In your screenshot, the warbow damage makes no sense. You claim it was a superb warbow, well that's not what is shown in your screenshot. The warbow has about the same damage range as the saber, so it should output about the same damage per hits when the same damage multipliers are applied on it, not less than half of what the saber does like in your screenshot. To have the values showing up in your screenshots it would require the enemies to have about 30 DR against piercing (which they don't have). Looks like you stumbled upon a bug to me.

A superb warbow shouldn't do that low damage though. It's about the same damage range as a saber so it should hit in the same range for the same might, quality and damage multipliers and it's clearly not doing so in those screenshots.

Ranger's pet get bonuses to damage, DR and accuracy on top of normal level increase (accuracy/defenses) every couple of levels to compensate for the lack of gear.

Stalker's link was changed to +20 accuracy when the Ranger is attacking the same target as his pet...it's a passive.

Dual Wielding, Styles and Specialization. What why?
morhilane replied to JohnnySideburns's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
how does that make sense ?? Thats overpowered... whats the catch ? None. Dual Wield is better than 1H in each and every application. -
Only if your Chanter is near you. Chant's AOE isn't big enough to cover ranged and melee at the same time.

Review Watch?

From the comments of the reviewer (I think?) at MMORPG.com http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/1029/feature/9510/Pillars-of-Eternity-Exclusive-Class-Preview-Part-1.html Yup, Bill Murphy is a reviewer at MMORPG. edit: and looks like other MMORPG staff are having fun with the game too going by Grakulen's comment in the same thread. -
Every time you say something works well or too well, Sensuki, Sawyer kills a puppy and restricts a mechanic. Stop it. D: Strangely, he has left the Druid alone despite Sensuki and many others saying how OP it is...but I think that's because Tim Cain isn't letting him doing it.

It's Swift Aim, a Ranger's modal. aeonsim referred to it as talent, not ability, and called it "Fast Aim", not Swift Aim. That's why I'm asking if there is a new talent I'm not aware of. I didn't see any Fast Aim in the latest BB for the ranger which I leveled up to level 8, so I took it to mean Swift Aim (which is not a 50% bonus either but 20%).

Review Watch?

I was personally very worried about allowing streaming before launch, but only because I didn't want the story to get spoiled for folks. The team has taken a lot of steps to reduce the number of spoilers that get out. But, times are a changin' and streaming before launch is where it's at now. We do have an embargo on streaming anything past getting your stronghold so that should preserve a good amount of the story. any idea on how far that is? like mid game or whatever. @morhilane, what monday? is that where you can start showing the game? Not me personally because i'm not a reviewer, the reviewers have a street date (March 23rd) when they can start showing the first part of the game on streams. It's going to be full of early spoilers and I know (because it always happen) that a few of them are going to show things they are not supposed to show. I can sympathize with the devs on trying to limit spoilers before release, it's really hard once things get out of your hands to avoid (and game reviewers seems to do more in sensationalism than professionalism). -

The truly consumer-friendly option would be to simply not base reviews on pre-release code. If more sites followed that policy, embargoes would be irrelevant. Of course, most won't do it because they want day 1 site traffic. Well this isn't technically pre-release code, I assume that the keys given to reviewers is the "gold" version. Generally, the main reason publishers want to delay reviews until the release date in order to protect pre-orders against a low metacritic score. I don't really like release date embargoes, in general. I think they're generally bad for the consumer. They wouldn't allow reviewers to show the game in streams on the 23rd if they were afraid of metacritic scores. Any general issues will be well displayed live so everyone can see them starting Monday. -

Have you played a MMO? Pets are dreadful in every MMOs I played for the simple reasons that you do not control them outside of simple commands like "attack". Pillars of Eternity does that part right, it's just another party member that the player is controlling. -

A question about specializing in skills
morhilane replied to Trius's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I've found a scroll in the BB (random loot I believe) that increase Lore by 3 for like a minute, it might exist for other skills as well. I haven't had a problem with dabbling into two skills in the BB either, but that's not representative of the rest of the game. -
They could do that from behind without being damaged, just like wizards. I noticed they have a lot of enemy debuffs and allied auras, maybe the radius is low, then they have to stay near the frontline. Dunno where to check tho The chant aura at Int 10 is somewhere between 5 and 6 (in-game) meters. That's not that much. You really have to build your Chanter with a combat style in mind.

[480] Targeting and Engagement issues with downed Animal Companions
morhilane replied to Sensuki's question in Backer Beta Bugs and Support
The party members aggroing the downed companion is annoying. I've seen BB Priest run off to it after killing her target instead of the Cowled Ranger who was alive and seemly closer to her (hard to evaluate distances). And I very much believe the issue is because the enemy downed animal is still target-able and not "dead" like you mention.
