  1. This afternoon Greek PM Alexis Tsipras addressed the country reaffirming his commitment to next sunday's referendum, where the Greek people will have to vote on... stuff. Nobody is quite clear on what the referendum is really supposed to elucidate, as the previous bailout conditions are off the table after Greece failed to pay back 1.8bn € in due time. This is after a letter started circulating by which Tsipras would allegedly accept the latest proposed terms of the bailout, with some amendments. Tsipras has stressed that a "no" vote, for which he is campaigning, doesn't mean Greece would leave the Euro, as some have suggested. Should he lose the gamble, he may be forced to resign, by his own admission. German Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to wait until after the referendum to start a new round of talks, French President François Hollande wants to reach an agreement before the referendum. At any rate, it appears that the referendum itself will solve little regardless of the outcome because after years of austerity and cuts, the Greek economy has shrunk and can no longer sustain the debt, at least in the opinion of one Paul Krugman (Boo! Hiss!). It is more of this austerity (pensions cuts, VAT raises) that the Greek government and the troika disagree on. As I'm sure you all know by now, Greece has been suffering capital flight since SYRIZA won the election on january, and after defaulting on the june 30th payment, things have reached a breaking point with banks closed since monday and limits of 60€ per card and day being imposed on cash withdrawals in an attempt to avoid a total financial collapse. What seems to be at stake here (other than the future of millions of Greeks, obviously) is the stability and continuity of the Euro as a currency, as nobody really knows what a contagion could bring, and potentially, of western Europe as a political entity itself. As Chancellor Merkel put it four years ago: "Nobody should take for granted another 50 years of peace and prosperity in Europe ... that's why I say: If the euro fails, Europe fails". Fun times.
  2. So, after (allegedly) North Korean leet haxxors broke into Sony's computers and leaked juicy bits such as some producer accusing Angelina Jolie of being a big poo-poo head, the studio decided to pull an upcoming movie, The Interview. Some cinemas protested and offered screenings of what probably is one of the worst movies ever made, Team America. But now, in a proverbial exercise of doing the right thing for the wrong reason, Paramount have decided to pull Team America too! *puts on tinfoil hat* Anyone else think this is just an elaborate publicity stunt?
  3. I predict Obama impeachment soon. US elites sacrifice him for save US reputation (Obama is bad - US is strong).
  4. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23034579 Ian Brady "makes himself toast every morning" despite having been on hunger strike since 1999, his mental health tribunal has heard. Brady is currently fed through a tube at Ashworth Hospital, but a nurse there said he is regularly given food and eats on "most days". Obviously the guy is scum. From Wikipedia: The Moors murders were carried out by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley between July 1963 and October 1965, in and around what is now Greater Manchester, England. The victims were five children aged between 10 and 17—Pauline Reade, John Kilbride, Keith Bennett, Lesley Ann Downey and Edward Evans—at least four of whom were sexually assaulted. The murders are so named because two of the victims were discovered in graves dug on Saddleworth Moor; a third grave was discovered on the moor in 1987, more than 20 years after Brady and Hindley's trial in 1966. The body of a fourth victim, Keith Bennett, is also suspected to be buried there, but despite repeated searches it remains undiscovered. I just like the fact that he's _consistently_ worthless. No need to concede admiration for his staying power on hunger strike.
  5. So I don't know about everyone else, but I was extremely let down this week when the game really didn't drop. I thought it was insane to be accusing Trey, Matt, and the people at Ubisoft of potentially ripping people off for a rather expensive game. I found out I was dreadfully wrong. I went over to my local game store and checked on my order March 4th. It had been moved from March 5th to December 2013. This led me to some questions. The obvious is the game ever coming out, but really who knows. Although in the world of software this is pretty normal, it really isn't in the world of pre-ordered games. Ever. I had actually lifted a rule I placed wayyyy back when 'kingdom hearts 2' was released and I was let down by the pre-order, not the game in itself though, to NEVER pre-order again just for this game. Needless to say I am absolutely kicking myself over the decision. My money I could spend on other things is tied up, I have no idea if this game is ever going to be released ever, oh and I SCHEDULED SURGERY AROUND THIS. Yea literally, so I had something to do during recovery. I am not mad at Trey and Matt right now because they let it be known they didn't want this sale to happen, but if the rumors are true I will not have a nice word to say about the lot for a LONG time. So my questions: 1.) When is the release date Ubisoft? No date, no product in my mind after 2 failed releases. 2.) Is this really being postponed to Dec 2013 like I was told, and if so is that because you want to have it offered on ps4? If so I say that is terrible what you are doing to the community. 3.) Will people that pre-ordered and have every intention of having the new system be able to change their order for their new system at no cost to them (since you are stealing my time already...) 4.) Is this really just Matt and Trey hurting the fans because of some payment issues? Although I agree they deserve to be paid what they were promised if that is why the release is in limbo at best (possibly gone forever, let's be honest) then they really owed more to US the fans that turned them from nobodies to superstars. Although I doubt any of these questions will be answered I want to know. I think the fans deserve the truth, especially since our money is backing this release.
