  1. Like ancient Egypt, ancient Rome, ancient China or ancient Greece. They all left long lasting monuments and knowledge that over-lasted their society. It's just that Eora has magic on top of maths, physics, chemistry and astronomy.
  2. I do know that a +1 Resolve item in the BB do grants more deflection because I've seen it change the paperdoll, although I never looked at the stats themselves. Did you check if your +2 Resolve improved your character deflection and only the character sheet wasn't updated?
  3. Being in melee, doesn't mean you are supposed to let everything whack on you. Let the party member with high deflection/defense get most of the enemies attention first and use the rogue to flank and debuff enemies. They require a lot of positioning to exploit debuff and sneak attacks. It is an active class, it needs to be moved around, positioned and have its actives used at the appropriate time. Flanked require to have two characters (or more) attacking the same target but in opposite side (less or more). It gives a -10 deflection. I'm not sure what you mean by rogue that is not a rogue? What is your requirement to be a rogue exactly? You can have any character with a stealth/mechanics focus, but only the rogue has a in-combat invisibility ability and super high burst damage potential. Priest of Skaen has a talents that grant them sneak attacks (but suffer from low health) and Ranger has a talent that cause their pets to do sneak attacks as well (but will require more positioning to have the Ranger and pet flank enemies).
  4. I've been playing different games since February, but right now I'm doing games far away from PoE styles as not to get bored by the genre. Although, I really have to force my self after trying the latest BB. This mean I re-installed Skyrim (decide to try vanilla only, only mods installed outside of unofficial patches are Immersive Armor, SkyUI and a few performance fixes ones) and made multiple characters until I got something I liked: a Nord sword&board scout. Hopefully I can stand him for the next two weeks, otherwise I'm just going to burn through The Witchers novels instead.
  5. Chanting is not affected by recovery nor doing anything else as far as I know outside of the Chanter falling unconscious. You just need to be in combat for it to toggle up. There might be a recovery period if you switch chant in the middle of combat, I haven't tried it. The chant is a AoE passive, like the Paladin's aura it has a maximum radius but I'm not sure what it is, I'll have to test it out. Invocation are like spells. They have a recovery time and can be interrupted (although most of them are fast to cast so harder to interrupt). As for chants in the log, each phrases roll a hit when the Chanter start to chant it. You should have the Chanter name with the phrase and the number of hits. They can miss, grazes, hit and crit like anything else. You can see if an enemy is affected by a chant in their in-combat tooltip as well, but they last a few seconds so can be easy to miss.
  6. It's already at v1.0, the build version of the latest BB is 1.0.0.480.
  7. I can confirm the 100 health reset after you load a save for the pet and it's probably what happened. I saved the game and opened it up again and he was there at 100 health which was weird because the only thing I faced between a full rest at the Inn and the save was the Ogre and he couldn't have lost over 400 health in that fight when none of my character got downed. After another rest I went to the Templar of Skaen and I saved and he is once again at 100 health when he was full before saving. There might be something else bugged with pet's health. He was actually downed in a fight against multiple cultists and when he "woke up" he was at max health when he shouldn't. Although, the health = endurance when health < endurance thing really need to be documented somewhere.
  8. Unless you super hate having the pet (which you control like another party member), they are not bad. I had an easier time in the current beta with a ranger as character in the 5 men party than will using a Monk, Cipher, Rogue or Barbarian. Also, you are not stuck with ranged weapons, a few of the classes talents might even work better in melee. I used a primary ranged build in my tests though.
  9. I haven't seen it with a chanter, but I've seen my ranged characters (ranger and BB Wizards) stop doing their auto attacks after using a class ability or spells. Moving them a bit "solve" it.
  10. The selection start at the gender/race selected and you can go left/right for changing it. Portraits with variation of each others are one after the other and there is usually no more than 3 of those.
  11. I'm 99.9% certain this is correct. I'm 100% certain that is correct.
  12. There is nothing related to the main story in the BB, it's all side content.
  13. Lots of people mass murdered the village of Dryford in the beta...
  14. You can find some with enchantments (player can't enchant them though). I looted a helm with +1 Dex for example. As for gear that offer protection in term of static stats that is limited to armor, shields and hachet. There are potions, scrolls and item enchantments that can boost your DR, Deflection and the 3 saves (Reflex, Fortitude, Will). Support abilities can also increase those temporary (aura, chants or spells).
  15. I have 200 hours in DAI (one full playthrough and an unfinished one + countless restart to get the right character). I liked the game well enough and I got my money worth but I'm kind of jaded now. The main quests all happening in their own little maps and cutscene not always matching where you clicked on characters are annoying me greatly, I would have preferred a better real world representation of all of that. The Inquisitor come off as super-bland too, outside of a few early conversation, optional map missions and how people's address you, their backgrounds barely comes into play.
  16. Priest have low health and endurance, so that would mean resting more if they get hit often. Their spells have short range though so you need to keep them mid-ranged anyway. The game mechanics have no gear restrictions, so you can give a Priest melee weapon and a shield if you want (although that's more tanky than damage oriented).
  17. By the way, Re is the Lion, not the Ranger, it's a bit unclear in the screenshot.
  18. Some feebacks on Ranger's pets: - They need some points into athletics, they get tired faster than BB Rogue does. You also don't know it unless you look at the character page (and then you wonder why they only gained 1 endurance at level up). - They need +3 accuracy/deflection every level like everyone else does, that is unless the animal companion bonus is on top of these which is unclear because you can't see all of the pet's stats.
  19. I didn't know that (although it explain what I was seeing). It's mentioned somewhere? Although, it doesn't look that intuitive the way it is currently displayed.
  20. After coming back to the village from facing Mister Ogre and his hairy friends, I looked at my ranger's pet lion and his Endurance read 100/111. I also had a similar problem earlier with my Priest who got stuck at 61 Endurance in the spider caves (after fighting the Spider Queen). Only resting solved the problem (drinking an endurance potion did not fix the Priest's endurance).
  21. My Lion has 111 Endurance (although for some reasons it top at 100 along with his health, I'm going to fill a bug for that). edit: for comparison, my Ranger has 102 Endurance, BB Rogue has 108 and BB Wizard has 110.
  22. I agree, but moreso because x1.2 damage is not correct anymore, it is actually +20% base damage. They need to do a pass on the tooltips: some read x1.2 damages, some reads +20 damage (missing the %) and I think I've seen one with the correct +20%.
  23. Anything you want, they have better health, base deflection and base accuracy than the other casters. Base deflection/accuracy is quite close to the Paladin. Chants don't cover the entire battlefield so think about the role you want the chanter to fulfill. They have buff that are better for ranged (i.e. reload speed buff) and others for melee (i.e. DR buff or enemies debuff). Invocation goes from melee conic range to summons which don't need to be cast melee. They are less impacted than other classes by recovery time because you need to build up to cast invocation. As for weapons, went are people going to understand there is no class limitation in PoE? You can use whatever you want. Unless you are DPS obsessed...
  24. I don't know what you do with your animal companion, but my lion (without the resilience passive) was off-taking perfectly fine on normal against Medreth and his Groups, all the beetles, all the spiders and did as good as anyone else against the Ogre (taking the bears out is not a problem). He's more durable than anyone in the party outside of the Fighter who is setup to tank.
