  1. What's wrong with role-playing a generally unliked character? I don't think you would want to make the abilities of the god-like too attractive, or it will be the go-to character for min-maxing. Hopefully they have it carefully balanced. What might be a concern is at higher levels where helms/circlets/hats start to provide some pretty useful capabilities. They may need to add one or more upper level ability boosts in order to balance that out.
  2. Suggested before: feed your less powerful items to the stronghold leaders. It will improve their loyalty and strengthen the defenses.
  3. The smarter marketeers might look at: number of active gamers in a group -times- the amount of money the group spends on gaming. If a group has a lot of gamers but only buys a few cheap mobile games to play over and over, then that group may not end up having as much influence as you might think. OTOH, there's probably going to be another hype cycle with a lot of following the herd.
  4. To me that was a problem in design: if the game encourages 20% of the Wizard spells to be cast 80% of the time, then Sorcerer becomes a better character than Wizard through a form of min-maxing.
  5. The IE inventory system is clunky and outdated; it's one of the most annoying aspects of going back to play BG2EE. Do I hang on to these twenty pieces of seemingly useless quest cr*p in case they prove important, or do I replace them with something useful? Now I have to spend ten minutes consolidating gems that are scattered across the party in the gem sack. Why does this one arrow that I'll probably use only rarely take up as much room as 80 +1 arrows? Why do I need to have multiple party members carry along extra arrows used by one or two characters? What is it about my equipment that is causing so much encumbrance--wait, I'll add and remove each one until I find it. I'll be glad to see the last of it.
  6. Like it or not, game creation is a business. But it's got to be a healthy balance of business and (gaming) pleasure--each has to rely on the other to succeed in the long term. Otherwise, in the end, a company will have neither.
  7. If they do a Pathfinder CRPG, I hope it doesn't draw Obsidian financial resources from their PoE series. That'd be my concern.
  8. Yeah, especially given the wretched failure (under even "worse" circumstances) that was Baldur's Gate ...
  9. It doesnt right out say it and according to d&d faq on the OGL, its mainly the line that states u cannot add or force "permission or restriction" on the ogl content which most games make u accept an uael agreement to play the game. Its that agreement that is against the OGL, no making a video game but making players agree to restrictions and permissions and so forth. Which line is that? I don't see it. The main restriction is on Product Identity.
  10. In looking at the OGL, I'm not sure the linked article is correct about not being able to use the OGL to create video games. 1b defines 'derivative', 1g defines use in terms of 'derivative', and 4 grants a perpetual use license.
  11. I hope it is turn-based, is party-based, and is on PoE's engine. I'll be fine with RTwP, though. Pretty exciting news! It would make sense to use the PoE engine, rather than building a new system from scratch. But I have to wonder about how Pathfinder players would feel about that. The name brings with it certain expectations.
  12. At the time I felt nothing but disgust and contempt about the Presidency and their use of contrived evidence and a made-up justification for the invasion. It led to my heightened distrust of anything Republican, even more so than the Demos. The administration's reasoning was tissue-thin, their grand strategy was too likely to fail, and their planning for the take-over was pathetic. I was angry about the whole affair for a long time, and I still won't vote Republican. Not until they start acting less like a bunch of radical nuts and more like responsible politicians.
  13. Hope just leads to disappointment. Ah yes, but " hope springs eternal in the human breast " As does acid reflux... erp.
  14. I don't see a need for this. In terms of cultural and magical development, the elven longevity would more than make up for a lack of an Intellect bonus. The +1 Perception bonus seems more appropriate to their reputation in fantasy literature.
  15. He's a comic? For some reason I just don't find him that funny.
  16. Perhaps a higher mark-down on expensive items. "Sorry yer ladyship, but our noble Duke demands a... 'luxury' tax on all major transactions." Mutters... "greedy git..." He continues, "After all, 'is nibs needs 'is 'normous belly fillin' with more sweet cakes and the finest soddin' swill. But ye looks as if ye can afford it, if yer catchin' me meanin'." Gaining the Stronghold gets you out of paying most of the tax because you're now a member of the landed estate.
  17. Any extra money will be rapidly consumed by the spouse mini-game, in combination with the bar tab, exotic dancer mini-game, and brothel taxes.
  18. They could adjust the brightness of the selection circles based on the lighting level of the floor, making them a slightly lower intensity when the surface is dimly lit.

  20. Cheese and crumpets. Just needs a little table wine to wash it down...
  21. If you give the equivalent of an orc/goblin a eusocial evolutionary structure, then I think their behavior becomes more sustainable. They would then be acting more in the interests of the colony than as individuals. Therefore a belligerent territorial aggressiveness can be sustained by repeated spawning of new generations by the reproductive caste, and the loss of a significant number of individuals might not significantly damage the whole. They can also produce plague-like incursion cycles, such as occur with locusts under some environmental conditions.
  22. The old Warhammer FRP Druids used to have familiars that were spirit-based. I.e. they didn't exist in a material form. Perhaps they will be like that, and the 'familiar' totem effect will just be another power that Wizards can activate?
