  1. There's no alignment in this game, so trying to fit the Lawful Awful mold is probably not a practical goal.
  2. ...you can make a save vs. death roll...
  3. For simplicity, #1 could be managed by ammo charges that are recovered per rest, with the #charges dependent on the character stats. Otherwise it's just a tedious bookkeeping exercise. #2 seems like another tedious bookkeeping requirement. For #3, I guess you mean annotations? Per #9, why can't they add themed sub-skill bonuses as talents? For example, the Nimble Fingers feat in D&D gives you a +2 bonus to open locks and disable traps.
  4. A reality TV cooking show?
  5. I did enjoy it quite a bit, along with the sequel. My main issue with the game was the amount of repetitive running around it sometimes involved. There are some pretty good mods available for KotOR nowadays if you are game for a replay.
  6. probably means a person who will have sex with everything that can be defined as a living being regardles of age, gender or species Or, it could involve kitchen ware...
  7. History makes the present day context more understandable--why things are the way they are. To me, dates and names don't matter as much as motivations and innovations.
  8. In terms of American Football, I'm interpreting Endurance as determining the amount of physical effort that you're able to put out in the later stages of the game after being repeatedly beat upon; Health I see as deciding whether you need to sit out the game because you're physically unable to perform. Fit players can recovery their Endurance between games, but Health injuries require extensive treatment that can take weeks or months to complete. What is a little unusual is for Health to be a direct percentage slice of Endurance as in PoE. But I suppose that is a simplification mechanic for the sake of game play (as the speedy recovery time).
  9. Shadowcraft: The Glamour War -- "As a player in Shadowcraft: The Glamour War, you will be a highly trained shadow agent and engage in clandestine actions and operations against the dark court of Kormil. Able to draw from innate magic, powerful fighting abilities, and honed skills, you alone are equipped to step from the shadows to fight the darkness. Each Agent will be assigned, or be able to craft, artifacts to aid you in your missions. These items are of lesser power than the Fae relics of the past; nevertheless, they are potent boons in The Glamour War." Presently at $5,260/$12,500 with 24 days to go. Dead Scare -- "is a tabletop roleplaying game that explores an alternate United States in the early 1950s. It's Powered by the Apocalypse and combines subverted 1950s American idealism with a blood-spattered zombie apocalypse." Presently at $3,692/$10,000 with 19 days to go. FAITH: The Sci-Fi RPG -- "A thousand years from now humanity drove itself to the point of almost extintion and was enslaved by the Corvo. Then they came across the Iz'kal, Now the two species fight a cold war for the control of the Labyrinth, while humanity struggles for survival." Presently at £11,232/£30,000 with 20 days to go.
  10. For that, you should be sentenced to the punitentiary...
  11. I had high hopes for Chaos Chronicles in that regard--it was turn-based with a hex grid, no less. Unfortunately that effort died rather unpleasantly.
  12. I think there is no friendly fire. I am 100% sure it doesn't depend on the difficulty setting. Aw, man...
  13. Can't you toxic guys just stay on the RPG Codex and limit this kind of needlessly offensive posts to that forum? Or is it now a standard behaviour of self-proclaimed old-school CRPG hardcore fans to behave like total douches on every possible occasion? Jesus... Well, the good thing about posters with toxic opinions is that they won't then actually play the game and spew forth yet more toxicity. Or at least they won't play it more than a four or five times, at any rate.
  14. Per the PAX South video, did I see correctly that there is no "friendly fire" from that flame wall spell? Or is that based upon a difficulty setting? I haven't played the beta so I don't know what's possible.
  15. Maybe like in PnP. WTF you make a D&D game and change its basics. And if cooldows are so fun, PoE is full of tho.. ups it is not! Cooldowns kill strategy and only leave tactics for combat. I can understand with these guys being DAO and ME devs decided to use cooldowns but I still don't like it in my D&D game. I at least hope character building options are going to be complex but I am afraid they are not. Wait, what? Strategy? You're using that word in an odd sense. Once you're in a battle it's tactics that apply; even to the big picture within that combat. Perhaps you are thinking in terms of how your manage your expendable resources between combats? Yes, managing limited resources is part of strategy. Cooldowns remove all limited resources but time and focus completely on tactics. I understand your exaggerated perspective, but pretty much all cRPGs have some form of limited resources and event planning involved. Even those with cool downs and linear plots. If they didn't then player choice is eliminated and it wouldn't be an RPG. To me cooldowns are just a balancing mechanism, nothing more. Selecting a cooldown ability is functionally equivalent to choosing which magic armor to wear. If you want resource management, then carry potions, scrolls, wands, rods, and invest time in crafting.
  16. Tales of the Sword Coast, while okay for what it was, just felt like a series of short stories that were only tied together by their geographical proximity. It'd be interesting if the expansion actually built upon the ending of the main campaign, either by adding some new ending variants or carrying the story forward.

  18. Playing a few older games can make one appreciate certain improvements in game play mechanics a little more. But in general I now find a lot of older games to be tedious, despite having enjoyed many of them in bygone days.
  19. Right, but five uses per day is five charges followed by a day long cooldown, is it not? At least from a distance there's not that much difference. Breath weapons useable every N rounds? Is that not also a cooldown? Cooldowns have been around from well before computer games. So why the dislike? It's just a balance mechanic. The alternative, I suppose, are either unreliable powers, powers with a backlash, powers that rely on a limited resource, or powers too weak to be unbalancing when used every round.
  20. I'm guessing they'll be Dwarf, Elf, Human, Halfling, and... Half-orc? What's the alternative to cooldowns? Uses per day? Meh, same diff really.
  21. Not sure where you're even getting that; it looks more like a RTwP ToEE. The only similarities I see are in the setting and the perspective.
  22. Heh, love the wild pendulum swings of passionate opinion in this thread based on a short preview.
