PE Spell FX Suggestion
rjshae replied to Sensuki's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Just to be clear, this is a screen shot that I took from the magically-intense final boss battle from NWN. It's not even to close to typical, and is not representative of NWN2. This would be more typical for higher level NWN2: -

Perhaps I missed it, but the article does not mention whether Priests get access to specific spells based on their deity. All it says is that all Priests have a set of common spells.

I'm sorry to curb your enthusiasm, but I don't think anyone in the dev team has commented on the subject of torture chambers so far. Personally I'd prefer that the torture SIM stuff be left for the fetish modders. Just saying...

Will Paladins will gain Priest spells? I don't recall that being stated, and if not that's a significant differentiator. The writeup on Paladins explains the other differences between the two faith-based classes.

I thought that was the whole point of the Kickstarter effort: to bring back some of the feel of the IE games. Remember, BG was based on AD&D.

I hope they don't. Prestige classes always seemed like a half-baked solution to the problem of building the character you want to play in a class-based system.

Very nice. I like the level of detail, atmosphere, self-consistency, and culture you are integrating into each of the classes. Every class I've read thus far seems like one I would enjoy playing. I also like the amount of D&D heritage I'm recognizing in the spell descriptions. Good job. Thank you for the update.

I'd no idea they had a scheduled release time... -

For the slacker backers, there will be the Silver Codpiece of the Camp Follower. They will also gain a unique goat pet named Thumper that is located, for reasons "beyond the comprehension of a mere mortal", in the depths of the Endless Paths. Attached to the pet, you will find an old scroll inside detailing what you may have won if you'd only selected a different door.... -
Update #77: Art in Alpha

IIRC, most of the supposed outrage at the time was stirred by one of the illustrations showing a top-heavy wearer of plate armor. (I think I heard about it indirectly from a news site.)- 338 replies

I believe you get the Master of the Boot achievement, which supplies you with a mule-towed charcoal grill for your camp site along with a burly cook named Jordan.... ...nah, not really. We don't know. -
Update #77: Art in Alpha

Distinctive female armor forms is more of a nod toward the visual gameplay elements, but for me they don't break the immersion so it remains a non issue. It (female-shaped armor) can be successfully explained away through alternate universe cultural aspects (as mentioned earlier), and shouldn't break the verisimilitude as long as the shapes aren't completely ludicrous in form. The issue might matter more if this was a real-world historical simulation. It's not. Agreed.- 338 replies

Posting unique information at different sites would be connecting with a larger audience. I suspect that is not intentional though. Individually they would have different sets of contacts, and perhaps topics just percolate up from discussions elsewhere. They certainly don't owe us a single-source continual news feed for points of discussions--that's a perception of contributor entitlement.

Update #77: Art in Alpha
rjshae replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
If you bothered to read your own link, I've never once complained about boob plate. In fact, you will not find a post by me in any boob plate thread. So I'm at a loss why you would say I am one of the last diehards from the boob plate armour threads continuing with the boob scale armour. But you do have a habit of posting and jumping to conclusions. Also, I'm unsure why you need me to post links to boob armour threads? Are you suggesting there wasn't threads and pages and pages of people not wanting boob plate? Did I miscount? There is Ffordesoon and Gromnir at least. Well I was just responding to this, where you found the situation odd so I wanted to look back and see more of the details. Your statements were so broad and sweeping, that I had to see more. It was a while ago. and then: Right, so it's clearly in another thread and not the one I linked at and did bother to read but not all the way through. You've behaved rather unfortunately in the past, so normally I have you on my block list. Ergo I may have missed whether you commented or not. No matter. Pointless discussion anyway. Bye.- 338 replies

Update #77: Art in Alpha
rjshae replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Well, given a lack of any links, one is left wondering whether those who were complaining loudly about the boob plate and would presumably have found these illustrations objectionable were only a small group who have since mostly departed, leaving only the last two diehards....- 338 replies
