You don't learn spells from grimoire in Deadfire. At level up, you'll get the "ability tree" page and a certain amount of talent points. On the ability page you'll see all the stuff available to your character from level 1 and 20 (split in power level which goes from 1 to 9) which include spells and passives. There is a table in the multiclassing update that shows what power level you get at what character level (note that the amount of abilities gained per level changed since the table was made). A single classed character going from level 4 to 5, will unlocked power level 3. In the case of the Wizard, that means getting the chance to pick spells of level 3. Note that Wizard sub-classes gets a free pre-selected spell at each new power level that cost no talent points, but they get locked out of 2 schools too.

In Deadfire, you selected new spells at level up using talent points. Grimoire have 2 spells/level that are fixed and can't be changed, you can find/buy new grimoires (right click them to see their spells). There is a way to respec, but I never used it and I'm not sure where you go to do it. For #3, disable the AI or change it (the blue head icon under the character portrait in the info page). For #4, it's probably the duration of whatever the icon is. The casting/recovery bar is above the character model head.

She's drunk the first time you meet her on the beach, Eld is not a very good uncle. Now if the dialogues fit with a drunk 5 years old is a good question.

DEADFIRE NR 1!
morhilane replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Usually scores go down as more reviews get added, not up. -
Going by Josh's answer May 6th to people asking about the baby orlan (Vela) not showing up in the Streamers stream, the answer is "no" they didn't until 2 days before release happened because it was tested and it worked on their end. I was under impression "2 days before release" is in fact "before release". So "yes". Also i wonder how they missed MAC users problem The game preload started on Friday (May 4th), while the "release" to players was May 8th, the release build was made and uploaded to Steam before they knew about the import issues. The only "known issues" related to import on release day was Edèr as Mayor not being Mayor and Vela not showing up.

Companions location
morhilane replied to Majber's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
You'll should meet her again later and you will get to recruit her at that time. -
I saw people claims the game has just 32 hours of content (then that person confessed he didn't do all side content), while another took more than 70 hours to finish their game (not idea if they did everything or not). I think like POE1 the rushed (34hrs) vs leisure (190hrs) divide is going to be wide. It depends too much on difficulty level, party composition and if the players use the accelerated speed all the time outside of combat or not.

Is that normal?
morhilane replied to Wormerine's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm in the same boat. Well the tag disappearing sometimes yesterday at least, I haven't checked if the game was still in my library this morning...because I know I can't download it until I'm back from work. *cry* -
I would assume it is lifted now, but bear in mind it is only 10am on the east coast of the US. Many of the people who do reviews for major outlets may not even be at work yet. Most websites with articles requires those articles to be written and locked a day before their date of posting so editors can go through them and the posting is done automatically via a scheduler. No need for anyone to be at the office...unless someone didn't enter the right time on the scheduler. Source: I wrote articles for a small webmagazine a few years back.

I linked and quoted the announcement whereby Obsidian says which backer tiers got the DLC for free, as opposed to having to buy the $20 extra. See my post above. Huh. Serves me for not paying proper attention. So it's confirmed that we gold backers should get the season pass in our profiles, eventually. When people pointed it out when the announcement was made, Obsidian devs seemed confuse about it. It wasn't included during the FIG crowdfunding and it seems to be a "last minute" decision from Versus Evil. The whole thing is very confusing and we got no news since.

Can't be DAI, you start at level 1. You are probably thinking of Dragon Age 2. Although, reviewers spending top 20 hours with a game before reviewing and claiming they finished it are becoming very commons, or they are becoming real crap are hiding it these days. This unfortunately affect single player RPGs a lot more than other type of games.

I think the main issues is that most of the new portraits are based on real people (FIG pledge level) and few of them requested something beside humans and elves. Saying, I'm disappointed about the amount of portraits for the not human-looking races (elves are human looking, they just have pointy ears). It's not like you can add custom ones easily like you can with the bazillion of human and elven fantasy based arts that already exist.

What're you doing in the thread discussing a spoilery stream then? I think this thread should indeed be moved to spoilers section, btw. This thread is not marked as spoiler, it was created to announce a stream was coming. Everyone was avoiding talking about spoilery stuff until a few posts ago. People here are mostly talking about the new classes abilities stuff revealed in the stream which aren't spoilers might I add.
