
  17. I did enjoy it quite a bit, along with the sequel. My main issue with the game was the amount of repetitive running around it sometimes involved. There are some pretty good mods available for KotOR nowadays if you are game for a replay.
  18. probably means a person who will have sex with everything that can be defined as a living being regardles of age, gender or species Or, it could involve kitchen ware...
  19. History makes the present day context more understandable--why things are the way they are. To me, dates and names don't matter as much as motivations and innovations.
  20. In terms of American Football, I'm interpreting Endurance as determining the amount of physical effort that you're able to put out in the later stages of the game after being repeatedly beat upon; Health I see as deciding whether you need to sit out the game because you're physically unable to perform. Fit players can recovery their Endurance between games, but Health injuries require extensive treatment that can take weeks or months to complete. What is a little unusual is for Health to be a direct percentage slice of Endurance as in PoE. But I suppose that is a simplification mechanic for the sake of game play (as the speedy recovery time).
