  1. The IE games are already very good at most of those things, trying to 'improve' on them may turn out badly.
  2. I specifically asked about the XP for kill just then, let's see if they answer it. They've already answered two of my questions so they may skip me
  3. from the AMA sensuki There was concern raised on the forums about the proposed health system based on Darklands. If a character is knocked unconscious from running out of endurance, would you program enemy AI to strike down said character, or ignore them and attack your remaining characters that are not unconscious? Would this be related to difficulty level / expert mode Obsidian_Ent[S] JESawyer: We'll have to see, but generally speaking, spending time finishing off an unconscious foe while able-bodied combatants continue to pose a threat is not tactically wise.
  4. I hope not, my last playthrough of IWD1 clocked at 16 hours.
  5. Actually in the case of not having enough money, people are given 7 days if their card is declined to fix the problem. It is answered here. Yeah I know but even after that 7 days, there is still a lot of unresolved pledges on most projects. Grim Dawn lost a fair bit from memory.
  6. I would go as far as saying it always happens, to what extent it may vary between 1 loss of the lowest tier on smaller projects to multiple $10K pledge losses because they were fakes.
  7. I'm hoping for something a bit more like Star Wars KotOR perhaps, like what you did with your lightsaber ? I haven't played New Vegas. I do not like the Bethesda engine games (Morrowind, Oblivion etc)
  8. There will be lost pledges though, there always is. For instance, someone pledges but accidentally selects their old credit card info on amazon, or they didn't have enough money in their account.
  9. I sincerely hope not. It should be a proper beta of the full game. It's not a demo or a teaser, it's an integral part of development. If you don't want to be spoiled, then don't participate in the beta. They mentioned they'd be limiting the content somewhere I think. It's kind of funny actually, of all the betas I participated in I preferred the beta to the full version haha.
  10. These are the bits that I was glad to hear Fallout-level of linearity Interesting Health System (companions knocked unconscious like KOTOR but can also be killed like BG) Brings up an interesting combat mechanic, do enemies have stamina as well, if you subdue them in combat, do you kill them or let them go ? Perma-death (I think they read my Fair and 'Guiling Copesmate Death thread) Non-combat skills sound good so far Interesting UI concepts Letting the area designers do their thing Seperate Inventory screen for crafting materials Firearms concept sounds good Expansion These are the bits I'll reserve judgement for The proposed spell-casting system - it sounds good, but it could have some issues Classes sound like they'll play different, let's hope the theory works on paper Skeptical about Crafting & Enchanting but on the forums I've heard they liked how it worked in BG2, the KotOR system was ok too Gonna wait and see what the damage system is like Currency - I don't really care for complex currency systems or different types of coins, but we'll see what they do Beta - Hopefully it doesn't ruin too much of the early game story. I have a feeling players will just get to play like the first chapter or whatever.
  11. Basically what he means is you shouldn't be able to run to the Adventurer's Hall and hire 5 companions so the game is easier. The NPC companions will probably not automatically join your party like in Baldur's Gate and you'll probably have to do a quest or something for them with them as a follower before you get them.
  12. I really enjoyed this interview as well it was one of the better ones done. The guy actually asked some good questions rather than just the piecemeal standard questions every interviewer asks. It was linked in the KS Q&A thread earlier.
  13. Umm, I'm not sure if this will be your kind of game, you may just want to play it on easy mode.
  14. I'd be okay with this only if it worked outside of combat. But I'm pretty sure this will just be hooked into the AI system possibly (inside combat anyway). I got through BG without using contingency or casting Horrid Wilting once many times. I actually didn't use many AoE spells because I played a Kensai or Undead Hunter most of the time. And the further away from Dragon Age or MMOs the game is, the better. Dragon Age was not a tactical game in my opinion, it just gave the illusion of it.
  15. November 30 for BG1:EE I played Baldur's Gate 1 before I played Dungeons and Dragons as well. my first D&D campaign was a 2 player session with my friend DM'ing, in the Dark Sun campaign. Probably my most memorable D&D experience too. I got to level 7, but then I died. Damn Ettins.
  16. I'd prefer they didn't get burned up. Kill a mage and steal his grimoire for the win. That should be one way to learn new spells.
  17. Diablo 2 / Titan Quest potion mechanism was a good idea, it healed a certain amount of health over X time, rather than being instant. I prefer that to instantly adds X amount of health. The potion has to enter your body first I did also like The Witcher's potion tolerance system.
  18. I'm at the CE level but I'll probably go the $250 for the art book and novella audio book and throw in a pack of cards as well. Oi Gorth do you know if there's gonna be a backer or VIP forum ?
  19. Well iteration time will be shorter than when making IE games due to 10 years worth of faster hardware and improved technology. They said it only takes half an hour to render a 2D Backdrop now instead of a few days so ... who knows. I doubt it'll be anywhere near the level of Baldur's Gate 2 ... but one can only hope. A good thing BG2 did is make the most out of it's models. A Ghoul model was recolored and used as a Ghast and a Lacedon (and probably a couple others as well).
  20. finished my IWD1 playthrough that I started yesterday
