  1. There is a text adventure with Skaenites related to it, giving the souls to Woedica is something Skaen ask you to do. It's not mentioned by the gods though, but going by how my playthrough referred to 3 different POE1 ending choices throughout the game despite using a custom legacy... All the "break pledge" have consequences, some are not necessarily very visible, like Galawain buff/debuff certain enemies. Yeah I know there are some references to it, but I just don't think they reflect the choice properly. The whole point was to empower her to reclaim her position as ruler of the gods but Woedica is unchanged if you make that choice. One of my characters who did not empower Woedica can even say to ondra that "if it wasn't for me you would be in Woedica's shackles" but the gods are not subjegated by her in a world where you did empower her. It also is never explained why that is. Like they could have just had her say that she is for now focusing on Eothas and left the full consequences of this choice for whenever they end this story. My point was more that maybe the flag is not checked properly everywhere.
  2. According to the lore, the others gods do fear Rymrgand. They are all supposed to be equals according to Eothas, so...who knows.
  3. I believe you need master captain and a few master level crewmen too (not all of them, I had a few at expert) which means hunting ships. I never did drugs and I find the plot better paced and more interesting then POE1 because it pace revelation along the plot instead of dumping everything in the last 20 minutes. I liked POE1 plot too. As for why I love POE2 story, I love lore and learning new things and I got a lots of stuff to think about now. I don't need a game main plot to be about "me, the chosen one has to save the world ASAP". In fact, I find those stories boring these days. None of what the gods were saying was nonsense, but I can understand that people who don't pay attention to lore, refuse to immerse themselves in a gameworld and actually role-play would be totally lost. Also, thematically both POE1 and POE2 were the same: chase after X to get answers to your question(s). Oh no you didn't! And those scenes don't have anything of interest in them aside from like one line from Magran which never gets mentioned again. There are no engaging roleplay opportunities like the first game where you could discuss the beauty of dragons with Hylea or tell Ondra that living with your past is important - you can try to interject but guess what, they're still going to drone on about how they plan to do nothing. These conversations are just a big fat waste of time like the rest of the plot. Did nothing? So, Magran didn't blew up a volcano? Ondra didn't threw a gigantic wave at Eothas? None of them suggested, in two different occasions, to drain their godlikes to power themselves up? Weodica didn't suggest to throw a moon? It's not because ideas were rejected or were failed attempts that the gods did nothing. Nothing of interest. We didn't learn that the gods can drain their godlike at will? Didn't learn that they eat souls fragments? Didn't learn that the Wheel was made? Didn't get a deeper understanding of each gods personalities and how they interact with each others? How does talking about pretty things with Hylea helps the plot in Deadfire? Or having philosophical debate with them? Instead of you got to piss them off, dismiss them, say you agree with Eothas, etc. You can make Woedica so angry that she tries to kill you (Berath stop her). And you just proved my point about people who refuse to immerse themselves. You wanted something else from the plot so you think it is crap.
  4. The reason is that Ranger are very passives and most players wants to mash buttons. Now though, Maia's subclass is a plain bonus over default Ranger. Bonus if you use guns, default ranger feature set if you don't. On top of it, Ishi is immune to engagement which you only get if you are a Ghost Heart on a pet that last about 30 seconds.
  5. My impression of the game is that as you advance in it, people learns who you are and more NPCs refer to you based on your background. Doesn't help that I did a show at the docks when I arrived at Neketaka... There is a text adventure with Skaenites related to it, giving the souls to Woedica is something Skaen ask you to do. 6. Dragon's Dowry is always at Uto's (gunsmith at Brass Citadel). It was there early game for me.
  7. Berath does come off as having an agenda of some sort, but if Eothas powers her up, everything becomes stagnant, so being the only god/leader doesn't seems it. Berath has a small priesthood and barely talks to them, getting more worshipers doesn't seems like a goal...unless Berath is in "mortals depends too much on gods" camp, hmm...yep, vacations. As for the secrets, the way I see it, not all the gods agrees with that policies. Hiding stuff seems to be Ondra, Woedica and Wael ideas. Magran and Berath do not care. When you are at Ashen Maw, it seems that Magran is listening to your conversation with Eothas. The other gods might have been "invited", hence Ondra causing the huge wave. Their failure is what spark the bickering. While Berath just want your impression, gives some info and tells you to go after Eothas. Now, I have this image of the gods looking through a "tv" via the link Berath forge with the Watcher, lol.
  8. People keep saying the gods were created, but the actual process was merging thousand of Engwithans souls together and souls are a repository of memories. My guess is that Berath was(are) the Engwithan(s) who created and built the Wheel before being granted apotheosis. Which means that Berath should know how to repair it... if she does..what does she gain letting Eotha do the breaking the wheel down? Unless she use the knowledge to blackmail the gods , or use the knowledge to control the mortal who will rebuild it in a way that will give her an edge or advantage...... Or keep the knowledge..and give up the job she has ? and become something that don't rely on the wheel maybe? She gains long vacations? I feels like we are missing some information about the gods true purpose to really speculate properly. Eothas say they walked away form it, but I don't remember much explanation on what it was outside "strong soul" getting a mention. If souls are involved than the Wheel is involved though.
  9. You mean, the Watcher telling them to do something? I haven't picked those options outside the one where Woedica gets pissed at you for insulting her and she goes for the kill...but Berath looks at her and she stop midway and then the discussion shift to someone else. Berath doesn't participate much in the "what can we do" discussions from what I remember, she mostly says "it's too late for that now" and "the Watcher is our best option". you should test it.. right now you are mah best walking talking Library on Berath...pretty plz with cherry on top! I'm waiting for another patch before replaying... and thanks, I think. I just love the lore and Berath (and Magran and Hylea, the other gods can die though).

  12. If you want to believe the story is badly written because you want it to be badly written, go ahead. I won't stop you. But I have no problem to theorize that Berath sent the Watcher to talk to Eothas to placate the other gods from doing something early and make sure they don't have enough time to stop Eothas in the end. Rymrgand knew what Eothas was trying to do. Rymrgand only "ally" among the gods is Berath. Eothas plans was to destroy Berath's Wheel. Berath's reaction is *shrug*. If you pick the "power up a god" ending Eothas power up Berath. Berath has an amazing poker face too.
  13. Something to keep in mind, the gods don't bother fixing the misconceptions of their followers. Example, Galawain has followers who believe he is the real god of war instead of Magran. Eothas only talks about progress, hope and becoming something greater together. Gaun seems to be a fabrication of a subset his followers.
  14. They try pretty hard at Ashen Maw but it just doesn't work against Eothas. What makes the Watcher special is that Eothas is actually listening to us. I mean not everything we say but he considers our word at least. Gods are probably trying to take advantage of that, not piss us off too much and influence us so we can influence Eothas. That's the feeling I got. That's only Magran though, isn't it? And she says something like she's gonna kill the watcher while doing it. They suck as gods if the lot of them together can't stop one guy and they need to manipulate a crappy mortal to do it. In the end they unintentionally prove what Eothas is trying to prove, i.e. that the gods are pointless and kith can do without them, at least that's what I thought he meant. Magran starts it with the eruption. Then Ondra sends in the waves. I don't think anyone else joins in since they are divided on what to do with him, if I remember right. Edit: I think he had a Kraken hanging off his shoulder after the waves in the description, which was pretty funny to me :D Only Magran (volcano) and Ondra (the sea and its beasts) have powers where Eothas was, unless you think a flock of birds would have succeeded there... Galawain's domain is over the land. Abydon, Wael, Woedica, Skaen and Berath do not control forces of nature. Rymrgand support Eothas. That's why Hylea complains they left their bodies behind and Magran suggested siphoning their godlikes to power up but it was too late for that. Also, Berath mention that Eothas used their blind spot against them. Although, I'm starting to think that Berath is/was in cahoot with Eothas...but that's another story.
  15. Pale white skin Black Hair Undistinguished age outside very old Stoic and impassable Has a thing for bells, chimes and wearing all black and I suspect, going by Magran not recognizing Durance because his soul was damaged, that gods see people via their soul... *cough*Grieving Mother*cough* Though, doesn't she prefer Hylea's choice for the Hollowborn instead of Berath's? Grieving Mother is the best though. Yes, but many of the Hollowborns are dead... the Grieving Mother backgrounds is that she manipulated a whole village to think their kids were still alive so they wouldn't kill them (which by the way is cipher power to a level we haven't see anywhere). Even her "name" Grieving Mother represent both lost/death and birth/new life. Although, I original though she was just some sort of follower of Berath the first time I had the bell/chimes association at the start of Deadfire who focus on death->life instead of life->death, but the more I think about it....

  17. All of them. The only convo I had with companions was their intro/game ending, personal quest content, Xoti outburst against Pallegina, Aloth's faction opinions and one Tek/Maia romance dialog (turned down). Edér "what to do with Xoti" triggered once when I was testing classes, but not on the character I finished the game with. At least, they had some banter with each others, commented in some quests and upon entering areas. Otherwise they would have been super silent. I finished the game, but didn't do a completionist run because I knew early that I was going to wait for another patch.
  18. Grieving Mother. She should have told us. I'm still not quite sure if she wasn't high on some weird soul drug after all, and just making up that whole birthing bell story as a cover. Bells and chimes = Berath and I'm not saying that Grieving Mother is Berath...but...
  19. Blights are caused by lost souls and without the Wheel to pump souls into the In-Between, there is going to be a lot more lost souls around.
  20. Her pro-Rauatai cheering does get a bit silly sometimes. I almost chocked on my tea when she told Biha in the Gullets that in Rauatai they will teach her how to do laundry properly or something like that. Am I the only person who came to the conclusion that Maia had the social skill level of a goldfish? Even when there is no Rauatai in what she is saying, it rarely makes come off as proper for the situation.
  21. Isn't that what they do in this game? Well at least in my playthrough, they were just exchanging barbs each time they had banter. I'm still annoyed that I lose one if I pick the other's faction...
  22. Cheers. What enchants does it have? Lucky: +5 change to avoid attack Chest Guard: -20% crit damage taken
  23. Yea, the Republics and their animancers so far are the best bet at fixing it (if you choose them), judging from the ending slides. That may leave a door open for Pallegina to return. I like the animancers in the second game, but siding with the Republics... i don't know. Anyone knows how to get a good ending with Pallegina without siding with the Republics? I don't want to get her banished again, but I'd rather help the Huana (for all their faults) or go solo. Both Republics and Rauatai have slavery, and that is something thats a no-go for me. Depends what you means by "good ending". If you side with no one, the Deadfire has a worst statu quo (Huana and Rauatai are fighting over Ukaizo, the Vaillain swoop in to collect and there are more pirates), but Pallegina is not banished. She does gets a remote posting in the Republic though (which she might not mind truly). Note that if you got Pallegina banished in POE1, she's not supposed to stick with you unless you pick VTC or go solo (according to Josh on something awful).
